  1. Just my 2cents....but I personally [hate the expression "designer dog". Unfortunately i think some people want the dog because of the stupid made up breed names that they get given!!!!!..... What happened to the good old days of cross breed small, cross breed med & cross breed large. I have just spent a small fortune completing the required testing for genetic problems on my male Std Poodle..... Show me someone intentionally breeding mutts/crossbreeds doing the same.
  2. Do you have any trouble getting them to eat it mixed in the food? I have one only eats dry food, she could be a problem I don't mix meds with food....I put the tabs down their throat!
  3. I am a vet nurse & I have been using it on my cats at the recommedation a vet I work with. She was advised that it is soon to be released for use on cats.
  4. He is a baby poodle.....behaving exactly as a poodle does!!!! ;) Come and join us at the poodle thread & chill-out :D .....and get the crate a few others have mentioned on many previous occasions!

  6. Great thread!!!.....I am looking for names for my litter as well... Mum is Poppy Go Lightly & Dad is Reetano Sugar Downunder (imp uk)....so I too am looking for a sweet theme! Love.....eye candy, bliss bomb(for a white std!)...sugar art!!
  7. Agree... it does depend on the breed. I have just taken on a 16mth old Std Poodle, who has been used at stud with my bitch (and produced some gorgeous babies ;) ) My problem was I already had a 4 year Std Poodle boy that had been residing here since a pup. I was worried....to say the least! I introduced them on neutral territory...I think I was more worried than them. They are the best playmates & rough house & play in the yard all day. There are no sqabbles when I go out there to play. I couldn't be happier. But I no the consequences when things go "pear-shaped" It only takes one incident to upset the applecart. I may still be in the "honeymoon" period....and to be sensible I will have my original boy castrated as the young dog is to be used at stud.
  8. Thanks so much for all your replies. I to hate dealing with the "people part" I hate the assumption that people seem to think "you have a puppy to sell they have the money...its theirs to have! " I realise its not that blunt, but thats how it feels. I do explain to them that there is no puppy picking until 6-8weeks when I have chosen my pup. People just don't seem to listen! They just don't have to be soooo rude! You are right Christina plenty of "oodles" have been made with dogs on the limited register. Thanks again
  9. My first time posting in here.....I have just whelped my first litter under my own prefix for 15years. Does anybody else email questionires for prospective owners & request that they are completed & returned. I have just been hammered over the phone by somebody that first contacted me 4wks ago. He requested a dog & I told him that they were not avail. for breeding etc etc.... Today he tells me " You don't anyone to breed with your line except for you, what is wrong with me" Tells me " My questiionaire is juvenile and the questions are too personal eg. Its done of my business if they have children or if they have owned a dog before" My rant is over....but I feel terrible
  10. Please tell me these Std Poodles don't live in Tassie pm me!
  11. Small world......I bumped into Rob today & I haven't seen him for 10years at least! He is a great guy & good at what he does. Go with Rob
  12. My first Std Poodle's pet name with Elle. So I choose Poodelle in her memory.
  13. You're in luck ...I have an old size 1 & 2 send me a PM with your address. If they don't fit the boxerx you can use them on someone else :D
  14. I have heaps lying around.....will have a look.
  15. Great kit ready set go....yours & mine are very similar. I don't have a bucket though. I always have spare leads, a torch as well.....sometimes an emergency happens at night! A bottle of water is handy as well. There's usually one rolling around in the car!
  16. Same as other replies here. I have showdogs crated and other not. Then vice versa. Its all good...we love crates here :D
  17. What surgery? castration? He may have an irritation from the clipping. Cortisone cream on the area is helpful. But sometimes an e-collar is the only way to go if he starts chewing.....its a lot cheaper than have the sutures put but in after they chew them out. Good luck
  18. Too much personal experience here... ....bugger,,,3 bitches... 3 pyo's. And I am a VN!!! what do you need to know??
  19. Ahhh cat poo's my poodles favourite treat I have always thought, if we could invent dehydrated cat poo's.....what are great training treat My husband just called them biological warfare!!!
  20. The food colouring does eventually wash out or fade away! It doesn't rub of on furniture of carpets etc The bright pink fades after a about a week. Then she looked a grubby pink It lasted longest in the ears! Becks is right, it takes best on Poodles & bichons as the coat is like wool. I think you will find it difficult to dye regular dog hair? My next project is to dye Poppy with purple & pink Dyex on her ear & tail only!!.....whenI have nothing eles to do ;)
  21. This is my white poodle the day after I used food colouring in her. One bottle of "Rose" to 2L of water. Don't rub dry with a towel too much & gentle hair dryer.
  22. I have the same......thats why my poodles are inside at night
  23. ACP reduces blood pressure.....not want you want in an old dog. Can slso dull the respiratory system...again not for an old dog.
