Yes Jaxxie, i think they are totally suited to being outside. It may fade a little, but mine has held up very well :) The picture is the genuine article, so if it is the same as the picture then yes :)

O M G! Calendula Tea Rinse
denali replied to RiverStar-Aura's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
It is lovely! I think i am going to have to buy the shampoo and cologne. Smells so nice :) Also, when making the tea as a rinse, what do you make it in? Ive just been using it as an ear cleaner on a cotton ball so only make tiny amounts in a mini plunger. Just a larger plunger? Considering i have three dogs I dont know how easy it would be to make up a bulk batch haha -
Most Embarrassing Things Your Dogs Do
denali replied to Queen Maeby's topic in General Dog Discussion
some of these are great! Most embarrasing thing ever, was when Anzac RIP and I were out walking and crossing the road at a rather busy intersection with one of those pedestrain crossing at traffic lights. Well he decided he really had to go, the lights had run out, traffic lihts for the cars now green and my dog and i standing in the middle while he pooed. All the cars were waiting for us to get off the road... Gotta love dogs. -
Young Schoolgirls Asking To Take The Dogs For A Walk
denali replied to Boronia's topic in General Dog Discussion
That is how I feel, denali. Not thinking so much that kids of 12/13 are idiots, just so much more aware of what can go wrong. Nothing crazy about wanting to know your dogs are safe   Glad you're in the same boat :) -

Young Schoolgirls Asking To Take The Dogs For A Walk
denali replied to Boronia's topic in General Dog Discussion
I have run a rather successful little pet sitting and dog walking company from the age of about 12/13 :) It was my pocket money throughout school. I used to walk a GSD girl every afternoon, and did so for many years until they moved Not all 12 year olds are idiots- i think at 12 yrs old i knew more about dogs and their behaviour than the average person  I started at the age of 10 working for another company, under my mums name, but i was the actual sitter and was paid as such. ETA: I wouldn't trust anyone with my dogs. Regardless of age. I considered getting a dog walker for every now and again, but decided against it as I like knowing where my dogs are all the time . Crazy dog lady i know! -
Yes, was going to suggest the ruffwear :)

They do look awesome! These ones only come in small, but thought i would share for anyone who may be reading this thread :) I have a wallybed, just a rectangular one, all my dogs love it, and it is so easy to wash, still looks new 2 years later! Not the worlds cheapest bed, but worth it for the longevity so far. Its the most heavily used bed in my house and has outlived quite a few cheaper ones now. Plus it feels comfy :) http://wallybed.com/2012/08/hooded-wallybed/

I groom Stan, the groodle owned by the Henry Hottie lady. She is a little odd, and stands there the whole time i groom him.. I've never tried her beds, but apparently theyre good. If you dont want to buy the bed, Maybe you could buy tontine pillows? they're made of the same thing :)

Mine all eat together. They are very good and will only swap bowls once all 3 are finished. They have been taught they're not allowed to steal from a young age though. And i stand there watching to make sure nothing happens. But so far so good! Kokoda does growl at Deniki when he has a bone, but i just give Koda's out the back and Niki's out the front. Probelm solved! (they can get from the front to the back, but they dont. Silly dogs  ) The muffin tin is a very good idea :) I read in a magazine to use a cricket ball or an upside down cup in the bowl. But when i tried it the cup just tipped over. I had more success using multiple cups right way up and putting biscuits around and in them. But i feed raw now, and dont have the issue of fast eating :)

O M G! Calendula Tea Rinse
denali replied to RiverStar-Aura's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I got my tea! And a conditioner. The conditioner smells lovely! I have not yet used it as a rinse, just wiping a ycuky ear with it at this stage, and it is looking SO much better! May not need a trip to the vet after all. Oddly enough, that happened to me the other day. But not on Steves website. Had no idea what caused it, because that same day i bought something somewhere else.. -
I am sorry to say, but if anyone here is being less than kind, it is you DDD. Blatantly telling everyone else that they are being too harsh would also scare people away, and is not particularly nice to tell someone that their views and experiences are not particularly relevant or correct. When in fact, they are. I don't think you should joke about stories of dogs being shot I think she was given some awesome info here to consider, and I imagine she has read this and learnt something about what she wants to do in regards to housing her dog. Hopefully anyway. People shouldnt ask questions if they are afraid to hear the answers they may get, especially in such a dog-passionate place such as DOL. My $0.02.

Not a problem at all! I am glad you found somewhere like that, and that your guys are getting something good out of it :)

Not a problem at all. I have PM'ed you Rosetta :) This is it exactly :) I have firsthand seen the difference between somewhere with dogs being entertained, and somewhere they are just let free to play rather unsupervised. Theres a big difference between the two.

