  1. Sheena, your website is great. Very informative. DIY agility equipment is interesting. I am going to start doing a bit of agility with Stella in our backyard hopefully so make be stealing a few of those ideas for jumps & weaves. Thought she would love to do that. I have to learn how to start them off. She may or may not ever get to an actual course but I still would like to teach her the right way just in case. We haven't much room so we wont be doing anything too much but at least it's a start I'm thinking. Hankdog, Jake is smart boy learning all his tricks. I think I will just keep up these really easy, short clicker sessions till we can work through this tanti stuff.
  2. Snuggle up dear Mac. Lovely to hear you have spring in your step this morning ol' mate
  3. Gosh as you say hopefully into capable hands.
  4. I thought out of interest I'd go do some research on BRT's as I knew nothing about them. I was thinking Terriers, fast, sharp, small & smart. Well I was very wrong on the small part. I had no idea they were used in military as well. Unusual looking dogs. Quite strong willed by all accounts.
  5. Yes sure Perse, first timer it can be overwhelming as you want everything to be 'right'. I wasn't having a go. Just don't get why you wouldn't want to be with your new puppy a lot. I'm usually can't wait for them to wake up
  6. Aiden3, I was thinking I may of started poor Sonny at the top No wonder he was screaming at me  OK so start off simple. Hand target sounds good. Sheena, I did have the treats hidden & we certainly ended with a party. I forgot the treat bowl was behind me when I stood up I knocked it flying  TSD, I will try & video him. Its uploading onto the computer I'm unsure how to do. Showing me age now. I haven't had any formal dog training lessons as such. So I just read up where I can & have a go. Always seemed to struggle previously juggling the clicker plus treats but I'm finding it easier with each time I try it of late. I was amazed with Sonny's 'bring it on' response even after I just clicked once, he remembered that distinctive sound. I can see it will be much more effective with him than using my voice.
  7. I'm having a really hard time with this thread in all honesty. Puppies, I adore them so much. And to not want them to be around you at times or not to want them to rely on you is completely alien to me. To put a tiny puppy outside, alone, in the dark, again, completely alien to me & why would anyone want to be apart from their new puppy? It's just a really difficult thread for me cause it goes so far south of who I am. I really hope the OP steps up ASAP for this dear little puppy. So very important to start off right.
  8. I usually mark with "yes". I would like to change things up sometimes. TSD, wine sounds good ;) Gosh I may have overwhelmed him. Hope I haven't ruined his reunion with clicker training too much. I do find he does get frustrated at times with most training. To be fair he has taken a little bit of a back seat as far as one on one training goes because Stella has taken every inch of me. Since I seem to have her going along OK atm I am going to get cracking with Sonny. I know it's never to late to restart training but I think I need to channel some of his excitment & frustration. Somehow ???
  9. Yeah Better. I think you may be onto it. He really threw me with his overwhelming excitement at the very first click. I thought he may of forgotten the sound after 4 years or so. I was wrong & he was pretty full on. So I'll reintroduce it gradually. Maybe several short sessions a day. He is so used to taking direction from me & focusing directly at me but with clicker sessions Sonny has to think things through & work out what it is he has to do for it to pay. All I can say is our neighbors had better put their ear muffs on LOL.
  10. Hi guys, as the title says I haven't used a clicker for about 4 years. I did use one with both my dogs when they were younger. So thought I'd drag it out & along with an empty box & see how we go. Well Sonny looked at the box once, I clicked & treated. Then he started offering up a few of his tricks, all good but then he started screaming right at me in what seemed like frustration & barking his head off. Should I do nothing & wait until he shows interest in the box? He seems hell bent on focusing on me & the treat bag. How do I redirect that? I did throw a treat or 2 to try & change his attention. I moved around as well. Am thinking he doesn't know what I am asking of him perhaps???
  11. Your dad is looking wonderful for 84 perse. Such a youthful complexion. You have his eyes I believe. . Happy Birthday to him. I agree with Kirislin very Peter O" toolish. I bet is a bit of a sort. Lovely photo of him. Captures him deep in thought.
  12. Oh yes right on his handsome face. There is another shot across the page where they have a heater between them. Looks like the cat is telling Sunny off, hissing at him :p
  13. OK, not a pound. A shelter &??? If I am to believe what I read on this thread. It seems they really aren't being all that helpful to perspective adopters. I know nothing about BRT but the likes of experienced peps do. Some of which may very well be a forever loving home in the making. I thought that was there objective.
  14. Lovely Patch. Such gentle souful eye's ♡
  15. I find this pound unbelievable. You'd think their top priority would be what's best for the dog. They should be rolling out the welcome mat for anyone that is interested in one if their dogs. Do they want homes for their dogs or don't they. Wonder why they seem so difficult to deal with. None of their dogs will find good homes if they treat every potential adoptee with such arrogance. Sure they have to be thorough & make sure the dog gets the right forever home but it sounds to me like potential adopters cant even get their foot in the door before they are turned somewhat abuptly away. Sorry but I just don't get it. Nek, they won't let you adopt from them even though you have a tonne of experience because you have entire males? Yes & so what??? Got me buggered. What does that have to do with the price of fish.
  16. Sonny started to get a few greys in his ears around 4 years old. He will be 7 in June & now has a few scattered around his muzzle & brows. His ears are loaded with them. I'd say they are very well earned having to put with his infatuated sister
  17. Grumpete, dear Zeph carries toys too. They are funny aren't they  Stella carries 'Pete' everywhere. I have brought 7 of them so she can have a clean one everyday cause by the end of the day he's pretty dirty & as she sucks on the toy to he is soaking with slobber She is a huge stress head so when she gets anxious she always sucks away on her pelican. He doubles as a pillow when she has a sleep. I have never had a dog do this. But then I've never had a dog quite like my girl either  StressMagnet, agree 100% with you. Annie is so very fortunate to have been rescued by folks that are just so dedicated & go that extra mile for her. Hats off to them
  18. Great update KTB. Rookie is going fabulously well isn't he. Seems to have just slotted in. Toilet trained already by all accounts. Smart fella Cricket & Sunny going along just fine as well Sunny is so good around the cat. All hell would break loose if I had a cat in our lounge room let me tell you. Cats bring Stella undone every time. She goes off her nut even if she spots one 100 feet away. Not sure if she wants to chase them or eat them or perhaps both
  19. Westiemum such a heartbreaking time for you
  20.  Your hilarious SM.. I have an i30 wagon.2011 model.I brought the run out model & saved $$$ Fabulous car. Very reliable & cheap to run. I'm really happy with it. Dogs seem to have enough room in the back. Mr BCC fitted a cargo barrier for me so they travel safely. They both lay down & Sonny is a big lad. i30's are deceiving as they look rather small on the outside.
  21. What a gorgeous capture Teekay. I love it. One to treasure that one :)
  22. Miss Banshee sure has attitude to burn by all accounts. All this at 3 weeks old. WOW Good luck Nek LOL
