I've very sorry about your puppy I recently went through a similar situation but with a different condition. I found out that my young border collie has multiple liver shunts. I was looking at a $5-6000 operation to fix it but unfortunately it isn't operable and I can only treat her medically. It cost me $1500 to get the diagnosis and is costing around $100 for her food and medicine. I don't know how long she will live for. I was devastated. When I told the breeder she was sick with a liver problem, they just said that no other dogs in their lines had a problem. When I told them her diagnosis they didn't even reply. So I think your breeder has been pretty good. Hopefully they get the pups they kept checked out prior to breeding. The op for Amber didn't have very good odds even if I could have got it done but it sounds like your girl has a good chance.

Mine just really don't play with other dogs. They are such snobs. Even when we go out with friend's dogs they spend the walk stalking the dog rather than actively playing with them. Amber occasionally plays, Poppy has no clue. A goldie tried really hard to get them to play this week and they didn't want a bar of the poor dog. They wrestle with each other when they play together. Poppy usually lays on her back and Amber jumps all over her. Lots of bitey and growly stuff.

How Much Time Does Your Dog/s Spend On Thier Own?JulesP replied to Pretty Miss Emma's topic in General Dog Discussion Gorgeous pic!

I got the Grain free Salmon for Amber. She refused to touch it. I fed it to the other 2 dogs and by the end of one small bag they were both itching a lot and had pink muzzles. I hadn't had heaps of allergy problems with either dog prior to that. They had scratched a bit on Uncle Albers but had been fine on all other premium and super premium foods.

She was also squealing so loudly that I doubt she would have heard me. You have to hear this squeal to believe it. Amazing noise.

Of course that's ideal, but I believe JulesP has border collies (?) which are bred to make very quick, independent decisions. And once they make that decision they can be gone before you know which way you're facing! And often you don't know that something is an issue that needs training until it has happened. It's unfortunate that the people got a damp blanket but I bet Jules does a check for picnicers now :p I hope so, because if Jules does indeed own Border Collies, they are a very intelligent breed, and really, it goes both ways. If her dog does what it does, then one can hardly be angry with someone whose dog comes running at full pace at another dog, without any mean intentions and that dog is called rude. That's all I was attempting to point out. It's 'funny' in this instance, and rude in others. As for the picnickers they probably shouldn't have been where they and probably unaware of the off leash area. This really is just meant to be a light-hearted thread about embarrassing things people dogs do. The whole point is that the dogs have obviously done something that isn't exactly a desirable behaviour, thus the embarrassment. Jules P was too busy standing with her mouth open in shock to bother calling back her extremely well trained dog. She was just super grateful that she hadn't gone there from dog school and therefore wasn't wearing her bright red instructors jumper! Now that would have been very embarrassing.

I've got something similar that a guy at Croydon made. If your dog hits the poles they do move a bit. Great for doing 2x2 though as you can move them around so easily.

If I was moronic enough to have a picnic in one of the few off lead areas in the entire shire and at a very large park with heaps of alternative picnic areas then no I wouldn't be annoyed if I got jumped on.
-
 A couple of weekends ago I let Poppy off lead in the off lead section of the park. She flew across the park squealing hysterically and launched herself into the middle of a family picnic! She went and sat right in the middle of their rug! And she was wet. I was so embarrassed

I don't at all! I went around the other day as I had an open house and thought I had better do a poo removal. No poo to be found. Not sure were the poo goes. Maybe dung beetles? I rarely see poo on the grass.

Sorry about that! They are pretty cool though. I can never be bothered carrying my normal travel crates around but that crate looks super portable.

	So sorry Sway. RIP Willow

I heard from the person from the horse forum. It was AEC. The dog was brought in at Wednesday night at 9.00pm. It was a solid colour dog. Dark grey or black. The person is very sure it was a Dane. Sort of disturbing that they reckon none were brought in?

	Stuff....lots of great stuff...free shipping.....isqueaks....free shipping....great dog stuf....free shipping....

EVERYTHING is cheaper there than here AND the dollar is still in our favour Those DOOG walkie belts are like $45 here. Kong products here are almost triple the price, too! Great time to stock up on Kong stuff if you like them! Yeah but the DOOG walkie belts are made by an Australian company! I think it is hilarious that we can order one from a US site cheaper than buying here.
-
I like the look of their crate mats and they are pretty good value too. The DOOG walking belts are cheaper then I have seen them in Australia, which is pretty funny! Might get the pop up travel crate too. Doesn't look very sturdy but Amber is pretty good in her crate.

Did they say they are going to fix up the check out so that shipping isn't charged, or do we all have to do this?? I'm at $274 already but that does include some trial prizes No mention of fixing it FHRP. Though if enough of us email them maybe they might realize they have a problem. Can only hope I didn't get a reply to my email. So I haven't put my order in. Can't remember it happening before with free shipping.

Mine tried to charge shipping too. I've emailed them! Maybe it is a site problem.

So much cool stuff....sigh.... There is a really great crate that folds up tiny! Wonder if that is part of free shipping.

I've sent Sway a PM but have got a report that a Great Dane was taken into the emergency vets in Hallam last night. No idea if it was the owners dog or not. Not sure which vet as there seem to be 2 emergency vets in Hallam.

Do You Still Vaccinate An Old Dog?JulesP replied to Mum to Emma's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming I did still vaccinate the oldies as I had pups for a number of years. I think I went a couple of years without vaccinating and then started again when I got the youngsters. I can't vaccinate Amber (2yo) as her liver will not cope with it.

My specialist gave me a list of nutritionists but they are all in America. Here is one of them: http://www.petdiets.com/

Have You Ever Opt For Your Second Choice Breed First?JulesP replied to Fleuri's topic in General Dog Discussion Border collies were not my first choice of breed. The hubby thought my first choice were too big. Now of course Border Collies are my heart breed.

Young Dog Who Has Broken Her LegJulesP replied to Zug Zug's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports My border collie Fern broke her leg. It seemed to heal ok but within a year or so of breaking her leg she snapped a tendon in the other back leg. Not sure if it was related but injuries can put stress on the other legs. The tendon didn't heal properly.