Places keep strange dogs in runs together? Thats terrible I totally understand that :)

They do! And call me crazy, but i am always so satisfied when i watch how satisfied they are

I have never fed cooked food, though do feed my cavs raw. And no kibble (except deniki likes to steal cat bikkies! ) And they are better for it :) They get bones, meat and organs. Veggies very rarely, and as snacks, but in no way religiously. They get between 2 and 5% of their body weight, depending on the dog. my 2% needs to lose weight, my 5% dog burns it so quickly and 3% is average :) I am sure someone will know if it is the same amount for cooked meals. But i only base it loosely on the percentages, feed more if she is getting skinny and less if she is getting pudgy :) Then you will just be able to do it by sight and learn the amount needed for her bowl. Also make sure she gets some chicken wings or necks, as she needs something for her teeth. Rice and mince will not clean them at all :) You could use any mince as well- chicken, turkey, beef, lamb, pork, roo.

i really don't like this shop. I have seen some horrible things there... One of which was a staff member shoving chicken down a puppies throat. It was a TINY puppy. Definitely not 8 weeks old. I guess it would have been able to chew, though no need to force feed it... I questioned the staff member and she got really angry at me and another concerned lady and then took it behind a door and a kitten with the grossest looking ear infection i have seen. Now this.

Yes I had to strike a number of boarding kennels off my list as they insisted that group exercise was the only way to go. Fortunately I found somewhere that only ever runs dogs from the same family together and insists on feeding them separately. Glad you found somewhere good Steph! Interestingly I have been struck of peoples lists because I do those things :) oh well I sleep easy at nights :) Exactly :) I feel you need places that offer both of these things, so glad you don't mind being struck off lists!

I work at two :) I would not hesitate to recommend one of them to ANYONE with any type of dog. They are fabulous catering to individual dogs' needs, and it is fully airconditioned, the staff are excellent and all the dogs seem to blossom. They play movies for them during the day, have games, put tunnels or play structures out and it is fully mopped 4 times a day. The set up and toys are all on rotation so it is different everyday. Even the nervous dogs come out of thier shell! The other, i work in the grooming salon, and i do not feel as confident recommending them. They do not mistreat the dogs or anything like that, however the staff interact with them much less, it is not airconditioned and can get very hot. Not kept as clean and some of the rowdy dogs are left in with the quieter ones, which i do not really like as it could get messy and it seems to freak out the quieter ones. It is definitely not value for money like the first. They also discriminate against breeds which i also do not agree with, an individual dog basis is much better. Considering they have some not so friendly dogs of other non-bully breeds.. Happy to share details of the places if anyone is Brisbane wants to know :) ETA: i have only taken my dogs once, and it was at the second place. I never took them again as that day no one was constantly supervising them. I didnt feel comfortable with that. I think Deniki would love the first place (LOVES dog parks), Kokoda would learn to love it- though not for the social aspect i feel, and Henry is very socially impaired, so it would take a lot i think to get him to play with other dogs. He'd probably like the treats they give
-
 sheena! I agree, mine have also been comfortable, no complaints here, though they just use it during the day when i am out. They sleep inside otherwise. But it is weatherproof and i have often come home to two of them squished into it haha hence the need for another.. Also no gap on mine :) I have the green one, and it is older, i actually got it from a neighbour who's dog never used it. But it looks nice still :) They also have blue and camo i think :)

I would also love them :D

We have a few of these too and they're excellent. Very sturdy, easy to clean and all the parts are replaceable. I'd suggest shopping around though, The XL size (which fits greyhounds so should comfortably fit a GSD) vary in price a lot between retailers. I paid $189 (including postage) for my last one, some places sell for over $220. I've noticed there are some knockoff varities (like the Mutt Hut) but they seem to be held together with velcro so I'd avoid those. Glad you said that! I almost bought a Mutt Hut yesterday, but then decided i would shop around and see if i could get a better price. Definitely stick to hound house :)

I have another vote for the CKCS. We had one previously who had no issues being the only dog, and Kokoda was until the age of 2 as well. However we now have 3 :D so no one is lonely anymore haha (Just need one more to complete the four colours ;) ) The are certainly able to play with kids, mine don't mind a bit of rough and tumble too. people are often amazed at that, the tiny pretty looking dogs who arent afraid to roll around on the grass and play a little rough, mine also love swimming etc. One of the three isn't fond of strangers walking into the house and you have to tell him that strange people are friendly, but the other two love everyone from the first second of meeting haha They love walks, and mine would walk all day, though they still don't go crazy if a walk is missed. Something i never understood- though am thankful for  Henry only barks if i am holding a ball while at the park- otherwise you never hear from him, Deniki barks occasionally at passing dogs though not every time nor 'yappy' and Kokoda only barks at the postman and when he is super excited while playing :) They aren't a typically yappy breed. Grooming wise, i rarely (I know! ) brush my crew. Maybe once a fortnight on their feathering. Though my boys aren't as heavily coated as some other Cavs around. Deniki probably will be once he is fully grown, but in the meantime my very infrequent brushing is totally fine :) If you have any questions about my Cavs, feel free to ask :) (Photo was todays trip to the beach :) )

I have a hound house too :) My dogs all love it, and i think i am going to have to buy a second so they dont all fight bout it haha
