Stella is on Phenomav Anne. I have noticed a marked increase in her water intake since she started this new medication. She only had one accident last night before bed time but none over night which was great. Always happens when she is sleeping. I only left a small amount of water out over night for her. So maybe it is just her body getting used to the new meds. I have a Vet coming out on Friday so I will discuss this issue with him.

Oh Hazy that pic is hilarious  And the one of Stan, well, it's tuff at the top but someone has to do it

OHHHH how gorgeous

Hmmm perse I was thinking the same but didn't want to seem like a panic merchant. Not thinking to clearly lately, sleep deprived & quite worried about her actually. She is such a precious girl to me & real sweet heart. I'm trying so darn hard to make her as comfortable as possible. Getting nowhere atm though

Quick question guy's. Stella has been incontinent on & off since she had her first Epileptic seizure 5 months ago. She has only been on medication for the seizures for 5 days now & her incontinence has increased dramatically. Poor girl is having lots of accidents in her sleep, then wakes up in such a shock. Looks around & jumps up quickly moving away to find somewhere dry to lay down again Is there anything I can do/give her to help her or should I just contact our Vet??? It is so unlike her as she never had an accident even when I first got her as a pup. She is such a very clean girl & I can tell this is upsetting her in all honesty. She isn't sleeping through the night & is waking 3 or 4 times for me to take her outside as well but her bed is still saturated in the morning. She doesn't see to have any accidents during the day which is strange IMO.

I just emailed the distributor of KiwiPeak as I wanted a couple of samples for my dogs to try. 20 cents a sample so I thought I'd try a couple of each totaling 80 cents BUT the shipping was $6.95 Don't mean to sound like miser but I think that is a rip off. So will just buy a small bag at Natural Pet Store online. If my guys don't like it I will give to my step sons rescue Dob who will eat anything.

Yes I am still trying to get my head around the cost. I have no doubt it is a quality product but with 2 medium size, pretty active dogs I'm wondering exactly how much it is going to set me back $$$ I also feed 80% raw diet & grain free dry food atm. So was just going to swap the grain free for Kiwi Peak. Have to do the maths I think.

Seeking Suggestions For An Entry Level Dslr
BC Crazy replied to Little Gifts's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
I have a Cannon entry level as I am just starting off & love it. You can add to something like this as you improve. Seems fairly simple to use. To start with I just used mine on the auto button till I got used to all the different settings etc.& gained confidence with it. -
Exercising Reactive Dogs Thread
BC Crazy replied to megan_'s topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Thanks Snook. Yes I'm looking forward to the Behaviourst's visit very much. Stella is so much happier since I taken her off the Endep she was on. Don't think that medication was helping her very much .You don't actually realize this sometimes till you actually stop the drug unfortunately. Seems it was just subduing/masking her personality. Definitely not what I want to do to her. The Vet will certainly be seeing the 'true' Stella. She is so happy she is about to burst  So I think we are heading in the much more positive direction now. Justice sounds like he understood his ' time out' gave him a chance to redirect his thoughts & collect himself again. Which he did. I think he is doing really well. I know the targeting part isn't so good but there were no signs of aggression. Our dogs aren't going to get on with every single dog either I guess. In a daycare situation he showed a lot of self control & that is very important. -
Doesn't Want To Go To Bed
BC Crazy replied to penstar1000's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Hi penstar1000, Both my BC's sleep on their beds in the laundry & have always gone outside, then to bed as soon as they are asked, usually around 10pm. They just happily march their way up the stairs, wait for their Kong which they get every night. No issues. I think where things went wrong for your girl was you gave her a glimpse of sleeping in a much cosier place even if it was just for one night. Now it's like, 'oh no, I think I'll sleep with you mum' thanks, no laundry for me!!! What to do to rectify this. Hmmm. This will take some undoing. One thing is I wouldn't be chasing her around, grabbing her as she will think this is a great game this going to bed game. She will run around even more. At bed time I would have her lead ready previously & maybe a small treat or kong with a smear of something yummy in it. No fuss, be matter of fact "time for bed" pop the lead on & off to the laundry we go. Ignore any performance that may occur. Once in bed, PRAISE, treat,& leave. Continue this every night till you can see she is relaxed about her bed time again. I'm no expert but this may work. Other Dolers will have better methods perhaps. Good luck with her. Border's are just so smart aren't they? Give them an inch  -
poor big gentle fella.... Never ceases to horrify me just how bloody cruel & non caring some people can be. Shocking!!! He looks like he has been suffering for a very long time. Covered in what looks like mange. So under weight. I hope this gorgeous bloke can make a healthy recovery & find the loving home he so deserves.

