  1. Here's a 10 month old .Coco,, http://www.saveadog....gs_medlarge.asp Has now been Adopted.
  2. I had the same thing with one of my daughters.Last year she said she wanted to get a rescue cat ;so i said i would help her find one and we would look at some together. Meanwhile she was having dramas with her ex partner and work. She went ahead without me to an animal shelter but the lady there was not keen to let her adopt as she was renting. This made her more upset.I told her to wait and we would look together. Then she goes to the pet shop to buy food for her rabbit and there's a kitten on it's own. So she buys the kitten who turns out to be too young to be away from it's mum and siblings. As the cat grows he has a list of behaviour problems. To her credit she researched and got help for the cat who is now much happier and well behaved. She did learn a lesson and says she will not buy a pet. from a pet shop again.
  3. Just wanted to say sorry you are going through this distress and i hope you get Pookie back.If it were me i too would go to court and fight for my dog.Good Luck.
  4. An owner may be looking for thier lost pet that dosen't have a microchip. They may think to check the pound but would they know of all these other rescues where thier unchiped and presumed unwanted pet could have ended up. There's even a bigger fine for people having pets who aren't microchipped. Everywhere you go these days, when you buy an animal from somewhere, they're usually already microchipped. Even one well known "rescue" I know who breeds dogs even chips them before selling them.. when she eventually does sell them. The laws have changed recently in regard to having pets microchiped. However there are still many people especially those who have older pets in particular that don't have thier pets microchipped. No microchip does not mean they do not love and care for thier pet or would not want them back if they were lost or stolen.

  6. The intruder would have opened the fridge looking for alcahol and fed the dog to keep it quiet or make friends for if they come back again. I have heard of people keeping valuable items in thier freezer in the hope of fooling thieves.A lot of people have bar fridges in there garages some with padlocks hence the hacksaw.
  7. There were similar adverts in Melbourne for a while .Saying'' Don't take your dog to the pound we will take care of them''etc.Someone put a warning advert about not giving away your pet free etc and about dog fights;and now the other adverts have gone.
  8. An older rescue dog Like a Golden Retriever. One that is past the puppy adolescent stage and has been around young children and cats.Keep in mind any dog you get will need to go for at least short walks most days and have game/ play time with you.
  9. Good on you .That was a good response. Some people just have no idea. There is also the cost of feeding the dogs too of course.
  10. What a handsome fellow.I hope he finds a home very soon. .
  11. Here's one. , http://www.petrescue.com.au/view/144689
  12. Would a Field Spaniel suit this situation.?
  13. Here is another breed selector .This and the one i posted earlier will give you some suggestions i hope it helps. http://www.k9country...erl/dogBreed.pl
  14. Even dogs that can spend a fair amount of time outside may still need some time indoors;such as if they are afraid of thunder storms or there is a heat wave.Would they let the dog in the laundry or part of the house in these situations. The dog would need things to do and play with or he will get bored and dig up the yard bark or try to escape. With very young children taking up so much time the owners would need to be sure they can commit to giving the dog time every day for company walks games and training. It would be a good idea for them to do a fair bit of research into breeds before making any decision Also have a look at this link for more information. http://animal.discov.../page1.html?q=1
  15. This was the point i was trying to make ; you said it better than me JulesP. I hope the OP stays around ;too many new members don't make it past thier first thread; very sad .

  17. My Inlaws had Australian Silky Terriers for many years .They were good with my children.Terrific little dogs.I know nothing about Yorkshire Terriers.
  18. years ago a friend bought a Husky .As he grew the Breeder noted he was a good looking dog.She asked the owners if she could borrow him back to show him;and she did.He did well at the shows and went on to sire some litters .He was not co owned as he was originally to be a pet only.Could the OP not do this and get a pup from him this way if her pup turns out to be worthy.? The Breeder could have given more advise and explained all other options to the OP. Sheridan You are quite right it is up to the owner if they desex thier dog or not..
  19. I think i understand what the OP is saying. When some people lose a beloved pet they wish they could replace it with a copy, as in another pup from the original. As the OP stated ""Continue his line in our family "and "regretted not doing this with our last dog ". I recently had a conversation with a lady who was asking for help to find a cat to "Replace the one that had just died."Not any cat ,it had to look exactly the same as the one in the picture of her old cat.Of coarse you can't''' replace"a pet as they are all different individuals. I would suggest the OP desex her pup and later on get another from the same lines perhaps the offspring of one of his litter mates if that comes to be.
  20. Good news ! With all the TLC you are giving him he will come along in no time. All the best to you and pup.
