I too hate off lead dogs rushing up to us, sends my girl into a meltdown and its very hard to get her back from that. But controlled situations she can be fine and enjoy herself, as long as I keep reading her body language and keep an eye on the situation at all times. Its very tiring though! You deserve pizza and a lie down :laugh:

My daughters dog runs up and watches the animals on tv with great interest and he will even try and catch balls on the tv! My two just ignore it.

Thanks for the lovely photos - we have just come back from 2 weeks up the Strzelecki and down the Birdsville and what lovely memories We took the hounds who were fantastic and well behaved. So many wildflowers out at the moment and so many Sturt Dessert Pea - though the ones we saw had Black Peas on them. I'd love to do the Simpson - we went up Big Red and that was about it. How difficult is the Simpson to drive?

Mine escaped once, not sure how, but one ran straight to grandmas house (they lived close by back then) and the other sat at the front door and growled at anyone trying to put her back! Luckily we got a call from grandma about her little visitor so I rushed home and reinstated them behind the fence ????

The 4th photo are violets. I have them in my garden, very pretty. Don't know if they are poisonous or not, we've had no troubles with them.

As hard as it is to think about now, when the time came it was just me and my husband. We didn't involve our other dogs, just spent the time concentrating on him only, no distractions just peace. When our children were young we would tell them their pet was getting sick and tired and soon their bodies would get weaker and not be able to carry on. There are lots of lovely books for them about pets passing away that may help.

One of my dogs started eating our old dogs poo and only his poo. Our old dog had kidney disease and was on different kibble to the others. She doesn't eat poo now he has passed. I assume it was more concentrated, so she liked it...

And what is it with some visitors who just leave the door WIDE open! I had people staying over on the weekend and they traipsed in and out leaving the front door wide open. Luckily I caught it each time, but had to ask them to close it behind themlves... My dogs were looking very interested at the big wide world out there!

Charlie had a good couple of years after being diagnosed and we were very strict with only giving him the hills kd. I was amazed at how the food helped. Hope you too have a good run.

My boy was on Hills kd, he lasted quite well on that for quite a while. Fingers crossed for a long time left together.

Hope he's ok, sounds like some sort of ulcer type gastritis thing maybe (technical term "thing") hope its easily fixed and he's back to normal soon. Keep us posted.

Poor Don, poor you - what a worry! Glad it all turned out well, it takes a while to settle after that! Funny how they all get stuck in when one is down...