Exercising Reactive Dogs Thread
BC Crazy replied to megan_'s topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Haven't had much time to post of late. Will have to read up on the previous last posts. Quick update regarding Stella. She has been put on Epilepsy medication now as she has continued to have seizures unfortunately. So am hoping to get them under control fairly soon. I have a Vet Behaviourst coming next week for a 2 hour visit to hopefully shed some light on Stella reactive behaviour & teach me some corrective/coping skills. So wish us luck folk's. Should be very interesting to say the least. Can't wait !! -
Training Out An Unwanted Behavior
BC Crazy replied to hankdog's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I applaud you for your patience & perseverance DobieMum Both mine are cat chaser's & it does cause kaos when we are out walking if I don't see the cat first & make an immediate U turn. Very interesting thread you have started Hankdog. I am going to read the previous posts & following with keen interest :) -
I was thinking the same. It is very expensive but I assume the quantity needed per meal would be less than other dry foods. I would still feed raw 80% of the time but just want one or two meals a week as something I don't need to think about before feeding it. Also to use when we travel interstate in our van as we don't have the room to store frozen meat for the dogs. We travel a fair bit in our caravan so I understand the limited fridge/freezer space very well. The less / lighter we carry the better. Also I have tried to get my guys to try offal but neither will entertain the thought so maybe if I can get them to eat a small amount if Kiwi least they would be getting some of the benefits.

I've been looking at this product. Looks great. I'd like to try it for my guys. The ingredient list is very impressive. It is very expensive though. I guess you mustn't have to feed the quantity you normally would. Wonder if I could add a small amount to my raw menu ??? As both my guys are only on about 20 % dry food now. Maybe I could swap the dry over to Kiwi peak ???

Vizsla momma, thanks so much for your very kind words of caring support & encouragement. Very much appreciated Stella is certainly a very special girl & my mission is to make her life as comfortable & peaceful as possible. I have organized a Vet Behavourist to come to our home for a 2 hour visit to hopefully help me with some ideas to manage her. Wish us luck. Really looking forward to his visit. KC, Stella has been on Advantix since she was 12 weeks old. Very interesting to hear about your Kelpie. I haven't heard of such a reaction. Lucky you picked it up quickly.

Thanks Dancin. Yes I have just brought the plain heart worm tablet. Miles cheaper too your right.I just figure the less chemical Stella has in her body, the better. Like not the whole 12 months worth at once like with the injection. She has been back to the Vet as she has had another seizure & she is now on Epilepsy medication so will see how she goes with that. I still have her on Kalma 3 times a day for anxiety. Getting her medication right may well be a work in progress but if we can get the seizures under control will be a huge plus IMO. Far less stress on her.
-
Yes this has made me have a rethink actually. There is a very aggressive dog that lives around the corner from me. The owners let it out every morning for a a nature call wonders around doing what it likes until yo go to approach it. Then it charges at us, teeth bared. He is scary. You just don't know do you????
-
Too quick Kirislin. My sentiments entirely Don't be too hard on yourself JulesP Some dogs can act like this their whole life & never actually bite anyone. You weren't to know. Terrible ordeal for you to go through though, very scary. Just shows you you can never be too careful though.

A Good Breed For Someone With Anxiety?
BC Crazy replied to kiwifeathers's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yes totally agree Dancinbcs. I usually don't recommend BC's either but I feel they would be an excellent choice. They are for me & I suffer with both ailments, anxiety & depression. I think as they are sensiitve souls perhaps. My guys are also excellent watch dogs. They alert me if someone is around & of a night time their growl is frightening, especially my female. She is scary to walk of a night time actually. She has this very threatening growl if someone approaches or is following us. She means business.i have no doubt she would take matters further if pushed. Yet they both are people friendly 99% of the time. As Dancin has said they are extremely good judges of ones character. -
Extremely interesting post Steve. I did type in the magnesium, seizures as you suggested & was totally amazed at the volume of information regarding this. I had no idea. Couple of questions, if I bath Stella in Magnesium flakes, how often would you suggest I do this? Do I leave it on or rinse it off? If I was to supplement Stella's diet with Magnesium orally, do I do this with human form Magnesium in conjunction with bathing her or one or the other? As you say it is worth a try. Thanks for your input. Very much appreciated as to be honest I'm very worried about her nervous/stress levels. It must be taking such a toll on her over all well being.

Thanks for the suggestions folks. Ness, Interceptor was the product I was thinking of. Have used it on Stella when she was a puppy. For the moment am going to just use a plain Heartworm tablet monthly as I have a bottle of stomache wormers to finish off. After they are gone I'll swap over to the Interceptor & stick with the Advantix for the Tick & flea protection. I have decided to do the same with Sonny as well & not get the annual heartworm injection.. it works out muxh cheaper as well.

Sprays just wouldn't work for us unfortunately cause Stella swims daily. Thanks anyway. Appreciate that Jumabaar :)
