  1. I have a couple of leads from them, the one thing i don't like is how stiff the throat piece is, it isn't as comfortable for the dog and one I have from elsewhere which uses a silk ribbon for the dogs throat which moulds to the shape much better. you can see that one at http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/pa...otos&ref=ts
  2. A friend of mine had a litter from a bitch on the season after the pyo, however she went on to have another pyo on a season after that litter and is now speyed
  3. Used twice and both litters born by C-section.
  4. I've always used the Panacur liquid at 3,5 and 8 weeks. Did hear of a few litters getting diarhoea with the drontal so that put me off trying it. Never had a problem getting the pups to take it, once you have the right technique!
  5. I've seen more problems in dogs who haven't had the ears plucked. Done correctly, plucking shouldn't cause a problem as it is done little and often, so there is air flow into the ear. There have been some heated debates on here before on just this question.
  6. I am well aware of the temperaments of the breeds, I live with Giants and miniatures as well as showing, judging and working them! Here are a few photos of a group of schnauzers who had never met before
  7. Great start everyone. I also fell off the last challenge, with a bad back I'm just not able to get out and about to take pics atm. might cherry pick a few from the list to try for this month.
  8. If the breeder does not test the rest of the litter and have the registrations corrected then the CC will demand that it is done. The rules are very clear about this now. In the case of this particular puppy that has already been tested, his papers can be corrected by the CC immediately proof of DNA testing is provided. How can they correct the papers when it is now a case of father unknown?
  9. What about a schnauzer? They require obedience training as they can be stubborn and have selective hearing when they choose. Good off lead (when trained/socialised) and full of character. 3 sizes to choose from!
  10. Teebs had a thread about this recentlyish with some photos of Atlas' feet. The thread might be worth a read.
  11. Seminars are a great idea BUT they are only as good as the person giving it, I have been to some shockers in my time where I've wondered if the speaker actually knows much about what they are talking about
  12. I think it shows a lack of imagination to use a name from the country of origen for the breed. Their are to many called Otto or Oscar in my breed for example.
  13. You probably will find it difficult to buy them in Aus, as they don't seem to have the benched champ shows like we do in the UK (except for the Royal shows??), so if you want a benching chain and your friend can't remember where they got theirs from, then you might be better off to get one from the UK. All links are welded, so dogs can't get free from the chain breaking and the large O rings allow you to wrap the chain around an anchor point.
  14. If you are worried about her sight, best to go straight to an eye specialist vet and have them check her over.
  15. If this was done in a different way to how he had judged other classes that day, then I would have spoken up in the class to ask if he wanted to go over the dog before placing. If it was the style on the day, I would just have a quiet word with the show secretary that I wouldn't be entering under such a judge ever again.
  16. My best prize is just a piece of white an green cardboard for winning the RCC at Crufts with my 10 year old bitch. One of the breed clubs also gives crystal trophies at anniversary shows, we were lucky enough to get BVIS the last time. The worst of the best is kind of funny, it is a rectangular plate with a few breeds around the edge and details of the BIS win in the centre. When I got to the show in the morning, I saw this being displayed and thought what a tacky prize the poor winner is going to get - we won it! lol
  17. Sounds like fun! Good luck everyone. We are not yet up to competition level but it was great to get back to class this week after the long xmas break
  18. it really depends on your dogs, I have mini and giant schnauzers, my minis can eat reasonably large kibble for them, so I've fed the medium RC if I only wanted the one bag of food. If you have a large dog who just swallows the food, then the small kibble may cause him to choke, equally if the foxie isn't much of a chewer, he will struggle with larger kibble sizes. What size is the kibble you feed now?
  19. I've posted the link in my status, to get the word out. So great to see Leo's Story being refreshed in the minds of everyone old and new
  20. You will learn so much more by having a lesson or two (I do this as part of my business, to those who think they are losing business by doing this, you don't! these owners will have a go at doing there dogs anyway, so you may as well help them to achieve a better result. I still get some people come back who have had a lesson but want me to fix up the lines after a few home grooms) having someone to teach you will also pick up any bad habits you may have or any safety issues. i was watching a you tube video the other day of someone grooming a dog, at the end they got the dog all excited and jumping up at them while the dog was still on the table - the groomer still had scissors in their hands!!! An accident waiting to happen.
  21. I'm doing it again for the 3rd time (well, this time there are 3 weeks difference in age). for me this depends on the individual family and their commitment, and experience with dogs in the past and the breed. while I wouldn't sell siblings I have sold pups of a few months difference to the same family (miniature schnazuers) but I wouldn't even think about homing 2 Giant Schnauzers to the same home at the same time.
  22. paperwork + couple of toys towel that smells of litter food brush and comb + demo at collection on how they should be used treats
  23. With my last litter, the litter sister of mum did the night shift while mum came to sleep on my bed like normal!
  24. Hope you get some improvement soon, Teebs And I would also like to thank you for totally putting me off Doritos/corn chips!
