Using Human Antihistamines On DogsVizslaMomma replied to Leema's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming NSW based so no info there. No doubt persphone will pop into the thread with info. Carefully monitored and with the correct dosage the human tablets should be very useful. Good Luck for you & the scratchy baby.

Using Human Antihistamines On DogsVizslaMomma replied to Leema's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming I have with the Vet's OK, given the Hungarian Vizslas polarmine. We could ascertain they reacted badly to being stung by bees & wasps. Developed severe hives & swollen faces every time. Yes, there was one dog that had other allergies. I was successful with islating the cause & treating accordingly. I will leave that for another topic, however. Cost wise the human antihistamine is much less, For us, effective too. :)

TV Channel I watched had outlines of dobermans with cropped ears. Can not even give an accurate descpription. Given cropped ears in Dobes are rare in this country, I would think any would be known to people,

One of the better status symbols! :D

	Is the dog OK?

Yep, agree with cavNrott. A Cavalier King Charles Spaniel would fit the bill for me. Do careful research for health issues and check the breeder carefully. Our family Matriarch got one to celebrate her 80th birthday. Was a great mutual love affair. Walking Sarah opened up a whole new set of people who thought she was an adorable gal who became friends with them both.

Simply beautiful, cavNrott. Should be a mantra for anyone with an older dog.

Hugs to you BOTH ( regardless that you are boys). It's a part of loving a dog to be faced with the twilight time of their life. Mine is 15 next birthday. TBF, I'm sat here right now at 03:05AM AEST, because my dear old boy did some decorating in the laundry......everywhere. PTL he has a short coat. Took no time to clean him up & the laundry. Have spare beds aplenty. He gets a big promo tonight & can sleep in my room. I digress, sorry..... Pain is my yardstick for making that decision. Let me say with every fibre of my body I hope it is different. He's getting checked by the Vet more frequently. Pain is not a visitor. Tonight things are day to day. That tail wags, he eats like no tomorrow. And you know something? He still makes me smile. I will keep guard over him until time says different. Take care of yourself too. Remember you do him honour to love him still.

Effective Control Of Puppy Being WalkedVizslaMomma replied to VizslaMomma's topic in General Dog Discussion Can't tell you what a relief it is to get the info on chains. My dream is for Herbie to be a Theraphy Dog. I want to give him as much of a chance he can get to be a Good Canine Citizen. (even without that piece of paper too). Both parents need the guidance to get him there. When we decided to have another dog after Gabor went to the Rainbow Bridge, we selected a puppy with that in mind. Without being morbid, we know our other old boy may not be around much longer. We will look then to having a rescue dog join the family. So there's several considerations with making sure Herbie is trained correctly.

Effective Control Of Puppy Being WalkedVizslaMomma replied to VizslaMomma's topic in General Dog Discussion Thanks, persephone Appreciate the response. None of my older dogs ever have had problems with check chains. He will use one for showing. 'Dad' is fine with these chains as well. Actually, the image I have for the not to distant future is that of Huski's avatar................ the dog close by & happy to be there. Reckon that is something good to aim to achieve. :D

Oh dear! Do they practise this look? The Horror aka Herbie is giving me a very similar look. His is because he feels the lounge chair is all his own. Situation easily solved. Sending him outside with a lovely bone.

http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/256315-reacting-when-she-sees-other-dogs/ Just read the above thread. Decided to ask for guidance. Quick background: New puppy, nearly 5 months old male Hungarian Vizsla. Been over 10 years since we had a puppy in the home. TBF, I am only used to check chains. I fully understand matters have changed and do not want hassles with the puppy simply because 'I' am using old methods. The issue is he's a strong little critter, and going to be a bluidy big boy. Should I consider a harness? I can (just) manage him around the grounds. But I want to go further afield. I'm recovering from total knee replacement for both legs & now have a strained shoulder. His father is a tad slack with walking. Ya'll know the energy youngsters have. I want to be as proactive in getting him relaxed to walk. Would a harness or halti work better? We will be doing more lessons soon as well. One good thing, I have actually lost 7 kilos since he joined us. No complaints there. :D
