  1. I use the horse fly repellent spray. I spray the beds too and slush down the concrete daily with a mix of water and chlorine in a Watering can.
  2. I think the issue everyone has with him is he won't admit he stuffed up and do something about it. People have no respect for you if you lie and try and cover stuff up.
  3. I thought someone here did it? Purebred with papers FTGH near me.
  4. Yes, that's what i thought, admit you got it wrong. There was the other story of the bulldog that escaped from his place got hit by a car and he wouldn't pay the vet bills. And i think at least one other dog has been injured or died there too, just cant remember.
  5. I remember posting on his page about it. I said perhaps alot of working dogs together might work if supervised properly, but when you added lots of different breeds into the mix its a recipe for disaster. i also suggested he had covered up the death by burying wags before his owner could collect him, and that he should just accept he stuffed up, look at his setup and fix it. Well , i got called some really nasty names by his followers , just full on attack, so i just didn't respond or look at the page again. He is very good at playing the victim, he did it well on BB. He has setup in a very affluent growing area, ( on the same property as live baiting was filmed, which he apparently knew nothing about, even though he is dating the owners son)
  6. We have a few beagles round here, and they all walk with their head down i used to walk one and it drove me nuts, so i know where you are coming from  But it can be done, apparently. Perhaps a rescue with dogs in foster care might be better as they offer a trial etc?
  7. I suppose you need to decide wether you want the dog for you or Annie? As she seems to have picked the beagle. What if you take the spaniel and she doesn't bother with it, will that matter? Beagles can be trained, ask Huski. Perhaps you should keep looking? I assume the shelter gives a trial ?
  8. Give it a go, if it doesn't work stop, you don't know till you try. Matching dogs up with your own pack ( and your lifestyle), is paramount, i always knew what fitted in my lot. I never let a dog go that wasn't going to better place than i could give it, i said no more than once. Make sure you have full back up from rescue if the foster dog isn't a good fit, happened once with me and the dog got moved no probs to another carer. I found it immensely rewarding , letting them go isn't easy, a few i could have kept (and did), but you know its freeing up space for another to save. I havn't done it for a few years, as my pack started to get too old for it, but one day when i move to more garden i will set up a run etc and do it again, i do miss it.
  9. i think Pru is too heavy looking, lurchers are more scruffy sighthounds.
  10. I bought one last week after seeing them on tv ( they were only $10 at the market, and the real deal). However , they are made of solid plastic so the dogs can't grab them, my bully pushed it around the floor for a minute, tried to pick it up ,then walked away. i'm glad i didn't pay $40 for it! If you have a dog who would like to push something around that makes a noise it would be fine, but mine want to rip and kill toys  I just bought a crackle all from K9PRO , and she much prefers it.
  11. Alot of the country pounds have lurcher/stag looking dogs in , ones that havn't made the grade to hunt. Perhaps post in the rescue section, i know a few dolers who rescue these types of dogs.( nina) They are on my list to own oneday too.
  12. Can you ride a bike? I started riding this year, i hadn't been on a bike since i was a kid, so was very wobbly, and fell off twice  but i can cover way more ground than walking and its better for me as i have stuffed my knee's. Ozz is way more relaxed and flakes out allday afterwards.
  13. Ok, thanks, they are inside if it gets too warm in the aircon, and have plenty of undercover shade outside too.
  14. Thankyou, i'm not sure wether he is classed as long or short, so have attached a pic, its like BC but thick. I did bath him and brush and comb it out when it was almost dry last week ( was scared of the dryer), but he is getting on and has arthritis in his rear end, which is where most of the coat seems to be, around his tail and he has a skirt, and he gets uncomfortable if i brush there for long.
  15. Can anyone recommend a good tool for removing undercoat from a double coated dog who is terrified of the groomers? I brush him daily, but it just keeps coming out ,and his undercoat is really thick.
  16. I think considering all the good genuine advice you have been given you are being a bit harsh. You didn't come over as knowing anything, so why would anyone assume otherwise. If your family are breeders you already know about papers and pricing don't you? Next time you ask for advice people might not be so kind .
  17. Its not something i would wish on anyone. I have done it a few times and all but one stayed and fell apart everytime. Once i couldnt stay, it was for a behavoiur issue i had done everything i could to fix, and he was just too dangerous, his waggy tail and looking up at me when we got there, i felt so guilty i left.
  18. i walk mine twice a day, i just wait till its cooler for the evening walk, or drive to the lake at the end of my road, let them out and they have a quick sniff, dip in the lake and come home.
  19. According to their FB page the roo has a small amount of 20/20 in it.
  20. I feed roo from there, but have never asked. Perhaps ask the question on their FB page? I just picked more meat up so not there now for a couple of weeks again, but can ask next time.
  21. Its been bliss these last two days with the one pup staying at their inlaws, just the Cav is there. I don't want to be too pushy, he said they spent a fortune on Saturday at the vets on stuff , although he didn't say what they had bought. The trainer is here Weds, so will see how it goes, and if i hear from him afterwards. I really like him, he is a lovely guy, we have spent many half hours nattering on the street, he is irish and has a couple of big bikes, so we chat really easily. His partner is not so friendly, rather abrupt when she saw her Cav saying hello to Bonn on the drive oneday, snatched it up and marched off!
  22. i always ring a few days before to place an order to pickup. then i just buy extra bits out of the freezer aswell.
  23. I havn't been too mean, its been going on for 2 weeks, at least twice a day for at least an hour each time. So i have let it go until yesterday when it woke both my kids up again. Its more the time of day really, 2 older teens being woken too early is not a pleasant experience
