  1. I wonder where the OP is finding breeders if they are all asking such a lot more to sell a pup with papers?
  2. why would you want to inspect the property of someone whos dog you may use at stud? i'm finding this an interesting thread to read when in the past there have been threads saying people would ask their worst enemy if their stud dog was available if he was the best choice for their bitch
  3. is there a link somewhere explaining what category a country is and why?
  4. on reading the OP my first thought was a young dog who was a little over stimulated by being in a busy petshop and suddenly someone comes over waving a treat at the dog, dog jumps up for treat and accidentally grabs hold of the girl instead - people who do not know much about dogs do wave treats around near to theri own face and if she was also trying to pat the dog on the head (which a lot of dogs don't like, nevermind what breed they are) could have obstructed the dogs view of the treat. i think we need to know the facts of the lead up to this event before shouting for muzzles and not taking vicious dogs out in public!
  5. I'd get her booked in with a local groomer ad they can advise you on the best way to care for her coat and trim it if necessary as well as give her a bath and check her ears as they probably need plucking and a good clean too. Also ask them which vets they recommend - groomers tend to hear who are good vets and who charges stupid money. Then get her booked into a vet asap for a thorough check over and they can tell you if she has been desexed or not and give her vaccination and wormers.
  6. It's banned in the UK and you don't see dogs being dumped because they bark
  7. Mine get chicken wings, tripe sticks, hooves etc. With mini schnauzers, it is just genetics that makes some of them get really bad teeth quickly, no matter what is fed
  8. crating, though if i eventually move, I'd like a kennel outside for the boys for daytime.
  9. Did you ask how many there are ahead of you waiting for pups? Have you been assured you will definitly get a pup from the next litter? Are you waiting for a particular colour/sex combo or just a pup? I certainly wouldn't be waiting for a breeder to produce so many litters without wanting something very specific from them.
  10. freewebs has changed so you can now have an address like www.mydomain.webs.com for free which is hardly difficult to remember! or for a small fee you can loose the ads and use your own domain - this is still a lot cheaper and more flexible then Troys templates (sorry troy!)
  11. Thanks - got to keep the riff-raff from commenting in there! I was getting a lot of spam/advertising in the guestbook so changed the settings
  12. I see no reason to applaud veterans just because they have made it to 7 years old. Veterans is just a class like any other. I'm not being 'stone' I have been showing my old girl in veteran classes for over 3 years and in that time she is the only Giant Schnauer to win a veteran group at a champ show, she also won RCC at Crufts alongside many BVIS awards at clubs and open shows. It is no different to having similar successes with a puppy or adult. By all means applaud for the wins, but there is no need to do so just because the old codger and her dog have managed to turn up!
  13. i use the cover to go to shows and the 2 i have, have lasted really well even in some very nasty weather conditions. Rain and wind proof.
  14. I agree, if she isn't willing to wait now, will she really be happy to hand her back to you for several weeks?
  15. So 3 litters have been born this year and you still don't have a puppy? I'd be asking the breeder if you will definitly get a pup from one of the litters on the ground now or asking for the deposit back as you have waited long enough.
  16. Why don't you put one together yourself? I did mine on webs.com easy to do as i am a total computer dunce! www.beanara.co.uk
  17. My dogs are in the house day and night. They go to bed when I do and get up when I do, if they need to go out for an emergency they can make a noise to wake me up.
  18. have you got him clipped on the body? I'd just use the shampoo and let it do it's job first. Otherwise, give Groomers in the UK an email to check it will still be as effective with the conditioner.
  19. galastop will dry her up so she doesn't feel uncomfortable - ask the vet for it, pricey but it works, then get her speyed as they will always have phantoms and in my experince, the dogs seem to get them worse each time.
  20. i don't think you will need the conditioner after using that shampoo, I certainly wouldn't use it on the body of the dog as you want the action of the shampoo to work best on the body - it works even better when blow drying the dog.
  21. I just find it funny, you don't have people refering to their dogs bycolour and breed anywhere near as much as lab people do, both on forums and in real life. Seems to be a worldwide phenomina too!
  22. Question!! Why do labrador owners tend to refer to their dog by colour and breed?
  23. Groomers Evening Primrose Oil shampoo is very good for flaky and dandruff skin. Not washing out shampoo would give small white flakes for a day or 2 after bathing. Dandruff, you can see the skin looks dry and flaky as you part the coat. Dilute the shampoo before use and you will find it much easier to rinse out. other things can cause dandruff, like central heating, stress and other skin problems.
  24. Also try freezing water in a sports bottle, then as it melts you can squirt some into the side of the dogs mouth or use it over the dog to cool them off before going home. As others have said, I prefer to let mine drink later when they have stopped panting. I will also stop the exercising if they are getting to hot.
  25. the different classes will be fine so long as they are o different days
