  1. Another who can not post in the Breeders' Forum, I too would like to say how courageous you were from the moment Reba was bitten, how hard you fought for her and her puppies. Life is cruel. Now there are two little ones at The Rainbow Bridge who were lucky to have had a small chance. A hard choice you made for the best interests of these little ones must be acknowledged. Took courage and you have that aplenty. Much love to you, to Reba, to the living puppies & a wee prayer for the sweet gals.
  2. Just imagine someone seeing Mac out in his chariot may rethink looking after their own cherished (but aging) dog. This could save a wee dog from being abandoned. Win win
  3. Wise advice. I had a mountaineer puppy some years back. Could scale anything & did. LOL. :)
  4. Fancy finding this thread on the birthday of this beautiful boy. Happy Birthday, Sumo You are a stunner!
  5. Nothing really :) His Momma being at ease with the situation too is important.
  6. A close friend of mine shared exactly this with me. Cry at first, then allow the smiles and laughter to come back to replace the pain of loss. Such words of comfort, leec.
  7. They sure know how to fleece you That's what I call corporate grooming. Another slug for dog owners
  8. Indeed, and smart as tacks... Thought the crowd a little subdued but the dogs were not.
  9. They were stunning too! Loved that part of Crufts. Not enough of Vizslas for my likings. But the alternatives were all bonny to look at & dream of handling. :D
  10. Good news for you both. Sounds like a caring Vet which is part of what is needed when our dogs are ill. That and your love should go a long way to keeping the wee man happy. I wish you both lots of love for the future.
  11. Bit confused. Are you not considering the dog's company at night? My new puppy of 16 weeks has 'his' special place under my computer desk. Please correct me if I am misunderstanding. Puppy will be with you more than I am reading? ETA: had not read all the thread...... joys of using mobile internet.
  12. Truly takes courage and a big heart to make the choice. Darcy and Lucy must have only known love with you, Bindo. I close my eyes and see them racing at this time of the afternoon chasing kangaroos as the sunset..... a wonderful way to end a day. LOVE
  13. What scares me most is the advice given at the surgery to 'do the dosing' without the testing. Takes consumer confidence to discuss with the professional other options.
  14. Not sure you ever prepare as such. But I made a promise that neither of the older boys would suffer, or be in discomfort or kept going for my sake. My heart boy left me last August. That day I took him to the Vet I had no inkling of the outcome. Not ready ever but my heart says I honoured my promises. You will have the strength too. Much love to you Madwoofter and the beautiful Tess.
  15. The boy weighs 14.7 kilos. Would he be too boisterous for this little lady? He 'needs' an active playmate. For sure, Neko is a heart stealer.
  16. Just what I wanted confirmed. Thanks Erny. We were given the option of malaseb or another straight chemical cleanser. Luckily my debit card failed to work.
  17. Her litter sparked my interest in 'mobility'. I recall a photo of a puppy with a vest being taught to learn balance etc. That's what is interesting me. (as well as looking at beautiful Malinois. Puppy is asleep so he does not know I am being unfaithful.)
  18. Vizsla puppy that won at Crufts yesterday has been trained like this. I was lucky enough to be sent videos 3 months apart. My untrained eye could see the differences in movement with the dog. Been enjoying your site with all this info.
  19. I have had no personal experience with ticks. Simple reason never lived in a tick area with dogs. However, there are articles via google that suggests there may be some use. It is a mechincal use for breaking down skeletons of the fleas so may work too. I would check with your Vet. :)
  20. You can purchase a domestic grade product. That is what you must be careful of getting rather than the type used in swimming pools. The point of the grade selection is it is safer for humans. We have used this in Australia & Louisiana. Firstly we sprinkled the outside lawn with a ligh covering. Then the bedding of the dogs was sprinkled too. Bedding was left outside for the day for the fleas to 'feast'. Beds then washed overnight. In the past 11 years we have had to resort to flea medication only once for the older dogs. I am a convert.
  21. This was the company that brought a Black Russian Terrier from Austria a few years ago. No stone was left unturned to ensure this bitch had a smooth flight. Based on prior experience they even predicted a change of flight schedules & so had plans changed. They have also handled numerous Vizslak flights in and out of Australia with great expertise. One new human Momma got to be on the same plane Trans-Tasman.
  22. Brilliant! Thank you. Poor darling at least has a chance of TLC before whelping. LIfe is cruel at times. PM'd you too
