  1. That would be good! I am at EP 12th Feb. Romeo makes me laugh when I nearly trip over him on the move  ....not! he is a naughty Std poodle puppy. Am going to try & get to Castle Hill on Weds night for their classes. I need to scrub up on my handling before the Royal!
  2. OMG yes thats me & my lunatic puppy - Romeo. I completely forgot about coming to find you!! sorry. I had my hands full with the 2 babies. Will have to do that next time. I am at Erskine Park in Feb, than at the Cessnock Show :D Nice pic :)
  3. Will have to check you out!....I am the one with the 2 crazy Std babies
  4. I wouldn't put up a sign.....but my number plate is a bit of a give away
  5. I love it too......but the bit where they catch the seagulls is a bit too nauseatingly too good to be true My poodles would just keep running & chasing them!!
  6. To keep the area clean should I just use water? I was in a bit of a haze that I didn't ask the vet and they didn't mention anything about it. --Lhok Good old warm tap water is fine. If you want to make up saline you can use that. But I just grab a handful of swabs or cotton wool & bathe with plain warm water (am slack - can't be bothered making up solution  ).....If anyone in your family uses contact lenses.....its the same sort of solution to flush wounds. You can also buy small amps of saline in chemist....if you want to. But it is already a dirty area so water is fine. If there is any discharge oozing or crusty or soggy scabs forming, wash/bathe them away a few times a day. Don't be too precious about dabbing at the sutures, you can be quite firm with cleaning......thats the idea to keep it clean. Lots of treats for your patient :D Good luck.
  7. Good news....although some of those sutures may still burst, or start oozing. Keep clean....esp in what looks like a skin fold?
  8. Smell is not good. You need to get that looked at. Needs antibiotics.
  9. I am surprised you would say that - I thought it was common practice to give anti-inflammatories after any surgeries these days? I know my dog got them after a dental with extractions. Not seen anti-inflammatories used!, but anti-biotics - yes. But even if its a routine spey there should be no need for AB"S
  10. As Perse said....keep her confined & nooo jumping. She will probably be sleepy or quiet today depending on the type of anaes. used. It is not usual to give anti-inflammatories after speying? She may have a coughing sound from the tube in her throat. She may not want eat today. Watch for any licking or chewing of the wound. But on the flip side she could be her completely normal, staffy self!! Did I mention confining & no jumping! :D
  11. Just caught up on your thread Clyde.....how stressful!! You probably want to strangle him now  Where were you headed for you hols? Is Alvin crate trained?
  12. I use it on all my lot without any probs, also use it on the cats as well.
  13. Very cute Kirty......had a look hoping to see the std poo pup! ;)
  14. I would steer clear of peroxide. Bites can take a long time to heal, new skin can take a while to feel normal again. I have a huge lump of scar tissue on my left thigh from a bite 20yrs ago. It is lumpy & can be sensitive or feel "yuccky" if I lean on it. Its not the puncturing of the teeth that hurts as much......its the crushing power in the dogs jaws that causes the most tramua, speaking from my own exp.
  15. Noooo std poo's in the shower ....but cats....yes! they are such sticky beaks! I have an awesome set up in my second bathroom downstairs. My hubby has cut about 10cm's off each end of a plastic outdoor table & same off the legs. It slots straight into the shower recess & I have a hand held shower thingy. Now I just lift the std poo's straight from the grooming table to the shower table & back again. Its great a back sver.....no leaning over the 5 dogs for hours. Of which 2 & half are in show coat
  16. Yikes!! I always wondered about the time restriction thing. My Stds would take to long....just to even get them wet enough ;) I always tell them..."its like trying to wet a duck " I just have to pay extra water bill at home.
  17. I have received my numbers for sat but not for Sun.....anyone else???
  18. Gussy the show on the Central Coast is 2 seperate shows sat & sun.
  19. Gussy where abouts are you in NSW. Check out some shows in your area on the weekend. For example....there are 2 shows this weekend at Morriset on the Central Coast. Then you can see whats involved. You will be in the Non-Sporting Group or Grp 7. I am also in non sporting with Std Poodles. I will be at Morriset on weekend. I will be the one with 2 "feral" baby puppies Std poodles(6 mths old ). I am always happy for a chat
  20. This should be a good thread to sit back and watch.... ;)
  21. My Std Poo's sound extremely ferocious....I have had many a delivery man or bible basher leap back from the front door by metres But the dogs would lick you to death & jump all over you as is you have come to play and vivit them :D I have lost my old girl this year that would put a hole in an intruder if they came in her yard!
  22. If you have any nappy rash ointment you could use. If you have any cream/ointment with cortisone in it that will fix it up quickly!
  23. Humping is actually a normal canine behaviour its just that humans find unacceptable! You can't stop the behaviour. You can distrupt it there & then or interupt it, but you will never stop it, the dog will just learn to do the behaviour when you are around or present....thats wants happens when you ADD a punishment.
  24. Happens all the time at my place Girls hump girls....girl humps boy....and boy humps boys... At the moment am avoiding the real thing....boy humping girl...not allowed this time ;) All clients in my puppy classes freak out when their puppy is the "class humper" Excitement, feels good!! and get in your place ...Doesn't cause any probs here, I just ignore!
