  1. Giving you proper help is beyond an internet forum. You are in Qld. I suggest you contact Val Bonney who lives at the Gap. She has done obedience for years with GSD, she travels overseas to judge, and to train trainers, and she has trained trainers here. She is "older" and extremely experienced - particularly with GSD. I have never spoken to her without getting some good advice or suggestions. And - she is not too expensive. She will know what to do to turn this norty doggie into a model canine citizen. If she cannot help herself, she will know who can.
  2. What a creep. Oddone by name, odd one by nature. The punishment was nothing. No normal person beats a dog half to death for defacating on the carpet. Wonder what he does to his kids? He looks like a lazy bully too. Bad cess to him.
  3. I have had one ultrasound done in 30+ years of breeding. IMHO, there is no need to do it - and it is better to save the $$ and put towards a caesar just in case it is necessary. You wont find out anything you wont know in a few weeks - and you can't change anything anyhow. And it does expose the bitch to stress, diseases etc.
  4. I have noticed that people appear to be more foolhardy and less careful. Not just with dingoes or crocodiles, but with everything .. they wander all over car-parks, not looking out for cars .... someone decided to cross the road at the lights just as they turned green - obviously hadn't looked for the red man .... and didn't look at the cars either. These scenarios are regularly repeated --- because people don't seem to watch out for themselves now. Sad about the dingoes.
  5. I recently found a Queensland site on facebook which is full of advertisements for unregistered staffordshire bull terriers, un registeredAmerican staffordshire terriers, and pitbulls. What is wrong with people? Do they not understand that councils can seize any of these dogs/pups and destroy them? Or do they not care? I am appalled that people can care so little for their dogs that they would breed solely to full black plastic bags at the pound
  6. Link and reference? As far as I know, the horse was a pb QH, Flag is Up or Flag Up, which was shown and also stood at stud.
  7. Happy birthday Nelsson, what a grand old gentleman you are. I hope you are having bbq chicken and cream cake for your celebration!! May you have many more years in good health and spirits.
  8. I recycle the plastic supermarket bags. Nice and thick, good size, price is right.
  9. Dogs which have been used for bestiality are always damaged. If not physically, then mentally. Always. I have unfortunately seen some. I hope never to see any again. Sandgrubber, there can be no excuses for these disgusting pieces of human trash.
  10. Sometimes those "puppy" murmurs are gone around 12 weeks. Sometimes they never go, and sometimes they cause no ill effects. I don't think it was very good of the breeder to drop off a pup with a murmur. I don't think the pup should have been sold at all. If the murmur subsides, it can then be sold. As the owner, it is now probably sensible to take the vet's advise - and wait a few weeks. However if it hadn't disappeared in a few weeks I would be re turning for a refund. Magnus the cocker was supposed to have a puppy murmur - it never went away, although he was no affected, and led a long and busy life. I gave a relation a Cav pup I bred with a congential murmur - it didn't go away either, he is 14 now, and just recently began on heart medication. I would never sell a pup with any sort of murmur.
  11. Boxers are usually wonderful with children - quiet and responsible. And they have titles in agility, jumping, tracking, and work as SAR dogs. Here's a top agility (white) boxer https://www.youtube....h?v=1rSBGX3A3iQ
  12. *sigh* Right up there with the woman who phoned me about a boxer pup. When asked, she said she had no fences. When I asked her how she would contain the dog on her property, she answered that she would chain him up. I told her that she wouldn't be chaining him up, because she wouldn't be buying him. I suppose she and all the people above, simply went off and lied to the next breeder/rescue they came across.
