  1. I hear ya Hazy, Ya know a simple apology from people like these when they are in the wrong would go a long way. I would be mortified if my dog was the offender. When the one in the wrong starts up or get abusive it is insult to injury and definitely a red rag to me. Oh for sure but apologies are far and few between, it apparently becomes all our fault I had a guy a while ago who's SWF (and I'm not bashing small breeds, we've been rushed by all sorts) who after his dog bolted across the oval to snarl and have several nips at my greys legs before he FINALLY caught up with it yell at ME and say "why would you own those sort of dogs that want to kill everything?" WTF, I said "mate, put your dog on a lead it's not hard". Of course my blood pressure was rising fast as he chased this snarling little dog around in circles until he finally caught it and then I find out he didn't even have a lead! He just let it out of the car and off it went. He then told me he was reporting us, yeah go your hardest mate, honestly you can't put brains in statues. I can't believe there are people like that out there?! Wtf?! Can you image the report? Well they had their muzzled dogs on lead and mine ran over..... Hopefully they did 'report' you and got a warning themselves!
  2. Sorry this happened to you I find the local ovals tend to be attended by the less trained/managed dogs, whilst the bigger 'parks' such as Yokine in the north (unless it was this park lol) has better behaved dogs and owners. This may be because you can walk on the path around the park, so dogs tend to say hi and then move on. Of course a lot of people stand in the middle of the park and chat, not keeping an eye on what is going on I hope you can get your pup some good experienced with some older dogs quickly and this experience doesn't scar him.
  3. Her owners may have been found..! Just waiting for confirmations :) In the meantime she has been getting nice cool baths and lots of attention :)
  4. If you google 'pet rescue French bulldog', any they have on there should show up (gets round not being able to enter a breed!) At the moment there is Pablo in NSW but it sounds like he needs experienced owners - not saying you aren't but he may not be right for your home. Good luck with treatment :) Hope you find a buddie to help you through it.
  5. We run a 'kissing booth' at our annual shelter fundraiser, always a staffy selected for the job as they love giving 'kisses'! It goes down really well, raises funds and is also good PR for the breed :)
  6. I hope they were happy tears! After making people cry with the first video I did, I really felt an obligation to make a 'happy' video. And then about a thousand people are saying how much they're crying again! Haha! I know mine were happy tears. Ruby was almost flying with wiggly happiness! Such a lovely pup. I think you should raise funds by auctioning off hugs and kisses from Ruby herself ; p
  7. This is the picture I terrify my OH (and my JRT ; p) with lol! I tell him I'll get a similar tibbie pack when we retire and he won't even notice new ones :) Until the are having a tibbie stubborn strop of course ; X Want to push the OH over the edge, TT? Flash this one at him, too. Cheaper by the dozen. Click, enlarge. Note to self: Got to read showdog's list of responsibilities again. Or stop looking at these pics. Aw!! The bottom right one looks like Chew-man! I think a pride of tibbies would be easy......more like having cats.....

  9. Yay!! So glad she can finally go home! Thanks to all who fight these stupid laws, as just an average dog owner I'd know if need support.
  10. Signed. If I was anywhere close I would be at that meeting. Poor Ruby, she needs to go home to her family.
  11. This link just came up on a local rescues Facebook.... Surely it's not true?! https://m.facebook.com/OscarsLawAUS/photos/a.168260726535442.39581.135173789844136/784037154957793/?type=1&source=46 'Mini St Bernard's'?!
  12. Pretty much confirms what I already thought of you :p I swear I was (slightly) saner before Belle burst into my life ; p
  13. Belle was terrified of a statue by our old house, of a man climbing out of a hole. I got her over it by hugging it and making her think the statue was throwing her treats (neighbours always looked at me funny after that....). A year later and we were back in the old neighbour with Chewy. I thought he'd also freak but he just sniffed it and peed on it.....
  14. What a wonderful last day (and entire life) you have given her. I'm so sorry for your loss.
  15. I'm so sorry for your loss. What a wonderful, perfect life she had with you.
  16. I was at a busy walking track last night, it is well used by walkers, runners, cyclists and people photographing the wildlife on the lake. There has been a lot of work on bringing the swans and native birds back to the lake and it is (usually) calm and lovely. All dogs on lead and people know not to let their dogs near others as it block the path. Last night some idiot decided to run around it whilst his off lead Kelpie stalked and chased the birds/swans, ran up and jumped (literally) all over other dogs. It was highly excited and not listening to anyone, least of all the owner who just ran and pretended the dog wasn't with him.... When it came to us I blocked him and shouted for the owner (told him one of mine wasn't friendly and to come get his dog - not really true but she used to be very reactive and still isn't a fan of being rushed). He said sorry he left the lead at home and it was too far to go back to get?! The dogs collar was also at home.... When I asked him if he cared if his dog killed a bird or got in a dog fight, he just shouldered it off. I said maybe the fine would help him care more... I really hope they do catch him again, maybe then he'll get it.
  17. It really does depend on the dog. My tib boy is more active then my JRT! She will walk and enjoys the odd zoomie in the park, but at home she is almost comatose and only moves if food is involved. Tried agility - she got in the 'tube' and lay down for a nap, tail wagging as if to say 'I'm so smart'......
  18. Off topic (sorry) - but are you supposed to replace the furminator after a certain amount of time? Can it 'blunt' (for want of a better word)?
  19. Lol - welcome to the world if incredible cat-climbing tibbies! Chewy has his own cat tree to play on..... We 'lost' him when we first brought him home (as an adult not puppy) - found him on top of a cupboard. Minimax has some very good suggestions. A safe room barricaded off will probably be your best bet. Sooooooo cute!!! Awwwwwww!!
  20. My boy detests water (although he does enjoying kayaking but has to be collected/dropped off on dry land and not get splashed ; p), so no advice I'm afraid. However I think we need to see pictures! To um, help.....hee hee!
  21. Please don't beat yourself up, you are doing right by your little one and he'll be fighting for you. Fingers and toes crossed for good news.
  22. I'm going to see Turid Rugaas in May, I can give a review then ; p I'm not a dog trainer and have no desire to be, but as an owner and vollie at a shelter I try and learn as much as I can when the opportunity presents itself.
  23. Happy birthday Odie - the Minnie Mouse is sooo cute!! Lucky girl to have you as an owner :)
