  1. Hugs for Tag and Danny, it must be very frightening for them
  2. they look great! did you get them made specially? You will have to be hard on the doggies now and refuse to get out of bed to lift them back up no matter how much they complain!
  3. Yep because dogs aren't stock and you can be charged for cruelty. I think it is possible that different types of electric fencing are considered ok, such as the ping string, but not entirely sure. And even if you have stock you can't put the dog in the paddock with the electric fencing, ask DOLer Steve about that, apparently she couldn't use electric fencing to keep a ram in because she has maremmas that live in the paddock with the stock. That's crazy. What was the rationale behind it? Is it because your dogs weren't classed as stock, and you're only allowed to use electric tape for stock not pets? Or was it because you were in a suburban not rural zone, and you're not allowed to use electric tape in suburbia? (You know the solution to the first one, get a couple of chickens or a pet lamb & claim that the fence is for them! )
  4. Before you use electric fencing please do check your state laws. I live in NSW and had an electric wire around the top of my fence and was threatened with prosecution by the local RSPCA inspector unless I took it down. Apparently I was lucky they actually warned me, they have been known to come in and prosecute without warning.
  5. Oh so sorry to hear this news RIP Keiron, and hugs to your family.
  6. So sorry to hear about poor Penny's (and yours) ordeal. hope she is feeling much better soon.
  7. sweettooth you really need to get the dogs desexed before rehoming. Otherwise they may be picked up by puppy farmers - who will lie and do anything to get an entire purebred dog to breed from
  8. What a beautiful girl. Very sorry for your loss
  9. sorry I have just been slack about replying, that is a lovely offer Sue when do you think you would be available?
  10. I was wondering if any kind person could spare some of their time to help out with my rescue dogs. I have three foster dogs, two of whom have been here long-term, Hugo the longest, since October last year. I am not the best photographer, and I think that if we could get some better photos and re-write their descriptions they might have a better chance of getting homes. All three are great dogs, and I guess I haven't been in a huge hurry to place them, however they really do need to find their forever homes eventually. If anyone would be able to help out by taking some better photos, I am in Goulburn but could travel to canberra or the southern highlands if a suitable place to take the photos could be found. here are the links to their PetRescue listings Crystal http://www.petrescue.com.au/view/76598 Hugo http://www.petrescue.com.au/view/57006 Steve http://www.petrescue.com.au/view/72790 (cross-posted from General Rescue Discussion)
  11. do not underestimate what they are, very fast sight hounds driven by prey drive, who also happen to be very laid back, calm and loving. I have show bred greyhounds with no race blood in them, 2 out of the 3, are very keen and would certainly hunt if given the chance, yet they all live with my 3 cats. Mine are race bred, one raced fairly successfully, the other doesn't appear to have raced. Both are laid back, calm and loving, both are great with other dogs of all ages, shapes and sizes. But I would not trust either of them with a cat. Generally they are wonderful to walk, could walk them with a piece of cotton for a lead however a few months ago we were out walking just as it was getting dark, and a cat darted out from under a bush and ran straight under their noses. They both reacted by lunging after the cat, I yelled as soon as I saw it, surprisingly Clyde (the older boy who was a good racer) checked, but Ryan, the younger one who has an extremely sweet and soft nature, was the one who hit the end of the lead at full pace.
  12. Mine think every visitor is a new friend who just can't wait to give them pats and cuddles
  13. So sorry to hear of your loss kendall. Run free at the bridge Diesel.
