  1. Good point JulesP & that's why I was after one that folded up into itself & it still needs to be as light as possible.
  2. I'm another in the market for a ramp. I have sold my little station wagon & am now driving our Land cruiser. I can't lift Sonny up into the back & I never let either of mine jump in & out. In all honesty I open the back Sonny just stands there,waiting,waiting... like hurry up LOL... to be lifted out as he knows my OH always does. So have been looking at one but it's plastic & while that means it would be light which is very important to me. On the down side I think it may be slippery. So will have a look at the Solve it ones.
  3. I have an Epilepsy effected 4 year old Border Collie girl. She had her first seizure at 17 months of age. I can certainly sympathize with you. It is terrifying when they have their first seizure. I had never owned a EE dog before nor have I seen a dog seizureing. I though Stella had run into something & broken her spine or been bitten by something. I completely lost it. She was a very severe case though. She looks like she is in a swimming position actually, flat out with her legs stuck out each side of her. She loses control of her bodily functions & vomits as well. Her eyes look terrified but I know she isn't with us. Just horrible really. She was seizureing multiple times a day. Some not as severe as others. Hers are brought on by stress & she is an extremely nervous, anxious dog. You feel so helpless. All you can do is be by their side & clear away anything from around them so as they don't injure themselves. Touch wood, she hasn't had a severe seizure since being on Phenomav, which is wonderful. Once you get the medication at the right dosage they can live a very close to normal life though. Down side of Phenomav is Stella is always hungry & very thirsty. So you have to keep a close eye on their weight. I carry water everywhere we go as well. She drinks at least 3 times more than my other BC. When she first started taking it she was a little wobbly on her back legs but that does seem to go after their system gets used to it. A few things I have done & found has helped her. I contacted Michael McDowell who is a Herbalist. Stella has a herbal tonic. A couple of drops a day. Also with Michael's advice I watch Stella's diet very carefully. No corn, wheat, soy or grain. Nothing artificial. Raw diet to include 10% offal. I try to keep her immune system as healthy as I can. Probiotic daily as well. I also have her on Rose Hip Vital as it has VitC. Stella also has Golden Paste twice daily which I cook. (Turmeric, cold press coconut oil & ground black pepper). Turmeric has a lot of healing properties & is a natural anti inflammatory. Hope you can Ebony sorted with her medication & she can have a comfortable life. Good Luck with her.
  4. Great pic's Snook???? I love sunrise/sunsets. The colours are so beautiful.
  5. He is beautiful kirty. He has grown lots.
  6. Don love's all his coziness. He has such lovely eye's perse. Full of love they are????
  7. Glad you decided this as very difficult as it must have been. Some puppies just aren't the right fit. They are all different as are we... Enjoy your new puppy ????
  8. He is going so well ???? Such a sweet looking boy. His new home sounds fabulous too. Poor Maggie has done a number on herself. Hope she is going to be OK KTB.
  9. That sounds like an excellent game plan Snook. Best to get Justice some professional help if he is so fearful. Poor boy. I know it's $$$. I paid that amount for a Vet/Behaviourist consult with Stella. Good luck with him. Volatile dog's on Facebook. Want to look that up. Sounds interesting.
  10. Lovely pic's everyone:) Jess loves the camera Tay. Gorgeous as ever. Wish my girl liked being photographed. She just isn't comfortable about it at all & it shows. I have only got a couple of decent shots & they were taken professionally. Teekay beautiful once again...
  11. Better late, Bonnie is going really well. Rescue's always have that air of uncertainty around their behaviour cause you just don't know what their previous home was like or what may have happened to them. Building Bonnies confidence will happen but it is a slow process. Routine & consistency is key IMHO. Set Bonnie up to win so to speak.
  12. That is just so sad for both of you ???? Poor boy must be so fearful,he couldn't get back to the safety of the car quick enough. Hope you both were able to regroup once Justice was felt safe again. It is so heart breaking to witness your dear dog in such a fearful state. Very upsetting. Hope Justice can get past this snook.
