  1. Did the vet listen to her heart?
  2. This is a decision i would have to make before the time came. I would want to know what they wanted to do with the body - what sort of samples etc they would be doing. I would want to know what they hoped to learn from looking at the dog. I would also insist on getting the ashes back. Once i knew what they had planned, then I would take the decision. If asked at the time of death, I would probably say no, but this is something that needs more thinking about with a clear head.
  3. To pass the time, can we suggest names for the pups? My suggestion to call one Teaser!
  4. wooden sheds get really hot in summer, so I wouldn't relie on that to provide her with shade. To stay warm in winter, a smaller house would keep the heat from her better, unless you are planning to install heating??
  5. have you given her an antihistamine tablet? that's the first thing I would be doing.
  6. The main ring of Crufts has quite a few people watching it, you can imagine how i felt when my dog got to the first corner of the ring and stopped for a poo! thankfully that time I had a poo bag in my pocket, so picked up and the ring stweard told me to 'just throw it over the boards' the ones lining the ring, so it must have looked like I was lobing it into the audience!
  7. Bear Goggles (instead of beer goggles)
  8. I'd be looking for a different home, it's not fair on the schnauzer to have to put up with living with a bully.
  9. I love red dogs, sadly my breed doesn't come in red, so my first choice is the black/silver (though I have owned all the other recognised colours). Colour is just one of the factors for choosing a particular dog, the right colour on the wrong dog is no good, but the right dog in the right colour is worth the wait!
  10. try a bucket of warm water outside and just use a sponge to soap the poop so it becomes soft enough to wash off with some shampoo
  11. I slipped on a wet section of floor at an indoor show and went flying, landing on my back. I was then laughing so much at the silly situation that the steward and judge both thought I was badly injured! It took a bit to get my composure back enough to allow the judge to help me up. All the while my young giant schnauzer is stood there staring at me being silly.

    Dog Bed

Your bed is the best option, he can see no reason to move down the ranks to sleep in a different bed. If you want him in that bed, put it on the floor and keep taking him off your bed, so he goes into it.
  13. With the puppy classes, for now I would tell them you aren't going to be practising sit in class, work on the stand until that is fixed in her mind (afterall, she already knows sit a bit to well). I will leave teaching sit until they have the show training sussed, then I bring in more of the sits to command but still mix it in with downs and stands, so sit never becomes the automatic behaviour to offer.
  14. elementary boo boo sounds like you have made a simple mistake.
  15. What do you do with her the rest of the day?
  16. So very sorry for your loss Gogo. How devasting for you.
  17. Traditionally they are left on Goldens but removed from JRTs
  18. be very careful about adding anything to the diet to change the pH, minis are prone to bladder stones if the pH is to acid or to alkaline. You say she drools, this is NOT normal for a mini, have you checked her mouth and teeth?? chewing feet can be as simple as a child sucking their thumb, some dogs just get comfort from it. Try to distract her if you see her doing this.
  19. I vote for Roselines, i have several pairs of various sizes and they stay sharp well, nice balance and a reasonable price
  20. To make that harder, you could do another X of sewing across the + I find my dogs work these things out to fast to make buying anymore worthwhile.
  21. vet bed is great, I've raised all my litters on it. Washes really well, keeps pups warm and not had the problems ellz mentioned.
  22. if it is a no fat diet, i wouldn't be using the skin or the chicken stock to cook. just keep it plain and simple. Are you sure it is no fat? My dog with liver problems is on a low protein and high fat diet atm along with a 3 week course of ABs
  23. yes at the moment they seem ok
  24. They are coming along fine, except for the little, tiny one who died early the following morning (though she still looked fine when I got up in the night to check on her)
