  1. i ordered the other day, waiting for my order! Now i get just as excited about the postman as my dog does  Edit: Can't type...
  2. Fleas are. We just recently had a huge breakout of fleas. So we flea bombed, did what seemed like hundreds of loads of washing, and capstared all our animals. Such a pain. The dogs are flea free, the cats still bring them in now. So a few more days of captsar for them. And we need to find a product that works on the cats prevention..
  3. good morning all, I have recently acquired my grandmother's CKCS, Henry. He has always had the grossest ears, is itchy and smells really doggy. He was very much loved and always went to the vet for many drugs, but it never worked for long. I am switching him over to a raw diet, he was previously eating wellness, as I believe he could be allergic to something in the food. In the meantime his ears do not get cleaner with the drugs/eardrops etc, and cleaning them with anything else just makes them more moist. I will say now tat it isn't a black wax, its more yellowy and pus looking. Gross I know.. But its not for lack of trying to fix them! Is there anything else I can do to help him? I thought I would try the calendula rinse for his other general itchiness. Could I use that on a cotton bud to wipe over his ears? Or if not, is there anything else that I could try? TIA!
  4. They look awesome Hankodie! I was resisting, but after seeing your picures... no self control here You chose the pattern i loved :)
  5. may i ask who it is you are doing it through? I would love to do this with Kokoda :)
  6. I used to feed them a couple a week, but know plenty who feed one or more a day. no ill effects. This is a common myth i have read many times. HOWEVER, if you feed the whole egg, eg. the white and the yolk it balances it out. Because the yolks contain the biotin.
  7. i feed raw too and use this as a back up/training treats etc. No complaints here either! id say go for it :) Maybe check out http://www.naturalpetstore.com.au/index.php for pricing too :) Shop around a bit.
  8. The RR is a larger dog than the GSD. Not sure if thats going to be an issue because you said med to large. There is a LOVELY one at the dog park. He is a huge boy, but so so gentle and well behaved. He listens to every command his owner says. (unlike mine ) I also wouldn't recommend the samoyed to be left alone often. the ones i have now, only 3, but all three have been nuisance barkers and a bit destructive. This may not be a true representation of the breed, but what i have experienced. What about a pointer of some sort? My friend works 9-5 and has a GS pointer, she walks him twice a day, and trains him, but they are low shedding. Active gun dogs, but a GSD is a working breed too, so pretty much the same amount of work required.
  9. You could also go back to your vet and ask for the record, or even another vet saying they have seen the surgical scar/tattoo?
  10. Thank you BC crazy. It came as such a shock! So now for all the organising and notifying of family from interstate. All a bit crazy in such a terrible time. Thank you all for the advice. At this stage it seems we will be keeping him, though this isn't 100% certain. Will sort that out as soon as possible. I will try and keep his routine the same, or give him a totally new one. And some of her clothes. Hopefully he doesn't grieve too long.. I've never had to deal with a left behind pet before, so this is all new to me.
  11. Hi all, My grandmother passed away suddenly last night, and she has a cavalier king charles spaniel. He is SUPER attached to her and would howl when she left and pace around when she was gone. Is there anything we can do to help ease his pain now that she is never coming home? I know with dogs sometimes it helps if they see the body, but that isn't possible. So would an article of clothing help or anything? I just feel so helpless for poor Henry TIA
  12. i feel like he would have had to put the dog up first? It would have been easier than if he had to pull it up second.
  13. Does Lacey smile when she does this as well? Gabor used to do that & be so proud of himself Ok koda does this too! Glad mine isn't the only evil one
  14. you can use an app on your iphone. i don't know if there is one specifically, but you could use one of those ones that records snoring or something similar? I imagine that would be more cost effective :) You'd just have to leave your phone for a day, which for some would be very hard!
  15. Love it Clover! Especially the head tilt on the middle BC :)
  16. hahah how cool :) Yep, so much work! I couldn't do it haha
  17. Sorray, also no idea in WA. But, One of mine is ball crazy! Loves to fetch. The other will fetch at home, but not when at a park or somewhere :) both love a good tug of war at home too :)
  18. Glad i found this thread! i would love to do this! However i do not trust my dog on a bike, so may have to get good at running 20km.. I have wanted to do this for a while now, i think its time to actually start training. How many people do jog it? I don't want to be a lone jogger left behind at the back  Waiting on the QLD dates too :)
  19. thanks for sharing, made me laugh!
  20. I actually disagree. It's the vanity of it all that bothers me. What comes next, doggie earrings for Fluffy? Nose rings for your hipster Frenchie? What if this were to set a precedent and that was the next wave of doggie fashion. You can take your dog to a puppy tattoo parlour and get Rocky a nice big tattoo to make sure everyone knows he's a 'badass' Why can we not just love our animals as they are and not set a precedent for them further becoming an accessory or a fashion statement. It's not comparable to desex tattoos or working dog branding which actually serve a purpose, it's just vain and stupid and I would be seriously concerned if it took off. As for the woman with her 'my dog is cooler than yours' bravado. She sounds like a genius. Actually, I've discussed this with my sister, for her cats and my dogs. Name tags/identification in a lightweight form on an ear tag (or even through the loose skin on the neck) would, in my opinion, be a much safer alternative for both cats and dogs over the traditional collar. Basically, an ear tag/skin piercing when they are a young puppy/kitten, it will heal quickly, yet the hole will remain for life. As they age, you can change out tags etc to easily reflect current details, and worst case scenario is a ripped edge of the ear/skin tear requiring maybe a stich or two, as opposed to potentially hanging themselves to death if their collar gets caught. Unfortunately I haven't been game enough to do it because of stupid animal rights douchebags. They'd probably report me to the RSPCA, who would then come and kill all my animals because that's what they do. I don't see the need for that, just buy breakaway collars. My cats wear these and they are all alive, after 19, 6 and 1 years respectively. Sometimes the cats just turn up collarless, but thats rarely. And I buy cheap engraved metal nametags from a guy on ebay who does them for $4.95 including postage. So its hardly the end of the world to replace. And what about flop eared dogs? I don't see how it would work on a spaniel. A kelpie or similar yes.
  21. tie-ter as in titration makes sense, but i have always read it as titter, like critter hahah This has been a very interesting thread, and timely, as my dogs are due for their vaccs. Lots to think about and need to see if my vet titres.
  22. My dog would not stay in the boat, i can see him now just jumping in! I am impressed with bindi :) Kokoda has no self restraint and i am a terrible trainer who tries but cant always stop him diving into water He is known to slip harnesses or chew leads to go for a swim
  23. some awesome photos! She is very talented :) Thanks for sharing
