lol I also use mine in bed for me, keeps my back better in winter. Have you thought about making a cushioned landing area for her, so her jumping off isn't going to cause any harm?

I Was Robbed This Afternoon - Dogs Were Home!
becks replied to megan_'s topic in General Dog Discussion
What could be in the ceiling?? I might just have a suspicious mind but the OP said that when she came back (see post 33) the back door was then locked again. I would be worried they had come back and were hiding in the house, may be the ceiling??? After watching to many american cop shows, I was thinking more about hidden cameras! Going back to post 32, it is true that mini schnauzers are good watch dogs, it is said the difference between a mini and a Giant is that the mini will bark the warning and the giant will be stood behind the 'victim' with a 'go on a try it' look! -
Hi, can I ask why? If you're not a registered breeder, then why would you need to have a dog that is undesexed? What is the difference for a pound/rescue dog being desexed before it goes home with new owner (which I agree with) and the purebred pet that is purchased from a registered breeder - surely that pup should also be desexed (when old enough) as well. There are just as many purebreeds in the pounds and shelters as crossbreeds. Do you honestly believe that 'pure bred' puppies raised in puppy farms are better pets than x-breeds raised in a family environment?? The Frankston bylaw is horrendous. An extreme breach of civil liberties. If they want to minimise the number of puppies born, increase registration fees for non-desexed dogs to $1,000+. That way people who seriously wanted to keep their animals entire would have an option (albeit and expensive one) and these so-called wonderful registered breeders would be able to tax-deduct the cost of registration (as it's an expense incurred in generating income). Charge that much and you encorage people to breed just to get the money back!

a bored groomer = experiment time!! The first attempt was with Blue (the colour and the dog - seemed appropraite and she needed a bath and trim anyway) Oh no! what is going to happen here? This is going to happen! haha says Blue, that didn't really work! Well, nearly! a hint of a tint and the finished pup (may as well show her off, even if she isn't a Blue Blue!) Decide to have another go so give Riva a turn as she has recently had a bath I'm going to make you pay next time you sleep! I should have taken a photo of the bath, it looked like a scene from CSI, very much a 'blood bath'!! Anyhoo, here she is when dry and if you are wondering you should wear gloves when doing it! The colouring used was just ordinary food dye. I'm thinking next time to try mixing it in with some hair mousse

Raising A Litter Of Puppies During Winter
becks replied to Baileys mum's topic in Breeders Community
Mine stay indoors in winter with just a short 5 or 10 mins outside from about 6 weeks old to have an explore and play after a meal. I feed them in the kitchen and then shoo them out the back door for a bit. -
A Couple Of Small White Swiss Shepherd Brag
becks replied to Fanuilos's topic in General Dog Discussion
Well done! Looking forward to seeing the photos! hint hint -
I think he looks fine with that clip, my pets are also clipped summer and winter and they don't feel the cold (nor do they get put in clothes). I'd have more issues with the way the ears have been trimmed, not how i would have done them on him.

could you just use childrens coloured chalks? or would they not be soft enough?

I had a visit last week from a couple who brought along an experienced 'doggy' person to ask some of the questions that they wanted to ask. No problem with this happening. Today I had a brief email from someone looking for a pup for 'aunty', aside from saying they were in a hurry to replace her dead dog, there was nothing to make me think this would be a good home!

Heated Or Cool Groomers Dryer............................
becks replied to pesh's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
My blaster isn't heated but takes ages to get any warmth. The stand dryer has 3 heat settings, usually used on hottest but on warm days I turn the heat down. -
Guide Dogs in the UK vaccinate at 6 weeks and 10 weeks so the pups can get out earlier. 2 vaccination protocol is typical in the UK. yes, the vaccine is designed to over ride the maternal antibodies - something i asked the vet, last time I had pups vaccinated.

I have had up to 3 entire stud dogs crated together with an in season bitch in the same room and never had any aggression from any of them. Aggression is an individual thing, I have seen many more (comparitively) agrressive nuetered dogs then entires.

Would it be right to show a dog who has had corrective surgery for something that (by the sounds of it .... please refer my post above) is heritable? I wasn't suggesting that surgery be done to correct a mouth for showing, only that surgery could be an option to correct the mouth on these pups with converging canines.

Women Injured And Animals Killed In Overnight Fires (caboolture Qld)
becks replied to Boronia's topic in In The News
Fabulous news! -
I would be looking at the pups with correct mouths if you are planning to show. (otherwise you could end up having to pay for corrective surgery on the teeth). If you are planning to breed in the future, then I would be looking at other litters.

My Mini Schnauzer's Ears Keep Standing Up
becks replied to tara taylor's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
With a mini, if the ears want to go up they will go up, even with taping or glueing them into position. -
You are clipping a dirty dog, so the blades won't last long - make sure you charges include cost of sharpening and replacing the blades.

Ah yes - Serenia. Which is meant to have a very high success rate. Except that our first and so far only client to try it, still ended up with a vomiting, car sick dog Tried that with my boy, we did get to do an hour and half journey without vomit (usually done by a mile from home) but he did still drool copious amounts. Regular short journeys are starting to help him be a better traveller.

Thanks for posting this. How soon did you notice an improvement?

I'm a little confused about the dog being neglected, surely if this was the case, the owner wouldn't have the dog at the vets?

Does Desexing Really Make A Difference
becks replied to Lucy's mama's topic in General Dog Discussion
How old are your children? Are they old enough to do some training in class with your dog? -
kidney and some types of liver can be very strong tasting and not all dogs like it. Will pup eat the veg as individual chunks, so you can see if there is any part of that they don't like?
-
I'd just say you want to change vets as the new guy is closer, sounds like your current vet isn't listening to you and that is a major No for me.

What Is The Best Of The Best Premium Dry Food?
becks replied to BustaGirl's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
What are they being fed now and why do you want to change the food? There is no 'best ever' food that will suit all dogs, there is a certain amount of trial and error involved. First you need to decide what your dogs need from the food.
