  1. I kinda wonder why i spend money feeding her premuim dog food when she eats other dogs crap  Just defeats the object really.
  2. I have tried the pinapple, didn't work, so will try the Wild Forage. Bonn eats her own, my other 2 dogs, as they are doing it ,and any poo on walks she can grab, she is obsessed!
  3. i feed 2 on Advance and 1 on VANS, but when the Advance is all gone i am switching all 3 to VANS. :)
  4. Wow ,is it really 4 yrs ,i remember him well. what a gorgous lump he was,he must have loved those last 4 years with you, bullys leave huge holes in our hearts
  5. Did they steal her with the thought of breeding her, then when media reported she was already desexed they chucked her out? Lets hope someone who knows who took her will feel guilty enough to come forward .
  6. We can argue figure's allday, but we all know the huge amount that die. It will never be banned due to the huge income from betting. They need to allow dogs to race for longer, age's perhaps? speed? They also need to start educating the public on how good they are as pets.
  7. My dogs can see out of my screen door in my garage right next to the front door, they throw themselves at the screen if anyone comes up the driveway.I don't need a doorbell  If my front yard was fenced they would be free in it, but its not. Its my yard, my property, i live alone, and i am darn glad they scare the crap out of people walking up the drive. But they are not a danger to society. :D edited to add, if it was fenced they would only be out there if i was home, and they didn't bark alot.
  8. I have been feeding my BT Vans for a while now and she really loves it, i was worried at the start about cost, as being a single mum with 3 dogs i thought it was pricey. However i discovered i only needed about half the amount it said on the pack as she is very lazy, i also changed from roo to chicken as it was much cheaper. My other 2 dogs are on Advance and necks and wings, i am now thinking of putting them all on Vans, i sat reading whats in Advance last night, and not that impressed. I did try the oil supplement once ,but honestly couldn't see any change. I did like the sensitive skin mix best, but price difference is too much for me. They need to do a rewards program like all the other premium foods :D
  9. They owe that dog bigtime, docs had better be round!
  10. I think a boxer sounds more for you, they still look a bit intimidating when full grown, or a very well bred staffy would suit. You could go older as suggested, would cut out the destruction faze, and you can't jog with a pup either. I too got my BT as an ex breeding dog at 3yrs old and would go that route again .
  11. Run a mile if you see an ad with any of the following. Massive heads or rare blue colour :)
  12. Owning any bull breed means you need to be able to read body language and act on it. I have seen many staffys in dog parks, and what Pav says is smack on, they play hard and rough and don't take well to being told off by other dogs. This can escalate very quickly. I do take my BT girl to one as she loves to play, as long as no running is involved, boxing and slamming is her thing, and labs are good boxing buddies, however i am very aware that she will never start anything but would finish it, and have left whenever a rude dog continually mounts her. Also i hear they are very good at destroying stuff if left along time, and the staffys i have fostered could bounce over a 6 ft fence if they wanted too.
  13. She could easily have been stuck in a kennel for the last 3 months going stir crazy. I reckon its been really well done. Sam took her under his wing and did lots with her. Great boost for rescue, lets just hope we don't get a surge of red kelpie's being bred for suburbia though.
  14. I live near BP if anyone needs me to go put my name on him and check him out. we had a family at soccer who has one, but it would be much older, so not theirs, i hadn't even heard of them when he said what it was.
  15. It kinda feels like we all new him with your updates, he was such a handsome boy, how are you goung DR?
  16. looks interesting, i wonder why there is no chicken choice? i have a thing about red meat, seems to cause skin problems.
  17. I use the adult complete mix for my BT, i would prefer to use the sensitive, but its much more, just can't afford it I found you really only need about half the portion it says on the pack, and i mix mine with chicken mince, as roo is just too pricey. Would love to see them do some sort of loyalty, i feed my other 2 Advance, and get a free bag after 10 bags, Petstock also often have 15% off premuim foods ,but Vans is never included.
  18. I am enjoying it too, although after watching the USA ( or was it Canada?) dogs last week, i wasn't as impressed with the trainers this week, check chains that looked too long, and more yanking dogs around than getting them to repond to you. Its been good to see so many Malanois working too. what alot of dog they are!
  19. Shame you don't want one now, i think there is a black one in rescue looking for a home atm.
  20. I think its what the dogs does best on, i feed my BT VANS and chicken mince ( roo is too expensive), and necks. When i changed from Advance it was really expensive, but found i was feeding way too much. Condition wise, no different whatsover, however she loves it and will lick the bowl for ages when its all gone  My other 2 are on Advance, wings and necks, my dally needs low purine so raw is not good for him otherwise i would have them all on it. I am lucky i have a chicken shop near me and buy necks and wings in bulk and freeze them.
  21. Chuck, you raise a really good point there, meat now is so not what it used to be. I know alot of owners who feed human grade mince to their pets( thinking they are giving the best), however i was told that pet mince is much better as its more natural, roo being the least ' messed with". It would explain why so many dogs have allergies to red meat these days. I too would love to see a study on it. The vegatarians i know are all skinny and pale. I don't think we have the right to enforce our beliefs on our pets, or our kids
  22. Alot of people wrongly assume rescue dogs must have something wrong with them, truth is, a few do, mostly its owners who bought the wrong breed for their lifestyle, or expected to the dog to train itself, it doesn't ,so they chuck it out and get another. Matching dogs to people's needs is a sign of a good rescue, there are a few out there who will give the dog to the first caller, so back away if they don't make you jump through hoops  Perhaps start looking at dogs on petrescue you like, contact the rescue, see what their policy is, good ones will homecheck you, give you a trial period etc. The advantage of a rescue who is in foster care is you can tell what they are like, exercise needs ,housetraining etc.the foster carer will know all about the dog and if it suits you. If you want a small dog you can't get better than a "Paws' dog, although a greyhound would suit you too, very low exercise needs, sleeps alot, doesn't smell doggy :)
  23. Try 'Karmacollars.com", i just bought 3 and they are very soft leather, handmade and guaranteed for life, they won't break the back either :)
  24. Take the offer, darn generous! Your dog is 'policing" the pup, something you should be doing, its not your dogs place.
