It is fairly noisy I guess. Having said that I have not heard any other dog dryer so I couldn't tell you if it is louder than others. I love the fact with them though that you can regulate the strength of heat & speed. So if you have a puppy/dog who is lets say sensitive to having there head/ears dried you can slow it right down to get them used to it :) I don't show my guys but I do keep them clean. They are both washed every 3 weeks & they swim daily. So my dryer gets used a fair bit, lots in winter. I use it in summer if need be with the heat off. Best $$$ I have spent Imo :) -

What you are saying about Stella I totally agree with Corvus. I feel I'm in a bit of a catch 22 with her because I need to be a little more disciplined with Stella but I don't want to push her too much as I also can't let get to anxious/stressed. There is only a very fine line with her between coping & totally off her nut. So I need to tread very carefully. She just doesn't have a lid for her anxiety. No control what so ever. The slightest thing eg. noise in the distance & she just flips out, she just takes off yelping & running blind. So I am really trying to keep her attention on me in a vain hope of trying to teach her some emotional control. Then I have the other issue of miss smarty pants, the opportunist, taking advantage of me where ever she can. Some days I cope with her better than other. One thing that is to her benefit is she always tries so hard to please me. She is a very sweet girl by nature & I can tell she doesn't enjoy being upset & she tries so hard not to go off her nut. I watch her & I know she is thinking, will I run, wont I...... Oh blow it I'm off. Must be very difficult for her.

I like the look of those new Syn tek flat collars & they can go swimming in them which is a must cause mine go everyday. Might lash out. Not that they need another collar but they look so good. -
Martingale Collar - Do You Use It All The Time?
BC Crazy replied to Loreley's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
No collars here when at home. Just not worth the strangulation risk IMHO. Our gate is padlocked & we too have high fences. When we are out we wear limited slip collars from EzyDog of martingale ones from Black Dog. -
Time is whats needed & space. I rescued a Border Collie at 16 months of age & had him till he was 14.5. Gorgeous boy he was. He had been serverely abused by a male I think as he took to me straight away. I could do anything with him. Never ever growled/snapped. He was a terrified boy around men. He would run & hide if a male tried to approach him. If a male had a flanelette shirt on or riding boots on he would go off his brain, teeth bared etc. When I introduced him to my now husband he was very cauious. Took him a very long time before he could pat him. He just more or less ignored Red & let him approach him. Talked softly to him & kept calm. Red warmed to him eventually, though he always had issues with most men all his life. So just give your newby time IMHO. Who knows what horrors they have been though so you can't hold it against them nor take it personally really. Good luck with your new family member :)

Yes I think I am too soft & too attentive with her. With self observation I know I jump to her attention to quieten/calm her almost every time she squeals as she gets herself in a real state very quickly & if I don't she just 'ups' her volume. I have found though when I ignore her she gets herself into such a anxious mess that she shuts down. Her eye's go all glazed & she grabs her sucky toy & just sucks away on that. Oblivious to everything & everyone. She is by far the strangest dog I have ever had. she is very complex. A lot of dog. If I was honest way to much for me at times but I am determine to do the best I can with her. I know she has tonnes of potential. Very smart girl. Loves to learn. I've just got to do my best to get her past these few hurdles. Wish me luck with that

Corvus, I have done limited mat work with both & that works till I start to move at any pace other than a walk or I go out of sight with Sonny. Stella breaks position then if I don't tie her up. Nebhket, Sonny is fine & doesn't care if I take Stella away at all. It's Stella she has always been very "needy". It has a constant battle of mine since I have got her to try & separate her to train etc Will keep up mat work & see how we go. I won't let her antics beat me. I just have to learn how to manage her better I think.

I must remember not to resemble a blow fly then  I know I used to be terrible, hands flapping everywhere but I have learnt to control them somewhat, thank goodness. Thanks for the links Nekhbet. Will watch in interest & see if I can get a handle on it. It certainly is not as easy as it looks. Sonny always wants to turn around in front of me. ERRRR Stella positions herself well but I think we need to practise more & I have great difficulty training them as she can't bare to be apart from Sonny so I tie her up & work him & vise versa but she goes ballistic if I take him out of her sight Our neighbours will ring the council without hesitation if I do it too often. I have tried to crate her inside while I work Sonny but am concerned she will harm herself as she thrashes around. Little B she is...

Yes I am wrapped MM Poor girl, hope she begins to improve now...
