Hey PF I sent my money to you months ago via Western Union and I still have no puppy. What happened to the pup from the litter you had at the time of payment? I really expect orders done over the internet to be delivered fast!

If I splice in some German Pinscher, we might be able to pull it off Becks.... or you could simply pick a Decore colour. GPs are already in the mix, so at least it will remain pure bread! Great, I can't wait

glad to hear you can get around the silly quarenteen rules here! I'm looking forward to your exports, as you are such an ethical breeder. I have sent my deposit via your pay pal account on your website

I think you could be a puppy walker for pf and just exchange for a younger version when 6 months old and ready for breeding from. Jokes aside (but only for a moment ;) ) I think this is one of the factors that has shaped the development of some toy breeds. Large eyes (in comparison to head size) and small stature do maintain a puppy look for life in some breeds. Oi Becks.. can I interest you in a nice black Schnauzer?? Colour guaranteed not to wash out - I'll use permanent dye. Given that I have poodles and a Whippet, its probably not surprising that I find the Bedlingtons a very attractive breed. I'm not sure I'm cut out to deal with a true terrier temperament but gee there are some nice looking Beddies in the ring around here from time to time. Actually, I've always wanted a red schnauzer, think you can get me a breeding pair by xmas? doesn't matter if they are siblings!

Thornit is the age old remedy for canker in spaniels, it's been around a long time and does help. Some dogs need a tiny pinch of the powder weekly to keep the ears dry.

Some times there isn't good communication. I once got in a near full length Yorkie and the owners asked for a trim. Turns out they just wanted a yearly shave off, so I ended up having to groom the dog twice. With coats that can be ruined by cliping, I do tend to explain to the owners when they bring the pup in for the first trim. As has been mentioned already, some groomers will state they are great at grooming any breed you have (so long as it is clipped off), the best way to find a good groomer is to talk to other owners, at the vets, park etc and get a recommendation.

Congrats on getting a mini, even if she is in need of some TLC atm, do come and join us in the schnauzer thread. Plucking the ears is very important for ear health and you can also use an ear powder to help with the plucking and general ear health (not sure if you can get Thornit powder over there??) Otherwise Biogroom ear powder is a similar, weaker version. She may also have narrow ear canals, especially if this has been going on a long time, so keeping ontop of ear cleaning will help in the future. The smell is more then likely the ears, though occasionally the whole body can get an odour with yeast infections.

I have an electric table, hydrolics are to much like hard work! lol With this lab, the very best thing you can do when grooming her is to NOT give up until she is calm, then praise and let her go do what she wants. She needs to learn to be calm and letting her get wound up thinking she can play with the grooming tool is sending her the wrong message. Is she will sit still for 2 minutes, then stop before she starts to get worked up.

The only bitch who had 2 c-sections owned by my parents had the flank incision, vet said it was standard practise at the time, allowed the wound the heal easier and was out of the way of the pups

how old is your dog?

Don't worry, this will be a light season, probably won't last the full 3 weeks. All the daxies I have known have got on great together, afterall they are bred to be pack dogs.

I'd just cut off all the longer hair, no point leaving it if the parents aren't going to brush it anyway. I'd use a slicker brush and comb to work through the knots and a rake to work out the rest of the dead coat.

Yup, lots of soft bedding, see how it goes for a few days/week. Don't go for the option of having a drain put in it. My girls eventually went when it was drained and injected with a steroid.

Stumpy, I'm going to let you into a secret! Groomers do NOT have a magic wand they can wave to calm a dog who is over excitable and never been TAUGHT to stand still and behave while being groomed. Groomers 'groom' dogs, we aren't being paid to also train your dog to behave. I also own a large and active breed that is a trimmed breed. Even as pups they are taught to stand still and let me get on with my work on them.

i can't see why a wormer would become less effective? It isn't the same family of worms hoping back into the dog again I mainly use Drontal or if there is a special offer on, Milbemax.

I wouldn't bath a dog before surgery, it is going to get covered in blood anyway and need a bath afterwards (once stitches are out) but then the dogs aren't left to get in such a state that they stink or be covered in nasties anyway. I'm a groomer but answered would be embarrassed to send a dog for grooming with fleas as I would be!

I'd go see the december litter or ask the breeder for other people she would recommend with pups due soonish.

soaked puppy food kibble and a little tinned puppy meat to start off with, in a flat dish. If they are ready to eat they will dive in very quickly.

Crates always for my dogs, i think it is the safest way for them to travel

The only condition I have heard of first hand in Pulis is Retinal Dysplasia. I am not sure what the incidence of other diseases is. The veterinary opthalmologists I see always say the eyes have to be checked annually so I assume some of the progressive diseases might also be an issue. I might ask on another forum and see what answers I get and get back to you. Thanks.

What eye problems are the screened for?

wd 40 is also toxic

Very common in small breeds and much better to get them out as they encorage more tartar build up on the near teeth. Why don't you do some show training and get out there and try it? Then you can decide if it is your 'thing'

The tail can just be trimmed to a length that looks in balance with the rest of the trim. I don't like to see dogs with huge, bushy tails asyou tend to notice the tail first and then see there is a dog attached to it.
