  1. That is really interesting Goldchow .......what are the other breeds that you wouldn't run with a chow ? I have just had a dog social male surrendered to us for rehoming .......would like your suggestions as to which breeds he would best be suited to go with please
  2. It is very sad but sounds a bit fishy to me ........if he found her out the front of the house when he returned from work ......surely the neighbours would have heard her screaming if the dog attacked her
  3. We have some gorgeous purebred border collies in our rescue at the moment that aren't too full on
  4. My GSD Lola was stung by a bee and her whole face swelled so much that she looked more like a Shar Pei and was running around banging her head off the walls Of course it had to be a Sunday so visit to the emergency vets .....that was a very expensive little bee ;)
  5. We have carers in Albany , Denmark etc and even fly pups down from places like Newman ......where there is a will there's usually a way
  6. Or they could have picked up the phone and driven them to one of our carers Is this recently or would they be gone now OSO
  7. Yep ......she has been puppy peddling for years apparently .....selling dogs from her car meeting people in car parks etc . Today Tonight did a segment on her but she is still going
  8. I wonder if anyone has reported her to centrelink or the tax office for undeclared income . Think there are also laws about running that type of " business " from a residential address without a licence That would probably hit her harder .
  9. Lmao ......only you could think of that ......love it
  10. I fully agree with you Nekhbet ..........and from a rescuers point of view the rotti pups we get coming through are a lot less trouble than the majority of labs and goldens .........they don't seem to be as inclined to chew the kids toys and shoes or try to steal the food from their mouths ;)
  11. I had not long moved to WA from England and was googling dog stuff as I already had my GSD pup on order from a breeder. I read quite alot before signing up and then put my hand up to foster a dog for a local greyhound rescue that was posted in the rescue forum . After fostering for that group for sometime two other carers and myself started up our current all breeds/animals rescue of which I am president .........well that has now become bigger than Ben Hur ...to the point we have such a high yearly turnover that we have had to register for GST ..........Thanks DOL :D
  12. I see the news article says they are border collie x ..........I see more staffy/bull breed myself . Unfortunately dumping of pups/dogs etc is a daily occurance Australia wide ........ we just got 2 in that were dumped in the middle of a huge pine plantation ....... the lucky ones get found
  13. Not sure how they think that will work in WA .......it isn't law to have animals microchipped here ;)
  14. Maybe give her to someone on small acreage or can send her over to me :D Can we see a pic of your mini Maremma Steve
  15. Sorry about your sheep CAS ........just a thought ......it may be worth checking that any of the tradies involved in your new build aren't bringing their dog to work with them .
  16. Clarkson to Connolly is a fair distance ........they would need to contact Wanneroo Rangers aswell as Joondalup Rangers as those suburbs come under 2 different councils ........will keep an ear open .
  17. We had a labrador pup surrendered to us at 9 weeks old due to seizures and his young owner could not afford numerous vet visits and a lifetime of meds Has the pup been treated with a spot on flea treatment or similar recently ? ETA ...has she contacted the pups breeder ?
  18. The report I read said the child was a 1 year old and it was a bucket of water that had been put out for the dogs :D
  19. Try Ocean Keys vet in Clarkson .......it is closer to you ........you may even get a hug from the vet
  20. Our rescue group is taking out a ute load of cat and dog biscuit to the Armadale evacuation centre which has apparently allowed people to take pets in with them ....... lucky we just got in a big donation of food
  21. Funny thing is .....he is 99 % of the time such a lovely , calm placid boy ......not at all interested in squeaky toys , chasing balls etc . Loves our own cats and never chases them , great with the kids and generally big lazy doofus that doesn't even like alot of exercise . He is a 6 year old wolfhound x greyhound x and a big mummies boy who is reasonably well trained already . However , when he goes into the zone .....it's like he doesn't even know you are there and will redirect the aggression onto anyone who tries to grab him if they aim for the bitey end . The only thing I can link to the start of this behaviour ( apart from his instincts kicking in once he reached maturity ) is I had just had a baby and a couple of lads were breaking into our house .......I let the dogs out and the GSD stayed by me barking and Buddy took off after them and got a kicking in the process but he just went back at the guy even harder . One of his triggers is young males smelling of alchohol wearing white trainers that run or get loud around him
  22. I believe one of my dogs has this and agree it isn't so much a drift as instant snap ! He does have certain triggers which I watch him like a hawk for and if I'm not able to be right on top of him then in certain situations the dogs are put away in my bedroom or study ! Like GM said ......just because a dog seems calm and is wagging his tail doesn't mean all is ok .....I get literally a second to notice the look in his eye and his body seems to stiffen right before an attack , no sound .....and he will and has killed small mice , rabbits , guinea pigs etc . I just have to manage him very carefully as I don't think there is a cure/fix as such .........he only started to display this behaviour around 2 years of age ......up until then he was absolutely perfect with all foster animals , kitttens , cats , small dogs , rabbits etc .
  23. Does this mean he was bitten on the butt?? Sorry, not funny for the boy, his parents, the dog and it's owners but this was just such an odd turn of phrase WHEN will people learn not to jeopardise their dogs in this way. Hasn't it been filthy hot in Perth lately - too hot for dogs to be tied up outside shops anyway? Poor boy, poor dog. :D Yes , temps have been hitting 40 degrees here .......they shouldn't have even had the dog out in this heat let alone tied up outside a shopping centre
  24. I am dead set on getting a show dog So that's usually a young pup because not may other kids of dogs fit the bill I hope your Irish Water Spaniel finds a home, they are a handsome breed. She has papers but has already been speyed.......sorry hadn't read all the thread
  25. Hi Rally Valley , are you dead set on getting a young pup , we have a female Irish Water Spaniel for adoption atm ........3 years old so can start on dog sports immediately