  13. Thanks so much Snook & Betterlate. Too kind ???? Snook I have always admired your strength on your journey with dear Justice. And your so right. You only need a glimmer of improvement in our troubled dogs & it gives you a sneak preview of what could very well be. Oh & the tears. I've cried me a river over Stella but last friday all the tears were happy ???? Actually this thread has been a dogsend for me as I have found owning a reactive DA dog is very isolating in all honesty. Suddenly you have this out of control, reactive, DA & very sad puppy that you are fumbling your way through with... You keep well away from others with dogs. You can't walk with others with dogs & no one wants to even stop & have a chat if your dog is barking her head off. I found I couldn't even hire anyone to help us. Nobody ... so I could just pop onto this thread & share all your ups & downs with theirs. Also the victories no matter how small. Feel well, not so alone & helpless as sometimes you may well be. So very grateful & thank you to everyone. Had to edit as I re read BetterL post. Well done with Bonnie ???? she sounds a bit like my girl. She is very territorial at times & along with being reactive & nervous. It is just not a happy mix. Especially with visitors coming into what Stella or Bonnie perceive to be "their" home ;) Building Bonnie confidence up slowly may help. Also if you prep your friends with treats before walking through the front door so as when/ if they are approached by Bonnie she is showered with treats. There is one of Mr . BCC's work college's that Stella simply doesn't like. She has never liked him in the house. And she would flick him the bird at every opportunity ???? Just my 2 cents worth & please ignore if you are already doing so LOL
  14. Oh grumpette thank's so much for your kind words. Very much appreciated Stella is an amazing girl. I just adore her. Extremely bright, fast, loyal & loving. My "special" girl, she is a tonne of dog. Owning her has been a huge learning curve for me. She has made me step up to the plate in every way imaginable. I've never owned an unhappy puppy & right from 12 weeks of age Stella was just that. She was so very anxious, noise phobic & very agitated most of the time. She was a fierce little resource guarder & DA. She hardly slept nor rested. Then finding out she is Epilepsy effected & that her seizures seemed to be triggered by her anxiety. I mean her list of issues just kept getting longer & longer. Now 4 years later with loads of TLC & a little chemical help Stella is so happy with life she could burst. She is gaining confidence, learning some social skills all the while I'm trying to keep her under her emotional threshold. Her positive progress lately is something that has really made me smile, on the inside. I'm so very proud of her. My sweet girl We are in this together all the way...
  15. That is an excellent point grumpette & one I overlooked. Jake is doing really very well then HD :) Stella is improving so much around other dogs. Oncomming off leash dogs would previously get barked at & if I allowed her she would rush at them. Very assertive. Now she doesn't bark nor does she rush. Her whole approach seems to have changed. She lowers her head instead of her old dominant chest out,I'm all over you stance. Her body has lost that apprehensive stiffness. No lip curl or growling. Happily stands still for the meet & greet. Then off we go on our merry way. I have been very vigilant with her over the past 12 months or so with regards to her around other dog's. I have changed were we train/play off lead. Found this great place at the end of a park with a walking track on one side so we radomly have passing people, dogs, bikes & everything in between. I place myself where I can see everything oncoming but nothing can approach us from behind & there fore I can be prepared. I usually have Stella busily doing LAT while the oncoming dog passes. Or on occasion I may choose to do & meet & greet. So this is done on lead We also have a practised emergency exit routine if need be. Overtime our daily outings are much more structured. I have taken away all Stella's opportunities to just dash off & interact with who ever she chooses to. Now I make that call. With much tighter supervision & redirection Stella has become a lot more focused on me & she has gained so much confidence. I think all these points are key to her much improved behaviour.
  16. Ouch ???? Do you know what he cut it on Yunjuro ? Hope he hasn't got a bit of glass or something in it. Sonny had a nasty oyster cut on his paw a while back that wasn't healing well so I stepped up the bathing with strong warm salt water. I ended up finding 3 large pieces of shell in it. Healed up really nicely after that ☺
  17. I loved watching your lovely little girl doing some training with gorgeous Ronin. Has he hurt his leg? I must have missed that. Hope he is going to be OK. I need to do some desensitization work with both my guy's. I can handle both of them OK but they aren't fussed on others touching their feet. And being turned over 'belly up' Sonny just flat out refuses. Stella will show her cute belly to anyone who wants to look????
  18. Great result hankdog. Jake did really well & also had heaps of fun ????????
  19. So pleased for lovely Bella Relax & enjoy now sweet girl.
  20. Your son has such a sweet face Teekay. Lovely shot :)
  21. I tried the Adaptil collar with no success. The spray is working well for us too.
  22. Hi Rosiegirl, sorry to hear your Staffie is very unwell. I have never heard of this horrible Coonhound disease. Hope she starts to improve soon & recovers OK. It is never easy when they are ill. Good luck with her.
