perhaps speak to your vet or the Hills people about Hills Prescription diet z/d http://www.hillspet.com/hillspet/products/...845524441780772

I've heard mixed things about it - though the person who "slammed" them, I think had a personal grudge. If you have a look at their testimonial page, you will see trainers such as Nicole Wilde, Sue Sternberg and Peta Clarke, which to me, speaks volumes about the quality of the course. I would love to do their courses, but cannot justify the expense... unless someone wants to pay for me to do it!!!

if you're after tugs, perhaps check out the Australian Air Dogs... www.airdogs.com.au not a huge range like Clean Run (less temptation perhaps?) but cheaper postage!

Vests Suitable For Use When Training
pipsqueak replied to 4 Paws's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Erny - is it any of these... http://www.wellingtonsurplus.com.au/listPr.../CLOTHING/VESTS -
I'm very much a training novice, but I'll give you my ideas as they may spark yours. I also have a dog who isn't a natural barker. I taught her "quiet" before I taught speak, so I didn't (hopefully) create a problem of barking but no "off" switch. To teach quiet, I just chose times when she was naturally quiet and gave a "quiet" command and rewarded. And yes, she was probably fairly confused at this point, because she possibly couldn't understand what she was being rewarded for. She doesn't bark naturally, but she has a very loud yawn, where she actually produces noise. I captured this, put it on command and gradually built it into speak/bark.

I have just finished doing research for an assignment. Apparently you can give Revolution from 6 weeks of age (which surprised me!). Personally, I would probably ask my vet. Link so you can check it out yourself http://www.pfizeranimalhealth.com.au/produ...g-for-dogs.aspx

Obedience Classes On The Weekend
pipsqueak replied to Kaz's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
From memory, if you mean Eastern Suburbs Dog training that trains at Centennial Park they train on Sunday morning. Not sure if Sutherland would be too far... Sutherland Shire Dog Training Club trains on Sunday morning. -
I wouldn't try a clip with a strong dog - they are renowned for breaking. I think most trainers recommend a buckle (any many schools don't allow clips due to the break risk). i've never seen a lead with a buckle instead of a clip. I would be very interested in a photo if you have one.

also try Black Dog if you want a strong webbing lead with a strong clip... www.blackdog.net.au

not sure if these would be suitable, but they seem to have a good reputation (I haven't used them myself). http://www.windchill.com.au/ Also, I believe that "Black Dog" are willing to custom-make/custom design... www.blackdog.net.au -
not exactly the same, but might be a start??? http://www.groomersproducts.com.au/framecollars_leads.htm

you can now buy "veggie ears" (vegetarian pigs ears). They apparently have less than 3% fat - but don't last as long as a pig's ear.

New Dog, New Mistakes...
pipsqueak replied to oceanaussi's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
definitely no expert here, but thought I'd throw a few random thoughts your way. Have you tried leaving him with a kong or boredom buster when you leave him alone? I also had a dog who would be vocal when I left with the other dog (perhaps not as bad as yours, but I could hear him two blocks away some mornings!). What worked for me, and may not work for anyone else), was this. Dog is crated in room near front door. I left with the other dog "as normal". I stepped off the deck, and he started barking/whining. I immediately stepped back and tapped on the window and gave a firm "no". Haven't had a problem since - but I also have no idea why it worked! With the not standing still before I walk, I would probably take the attitude of - you don't stand still, you don't get to go for a walk. With my other dog, she runs around like a loon sometimes when she knows we're going for a walk. If this happens, I just take her collar and lead and sit quietly on the lounge. She has a set period of time before I give up to get herself under control. My other thought is that you could try "bribery" to create a good association with the collar and lead. Have a yummy treat and when he is waiting quietly, put his collar and lead on and reward. -