  13. Pers, my pet kangaroo Basil (Western Grey) could also scent rain (or he was psychic) Not a cloud, nothing, but Bas would be banging on the back door to come inside - he hated being rained on - and sure enough, within a couple of hours, down it would pour!! It's always bothered me that a native animal would so hate rain, but as he also loved riding in the car, drinking sweet milky tea and eating biscuits whilst sitting on the couch watching TV, I finally decided he was a Queens Counsel in disguise. Probably on the lam from the Mafia!! And he could knock on the door to come in. If he was outside and no one was home to let him in and it rained, he would cringe under the tank stand during the rain, and go "kkkkkeeeekkk keeekkkkk" at me when I came home to indicate his distress that his grey suit and waistcoat was getting wet. As required by law, I set him free when he was old enough, and he rushed back inside saying he wasn't going out there, the joint was full of flamin' kangaroos and echidnas and stuff, and the prickles would ruin his suit. So, finally, he was free to go, but he chose to stay. As for the woman with the dogs. It would be so totally laughable if it wasn't so sad. Sorry to derail the post. Pers made me do it!!
  14. From the article Poor dacshund, but that's their natures. Very brave. He deserves a memorial.
  15. Absolutely. As it doesn't matter that pit bulls are way down the bite list in Aust. and there has never been a fatal attack on a human by a pitbull, so they are banned. As scientific evidence shows that banding the tails of newborn pups causes no pain, so it is banned. As these laws were brought in without much viable opposition, so will further laws against brachycephalic breeds, and further laws against more breeds, will be enacted. There does not need to be any evidence, we allowed AR supporters into positions of power and now they are in positions to ban or modify anything they like, and make no mistake, they fully intend to do that, until all "companion animals" are "set free". There is not point bleating about "unethical breeders" or "byb" - it does not matter how healthy or unhealthy the dogs are, tbey are for the chop. Cavaliers have already been banned in one European country. However, the public (owners) protested so much that the bans were removed.

  17. These are quotes from Ingrid Newkirk (born July 11, 1949) is a British-born animal rights activist, and the co-founder and current president of PETA, the world's largest animal rights organization. Source -http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Ingrid_Newkirk It's not about how healthy/unhealthy dogs are it is about AR banning the ownership of pets. It's been going on since before 1988 and dog owners still don't heed the message. AR members are on councils, on RSPCA boards, in government, and they are following their oft stated agenda. The AKC, which is closer to the action, gets it. No one here does, so the brachycephalic breeds will go the way of the pit bull and short tails (and many previously docked breed breeders). Many breeders wont be happy to x a pug with a foxie to get longer noses, so they will walk away. Pekingese will probably be banned. Small numerically, few breeders to complain, and of course, no breeders of other breeds will help. After they are all gone, maybe German Shepherds? Who knows?
  18. Well, we have known this was coming for years. I would like to see VicDogs response, assuming there is one
  19. Is desexing compulsory in the ACT? I find those statements difficult to believe.
  20. Pantene makes a good dentangle spray which works well on dogs. Not very expensive either.
  21. As CavNrott said - Sentinal - purchase monthly, in the correct size for the dog. Try the net, budget pet products; oveds - google them, and price check. Cheaper than shops. Easier for you to use one thing does all than to be mucking around with all kinds of stuff. If you don't want to do that, go Drontal 5kg now, and go for dimmitrol for heartworms - daily - supermarket, pet shop or the net. Leave fleas until you find some.
  22. There are 2 kinds of Cavaliers. The greedy, and the picky. Yours is probably a picky one. She may have tonsilitis. Get her checked. Her weight etc looks fine to me. If she checks out ok, get her onto something regular - raw, as the breeder fed her, is fine. Try to ensure she has some variety over a week or so. And most cavaliers love chicken necks. She may have a preference, and you will discover that in time. Put the food down, leave it for 15 minutes, and then remove it. Keep the other dog away. If she doesn't eat it, nothing else. She should be having 2 or 3 small meals a day at 5.5 months, in my opinion. Don't keep swapping the food. You have more chance of her eating raw on a regular basis (the voice of experience). Sometimes they love a little liver or heart - but not every day. If she is gaining weight and is healthy, all is well. Remember their stomachs are about the size of a mandarin. Many cavs are too large. She sounds about right

  25. Hi moofius, I am giving a link to a website on how to groom your cocker spaniel by Toni Dennis, a well known NSW breeder, exhibitor and groomer. It will help a great deal. Tells you what to buy, and what to do. Good luck http://tarrendayle.com/CockerGrooming.html
