Yes you probably have a point there Sheena. My 2 have a blast everyday at the beach for a couple of hours.Very fortunate kids. My males brother wins 'champion coated' in shows where ever he goes, Sonny will just have to settle for champion 'multi colour' coated ;) We have just come back from a 2 week caravan trip, daily boating outings, so now I am trying to repair rub marks on their backs in their coats from their life jackets as well. Hope this livermol & kelp kick in really quickly. :D .
-
Both my BC's swim everyday & are sun bunnies, so I have just started to add kelp & livermol to their diet & see how we go. They both have badly sun bleached pants & through their coat their is also some reddish brown. I hope to see an improve not sure how long it will take Would like to get their coats back to a nice black again. I rinse them off everyday after the beach & use heaps of leave-in conditioner. I see lots of others with their BC's looking all beautiful & jet black.

I tried a DAP collar on my over reactive little BC girl but didn't find it made any difference to her. However I found the spray to be effective. I spray it on her bedding when we are traveling & I do see an improvement in her nervousness. She settled a lot quicker. Hope I was of some help.

Making It Work With Puppies And Babies
BC Crazy replied to ncarter's topic in General Dog Discussion
I don't have any 2 legged kids at home anymore but have 2, 4 legged ones. A 3 year old & a 1 year old & I am flat out with them. Don't seem to have a spare moment, what with exercising, grooming, training, feeding e.t.c e.t.c Even if your friend has 'perfect' babies & 'perfect' puppies it is impossible to do properly IMO.I think this whole delusional idea is a recipe for disaster unfortunatley the furry kids will be the ones that will suffer the consequences! I would be doing everything humanly possible to make my friend see the light. If she wants to get 'a' puppy, why not wait till the twins are at least going to kinda cause puppies need at the very least YOUR TIME & DEVOTION. -
I am following this post with keen interest as I have the same trouble with Stella. She has always been a very vocal girl, very talkative but sometimes I ask her to do an even simple task & she will look right at me fairly closely & speak/bark at my face. Even if i am just sitting with her, not doing anything she tries to engage me in a game she will bark at me. Very cheeky girl. Thought she may have grown out of it by now almost 12 months old but no.

Cowardly bxxtxxds !! Sometimes I am ashamed to be part of the human race Those poor people to lose a treasured family member x 2, dear 'o' dear. I know exactly how they feel as I too lost my BC girl at 10 years of age, due to being poisoned & I knew who did it but couldn't prove it. It is a shocking & extremely painful way to pass away. I would love to give them a gut full of ratsak & watch them suffer. Arse holes.

Advantix - How Waterfast Is It
BC Crazy replied to sllebasi's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I wouldn't re-apply Advantix at all.Put a Preventic tick collar on your dog till the next Advantix is due. I usually apply it every 2 weeks & they both swim everyday but I don't shampoo them for 48 hours after application. If there is any accidents with mine within that 48 hour period & they need to be washed I use no rinse shampoo by Chris Christensen, works really well. Hope I was of some help. -
No suggestion's only 1 question, when can the furry kids & I move in I would love more land so we could all run around more. :D
-
OMG how scary for you. I would have flipped out I think. Glad to hear all is well now. I worry myself to death about ticks etc now I will also worry about bee's & anything with a stinger.
-
I have the same thing with Stella. She has always been a "talker" though. She whines lots, especially when we are out & about & meeting new people she whines with excitment I think. Lots of folks have asked me what is wrong with her cause she is sooo vocal. She doesn't do it much at home though as she is able to inside of course. ;)

