  1. Was playing with my bouncing 2yr old male Std poodle and I lent over & pointed from him to drop....well he thought I was still playing....and BAMB....bounced up & smashed me in the nose. I saw stars....black ones  Nose bled all over the place, it felt the size of a clowns nose  I then felt sick & wanted to lie/fall down. Taught me a lesson, never lean over when directing into a drop....and wow he is a strong silly boy :D
  2. Showdog.... What is a show pong?!...lol ....show pony.....=std poodle!!! Lol
  3. What wonderful news. You are very lucky.
  4. Does the colour run when its gets bathed out after set....ie will it bleed into the part left white? Will def do for the funday.
  5. Arcane....what an awesome job The Poodle Club of NSW is having a Funday on October 14th.....and it was suggested to me that I might bring my Pink Std Poodle. But your job looks much cuter!! What did you use? Did it take long? Some of you need to get a grip!! I should post some of my show poodles on show day......they love it!! As for the grooming at home.....they go to sleep on the table whilst I am brushing them....most other poodle would say the same!!
  6. I have 5 std poodles and at the moment a litter of pups. I would prefer 3 but when you show dogs unfortunately that number creeps up. Others tell me put the dogs that aren't being shown in a pet home. They dont understand....they are in a pet home! So no more for us for a while.
  7. My Std poo's loooooove being groomed. They prance around afterwards.... "Look at me...Look at me"
  8. Awesome!!! Not a Bedlington!! its a Std Poodle
  9. Looks like a paralysis tick to me. If your dog is showing any signs of poisoning....wobbly, panting, looks like is trying to vomit you will need to go to the vets for treatment with anti tick serum. If your dog is OK, keep it very quiet with no excitement. No walks or play. Dog & cats can still exhibit signs 24-48hrs after tick removal. Good luck.
  10. Have you spoken to Roslyn Thomas, I think she has organised Nepean Shores......I was thinking of staying at there for the National. Having just done an 1 hr each way for 3 days......staying there would be great!....or camping at Erskine Park either
  11. Know the feeling Ellz....I have my boy entered in spring fair next weekend but I am stressing about taking him or not. He is only 5weeks into continental cut and am worried he will not have enough to be a competitive..... He has lovely movement but....I am owner, handler, trimmer but not a hairdresser!!!
  12. Janice was very sad. Especially that poor old dog who dragged its back legs around. Agreed with you on JD......but I just thank god my husband wasn't watching  .....as he would have related to everything that JD's partner said I almost had to turn it off.
  13. Given a judge spends a minute or two with each dog at best, how is temperament assessed. How do you assess 'disciplined gameness' in a kerry blue terrier or in the case of a wheaten terrier if the dog is 'good-tempered, spirited and game, full of confidence and humour, a delightful, affectionate and intelligent companion' in a minute or two? I've never seen a wheaten in a ring do the 'wheaten greetin' at a judge. I suggest that the show ring cannot assess temperament. I think it can assess alertness, hence toys being thrown around a ring to see if a dog looks at it immediately, but affection or gameness? It would be interesting to hear from some judges on this. you could weed out some of the dogs, the ones the judges can't get their hands on, the ones that pee themselves at the approach of the judge. Yes,....or those that try & snap or lunge their head around quickly when touched
  14. Totally agree with capanash. As a showie who breeds very little I feel that unfortunately in the ring temperament is not valued in the ring as much as "good looks" If judges put more.value on temperament then perhaps it would weed out those exhibits with dodgy temperaments.
  15. Mine definitely have the coat  .....as long as its ok for Std Poodle, Std Poodle, Std Poodle etc  They all have different "hair-do's" though!!
  16. That is an old wives tale! They don't build up immunity. But if they need to have ATS more than once in a season the dog/cat can have a nasty reaction to the second dose. Great news your baby is doing better
  17. I have used them for years on my Std Poo's and love them
  18. If he is on oxygen he will not be able to go home....they need that oxygen as it is such an effort just to breathe & that is something that can not be provided at home. It is the fluid buildup & lung secretions that cause the problems, poor dogs & cats are unable to move them. If they have removed the ventilation tube & put him on nasal oxygen that is a good sign. Good Luck :) This is the worst time of year for ticks, traditionally the beginning of the season, when they are most potent.
  19. Thats exactly what I would be asking for. Would have assumed would have already been on that.
  20. I sprayed the "living daylights" out of the carpet & seats in my car with insect spray last year!!....it worked a treat
  21. As long as you have clipped the hair short & scrubbed it cleaned with the chlorhex it should clear up in a few days if it is not a bad one. I would keep using the chlorhex. I don't rinse that off.....I get a bit blob of wet cotton wool with a blob of chlorhex and rub at the red spot, then don't rinse this off. If you have some human cortisone cream you could put some of that on. If it doesn't heal you will need some AB's
  22. I hate the tail issue. If my boy had a docked tail my boy would look great......but the tail is long and curls over his back........
  23. I struggled for a while after my first was born ( now 13!)...prior to that my poodles were my world. They def took a back seat for a while, I didn't show them and clipped them all down...my attention was completely focused on the baby and I didn't do much with the dogs....sometimes they were just another "thing" that demanded attention. I can understand yor wife. Things did eventually change for me.....But I did have to find a new way of juggling everything.
  24. I got my 3x3 from Bunnings for $120. It is not as compact as Oz trail....but I like the saving!
