    Go Malinois!

Awesome! they are such cool dogs. Mal people correct me, but i thought the black comes from interbreeding the varieties of belgian shepherd. could be totally wrong! But i thought i read that somewhere Eta: RosieFT- totally OT- the cat in your siggy isnt an egyptian mau is it? Looks so much like my cats mother!
  5. A bit OT, but: I dogsat my friends doxie once, and was getting a bit frustrated that he wouldn't sit for his dinner on the second night. but, he HAD sat, i just couldn't tell from the front because his head stayed at the same height Poor boy ETA: my auntie has one now, and she is really nice, but she is indoors and sleeps on their bed, and also has two young girls to tire her out. Some of the ones that came into work were mental though and you could not shut them up! And i did recently read a list that puts doxies at the top of the 'vicious dog list'.
  6. He has such a sweet face
  7. but then again, i just want to smoosh boxers. They are so cute. Such great dogs. I will get another one day. How can anyone not love them haha I do applaud you for taking the time to research and meet breeders :) I think a dog, whatever breed it is, will be lucky to have you.
  8. Stop it Stressy- I am already having a tough time choosing my next breed! Too many awesome ones ETA: Look at the babies!! from here
  9. I love all the breeds you have chosen We used to have all of them. -the only thing with the boxer is they are rather boisterous- so while good for the kids to play with, the kids have to be ok maybe being knocked around a bit. I used to love wrestling with ours- they were such good companions. Also their tails knock everything over so clear coffee tables! -GSD's shed, and i wouldn't really call them shorthaired. - Vizslas are great- would happily run, very happy to be with their humans (not called a velcro dog for nothing!) and are a little smaller than the other two breeds, esp. if female. And within the breed there is always individuals so you cant guarantee that they are reliable with other dogs or children.
  10. I know the lady who makes those beds and I saw her photo of him and just drooled! You lukcy thing Grumpette- you would get to cuddle him! (albeit when he is wet!)
  11. I love welshies! They would be a good size mathc for the labs too. but i personally wouldnt have an issue with a grown cocker and lab together anyways.
  12. Thank you Grumpette! That is terrible. Cockers are lovely dogs, and the ones i know defnitely hold their own with the big dogs :)
  13. agree with the above. i have never taught an indoor toileting- but someone helpful wil chime in :) I have 2 x 24" crates and one 30" crate. For overnight sleeping i would go the 30" just for that extra stretching room and piece of mind. but the 24" also fits each one of mine perfectly fine :)
  14. Kokodas best friend was a viszla :) I don't own Amber, but prior to her family moving back to the UK, she was with me almost every second month for about 5 years- so close enough! They did everything together Amber and Kokoda by Gabby, on Flickr He also loves my friends poodle x and always has! IMG_0036 by Gabby, on Flickr
  15. My dog crate isn't big enough for me, but I could try setting up a tent... Good catch No the 24" crate was a bit snug for me
  16. That is so bizarre! However this comes after 3 separate people in the past week saying "i wont own male dogs as i like to rub their belly without all the bits in the way" good..
  17. I do know that having three dogs sleep on the bed isnt ideal, so i tried to go back to sleeping in a crate overnight but they were just SO annoying! So back onto the bed just to shut them up- they won... at least i am warm in winter not really any benefits in summer..
  18. My dogs would just sit there and periodically remind me they are there Just a scratch at the door or small yip every 10mins or so. Demanding creatures... I say this as deniki has burrowed under my blankets and the others are asleep at my feet -read: spolt!
  19. Can you please give me some links to information about this? Keen to read more as I am considering putting my dog on Vit C due to bladder issues (pH is too high - Vit C can apparently bring it down) but haven't come across any warnings like this. I read it on this forum some time ago, I think it was Dr Bruce Syme from Vets All natural, but I may be way off, which is why I am asking here :) And thanks sas for your informative post :) I have definitely read it a few times, just not sure where and whether or not that would be reliable sources- i have read too many things!
  20. Its definitely best with the pictures - and theres a video :) http://lovemeow.com/...phaned-kittens/
  21. I think you may be getting played too. You want to make it as little fun as possible. Simply put him on a lead, take him outside to pee, then straight back in. Don't talk to him either. Just simple, silent, boring pee time. He will realise theres no fun to be had at 3am pretty quickly
  22. I am a failed dog trainer . That black beast can be lying on my feet - then he accelerates from 1>60 in 4 seconds and is gone - after something moving , somewhere..... I mean - there HAS to be a rabbit/roo/goat/bird/sheep that needs chasing ... *sigh* It is much easier to have him on a longline than get frustrated ... yes, he does get a free run sometimes ..after I do a perimeter check & make sure NOTHING is moving withing 1/2 km !!! *sigh* He comes back brilliantly if there is nothing moving anywhere else ... I have one a bit the same I guess we both fail at training!
  23. He looks so cuddly! Gorgeous I bet you get asked what kind of 'oodle he is all the time!
  24. I took my puppy places from 9 weeks. He is fine- hasn't been sick a day in his life :) *touch wood* Granted not the million paws walk.. but still many dogs in my area. I also groom from home- and don't question vaccination status- so my past two pups have been exposed to many dogs from day dot. Maybe some unvaccinated or ill. Questioning vaccine status is something i should start doing with new clients- i had just never thought to until all these parvo outbreaks! All the salons i have worked in have never done it.
  25. I have always loved the Leonbergers! Gorgeous dogs. Just dont know if i could fit one in my house