Can What A Dog Eats Help Repel Ticks
BC Crazy replied to sheena's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Hi Dandybrush, Re: Sulphur thing. Many years ago I rescued a BC in an appalling condition both mentally & physically. Was covered in fleas & he had sores all over him from scratching. The only coat he had on him was his head. My dad suggested a very old remedy he had used years ago on greyhounds he had to fight flea's & their side effects & ward off tick's. Sulphur & molasses mixed together & put on any bare patch/ broken skin/sores. He used to ingest it by licking it off. My boy loved it. It was very messy & smelt terrible but within 10 days, no fleas & he wasn't scratching. The molasses helped him to gain weight as he was extremely thin. So maybe it might be worth while to put a little Sulphur in our furry kids food each night for the tick thing can't hurt. Who know's. It took 1 year for "Redman's" coat to fully grow back, he ended one very stunning boy with a coat to die for. -
I use Joint Guard on both my BC's. Sonny had an injured pastern & Stella hurt her foot. Both had been running on hard, dry ground. I have them both on a maintence dose ATM & found this product excellent. Yes it is expensive but lasts my about 60 days for the 2 of them. Around $1 a day. I ordered it online form VETNPET,found them to be the cheapest & they have great service too. Both dogs symptoms were gone in 2 days & have not returned. Hope I was of some help.

Paralysis Tick - Dog Now At Vet Surgery

Great news, glad he will be O.K. -
Ha Ha, both my kids must shop at the same sox shop as your loyal pug, they have green sox on mowing day too.
-
Yes jigsaw, If the mower is turned off & not moving they just look at it then look up at me like"come on, pull that cord". If it is off but moving a little reaction, mainly following it. I think I will be separating them to try to fix this issue cause I think the little girl is feeding off the older boy's reaction & barking at him more than at the mower e.t.c. As for the boat, my boy is great in the boat apart from the actual starting of the out board motor which he barks at for 5 seconds & then he is done & that is on the improve. Stella has not been in the boat yet so I am hoping to get some professional advice before we attempt our first boating trip & hopefully she will enjoy it as much as Sonny does. Both my kids have life jacket's for their own safety.

Yes JulesP, Nekhbet ,that was going to be my next move. I can't get to visit Steve at K9 Pro but I had in mind to get some help from him via Internet. Hope he isn't to busy. He has helped my out once before with Stella when I had an issue with her when she was little & was fantastic so I will let you know hopefully we will make progress in time.

Now I think back pretty much all of BC's have done it too. Both girls & boys though, but not on lead like these 2 buggers do & yes it's at the wheels with my boy. Even when I move the wheely bin he tries to bite the wheels on that. URRRR. !!!

Paralysis Tick - Dog Now At Vet Surgery
BC Crazy replied to Akay's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I am the same aussielover. Don't like to speculate. Aren't ticks horrible things. They are so hard to find too. Don't be too hard on yourself Akay as you may well not of known about how bad the area is for them if you have just moved there & as I said I do all of these things, preventitves e.t.c & hope mine hasn't got one as we speak. YOu can just do your best at the time. Good luck with you boy. -
Paralysis Tick - Dog Now At Vet Surgery
BC Crazy replied to Akay's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
From what I know the poison from the tick constricts the larick's & throat making it harder for them to breathe normally. I have always lived in a tick prone area. I hate the retched things. If he was on a preventitive it will lessen the serverity usually. Like Advantix or something like that. There are lots of systems & every dog is different, vomiting, change in their bark, not moving quite so freely, wobbly hind legs, off their food e.t.c e.t.c It is going to be a very bad year for them I think. I have heard of numerous cases already at our local leash free. Hope your fella is O.K. Also the age of the dog, what kind of health he was in previously? If he is young & healthy will stand by him naturally. I don't walk mine or let them wander in area's with long grass/bush. Keep our lawn mown short. I go over them every day & Advantix every 12 to 14 days + Preventic collar when they are at home or camping. Good luck. Keep us posted. Thoughts are with you. -
At home it doesn't bother me as much, just out them inside but when I am walking them & someone starts a mower it is shear Kaos. Both of them lunging at it trying to bite it, barking & growling, going completely nuts. If the mower is turned off. Silence!! Like 'Ho hum' look up at me, "well were done, lets go" . It drives me nuts. There has to be some way I can condition them not to react but when it is happening all they see/hear is the mower So it is a working dog thing I hear. I thought I was the only one with mower rage.
