  1. I'm so sorry this time has come. Hugs to you all xxx
  2. I think I would try modifying the environment and using training and stimulation games before going straight to an anti bark collar. Seems a bit extreme for a pup. I really don't think the dogs like it and it only seems to work while they are wearing it, so its not really training them anything...
  3. I think our neighbours use some sort of anti bark collars and the poor dogs look sooooo sad when they cannot bark at us from the fence When the collars wear out, the dogs are back happily barking at us
  4. I bought a double camp chair which folds up into a cylinder, like all the single ones do. My two use this as their camp bed, up high off the ground, protected from wind and portable to move around. My friends thought I was spoiling my dogs rotten when I got it, but it is so useful and keeps the dogs out of the way, they all want one for their dogs now I used to have an actual dog bed that folded up the same way, it was lower, but it didn't hold their weight and collapsed. Edit to add they only use this while we are awake, they sleep on our beds at night time!!
  5. A problem I have is if I catch her with something and call her off, its usually maimed and not dead, whereas if I'm not there its killed outright. Terrible topic, I hate anything having to die ????
  6. Yes I have an issue with my terrier killing things (lizards in her case), but for you to be able to call him off his prey, that is very impressive - well done Scotty! I wish I knew how to train terriers NOT to kill....
  7. Oh no ???? did not want to hear this. So sorry xxx
  8. Hope the vet can give you some answers today, get well little one xxx
  9. You had his love for such a short time, its not fair is it. Hang in there. He was a beautiful boy and lucky you to have known him for his time here. xx
  10. So very, very sorry. We said goodbye to our special boy more than 12 months ago and I miss him so much Good memories of a most wonderful best friend, they go with love.
  11. Oh no, how unfair. What a beautiful baby he was. Was this expected? So very very sorry for your loss xxxx
  12. Thanks for your ideas guys, I've put strategic hiding spots round the garden for the lizards but I was wondering if I was only encouraging them to come in. The last few years' lizards have been pretty tame, probably because they were there before the terrier and knew our other dogs were no real threat. The new one this season seems quite quick and more aggressive, so maybe it will be smarter than the others, hopefully. I tend to keep the dogs locked inside on very hot days in case of lizards and koalas in the garden, to try and keep everyone as safe as possible. Terriers are amazing dogs, but the need to kill things I find a bit distressing and try to not let it happen.
  13. From your dogs? I have a terrier who keeps finding and disposing of them. How do I train her to "leave". If we see one and we are all there, I can be fairly sure get her to leave it if she's not over stimulated by it, but when I'm not there she munches them.. We have tried putting them in our neighbours dogless back yard, but they come back!!!
  14. Ah, so very sorry. Its the most difficult thing.
  15. Love the sequence of photos here! Thankyou ????
  16. I love my dogs, but wanted children, so it wasn't one or the other. I think I have dogs (apart from the fact I am besotted by all things dog related) because I have a need to love and look after something which having a dog gives me. The dogs did take a little bit of a back seat when the kids were young, but never really in comparison to how other people think you should bring up dogs
  17. So sorry it has come to this. We certainly understand what you are going through and are here for support through the difficult times to come. Focus on the good days and know when its time to let her go she has been most loved and adored member of your family, she asks for nothing more than that.
  18. I'd be questioning WHY he got expelled from doggy day care a little more. It sounds, to me, like his behaviour was inappropriate and that's why they banned him. If this is so, you may have some behavioural issues to deal with before letting him loose in a dog park, which would be a similar situation to the doggy daycare. Simply barking should surely not be a reason to ban a dog from daycare?
  19. The puppy is NOT the boss, he is way too young and inexperienced for that. The puppy is being annoying to the older dog and needs to respect his space. Either the older dog will show him this with a real telling off, or you will step in and advocate for the older one and teach the younger one manners. There is no way you would let a 5 year old child be the boss or you would have a most obnoxious child, same with the pup, its young and needs boundaries set and needs to respect his elders.
  20. Yeah, don't let the pup take over the older dogs space if he doesn't want it. It is his right to sleep unannoyed if he wants too. One of my dogs doesn't like any other dog to be anywhere near him when he's relaxing and that needs to be respected. Doesn't mean they don't like each other. Isn't 7 months a bit young to be pack leader? Id be training the youngster to respect his elders a bit....
