  1. They visited my daughters workplace today with a couple of older puppies from SA Rescue! Lots of VERY happy workers cuddling puppy photos. ???? Great for work morale and certainly brings rescue to the forefront of a lot of peoples minds now. I think they need to come to my work...
  2. I don't have it, and after 40 years of dog ownership, certainly are not out of pocket. Touch wood....
  3. Yes I agree, I think you are feeding too much. My 9kg dogs get half a cup of premium dry food with a spoon of yoghurt or an egg or 1 sardine once a day. They get a carrot stick and some apple in the morning and bones on the weekend. I would cut the food down by half and feed one third 3 times a day with the pup and start some new eating habits.
  4. I feed mine together, the competition factor tends to make them less fussy. Keep an eye on them to make sure there are no fights or swapping of bowls and pick up leftovers when they have finished. Never let one bully the other for its food either.
  5. I would remove her from the room when you vacuum. She will get better as she gets older with it, but for now keep her away, don't stress her. My dog now just removes himself from the room when I'm vacuuming.
  6. Depends on how allergic he is but plenty of Maltese mixes looking for homes. The Maltese doesn't shed and is fine for my daughter's allergies.
  7. I am so sorry you are in this situation, its never easy but you will cope, somehow we do. Make the most of the time you still have together, enjoy their last days. It is a privilege to see them through the end of their lives and it is ok to be a blubbering mess, its because you love them.
  8. Oh, my condolences to you. Gertie - lovely name and one very well loved dog.
  9. Hi jars, I would take your vets advice, I've desexed my female dogs at that age and have had absolutely no problems with any of them, and one of them lived til the ripe old age of 17 ???? Much easier all round. CHA
  10. Happiest day was when my rescue dog barked ???? knew she felt at home then!
  11. Joint guard is what we use here on their food each night. Also go see the vet for some cartrophen injections and advice. Weight management is also very important to ensure he is not too heavy causing more pain on his joints. Lots of other types of supplements for you to try as well.
  12. Ah now I'm crying on Christmas day, miss my boy so much. He has left such an empty space, love you Charlie xxxx thank you for that beautiful poem :)
  13. So sorry to hear this, not the news you want at this time...
  14. Oh gilly, that's not good news. Hugs and support to you xxx
  15. My Grandpuppy is getting an outside bed so he can lounge in comfort in the sun and a squeeky toy. My two are getting more squeeky toys and vegetarian pigs ears!! My dogs love christmas
