It is more just a slip lead I want. I don't have collars on the dogs and want a couple of leads that I can get on them quickly if visitors arrive.

That is bad luck about Cindy. Hope she recovers ok from being bitten. Any Australian tug lead makers???

This is the beastie is question for those that are interested and don't go in the BC thread. It is thought that she will get more black hairs as she gets older. Amber -

Yes I know Amber is a shaded sable. Were have I said that she isn't?? -
Don't be down about it! Working with animals is not easy. Even the best of the best have problems. Go explain to a non-dog person what you had to do and they will be in awe!

Don't fret about it. Did you have a nice day out? Nice people? Fun hanging out with your doggie friend?

How did your walking go Sue & Cindy?

You can get a sable merle. You just can't see the merle, either at all or hardly. As it is dangerous to mate Merle to Merle, it would not be a good idea to mate a Sable to a Merle either. I can't think of a genetic reason of why you couldn't get a sable red either but it would just look like a clear sable ie no black hairs -

No sable isn't dilute red. It is caused by the agouti gene which very simply strips the dog's real colour off certain hairs. Amber is actually black with the agouti gene. In tri it strips the colour off in the tri pattern. -
Not sure if Poppy lacks confidence Janba but she is a major control freak and prefers the sheep not moving. She also likes to head. Haven't seen many B courses offered down here yet. The trial next month has B Course though. Amber was really good at the beginning SmoothieGirl. She lost a bit of interest when the sheepies weren't moving and then got a bit worried about it all. After a break she was happy to go back and tell the sheepies off through the fence so that was good. Hopefully there will be another clinic at the end of this month before the OES trial. Well done on your 2nd place

I looveeed agility when I first started it. Have swung back to preferring obedience now. Would really like to do a social type agility rather than full on comp stuff. Amber gave me some eye contact today after being asked to wait for her breakfast. She ducked her head down at first but then sat up and looked at me. So yeah!

Is this yard dog/3 sheep stuff Janba? Sounds like you had a good training session. I went to my clinic today. Worked on some of Poppy's 'issues'. She had decided the sheep had to stay in the obstacles and was heading them off, not very handy! We seem to have fixed that with some stops. Also worked on her walking through the obstacles as she didn't like that. Amber as you know also had her first whiz around the sheep.

The thing is the RSPCA is not the one person or even the one center. There are probably dicks working for them but I am sure there are heaps of good people too. To bundle them all in together isn't really fair. I know good dog people that work for them . I am sure most people start working for them because they want to help animals. I am also sure that not everyone that works there are 100% behind some of the head honchos decisions or views. I don't agree with everything my boss says! i prefer to judge the action rather than the organization or individual.

I've posted on Eques (horse forum) for help with looking for Magnus. Do you need any help with the horses? -
I find a lot of people have a very negative approach to teaching . They only tell you what is wrong, rather than also praise the good bits. Some people can handle this method, some can't. I know I can't. I tend to teach in a 'that was good but if you did this it would be brilliant' manner. So chin up Huski!

Women Injured And Animals Killed In Overnight Fires (caboolture Qld)
JulesP replied to Boronia's topic in In The News
JulesP, there is no new news as yet. Jed is unchanged at this stage, and the next 48 hrs are crucial. I imagine the smoke inhalation (damage to airways) is the major factor in Jed's critical condition right now. Steve will update us as soon as anything changes. Thanks dyzney. -
Is It Common For The Price Of Pups To Go Up Depending On Demand?
JulesP replied to Fleuri's topic in General Dog Discussion
I assume that by 'show pup' we are talking about a pup on the main register. It doesn't matter if the pup doesn't turn out to be show quality it can still be bred with if so desired by the owner. In that case I don't see a problem with a pup on main register costing more. I do think that going up on demand is a bit dodgy though and that would put me off. -

Humming-now they will know I am crazy LOL but it is a good idea-will try it. I tried this and it worked! I am stoked! Thanks everyone. Ciindy worked really well in short bursts and I managed to keep in time. Cindy did not lag as much as she tends to. Her drops were still slow but better. At our first CCD trial she scored 84 but it was a NQ-only 14 for heeling and I have entered a double trial this Sunday. Dare I hope for a pass or even 2? onward christian soldiers ;) I spent a heap of time singing 'a hunting we will go' for horse riding stuff. Another good thing about humming is it relaxes your body and you need to be breathing to sing! I want to sneak off for my first trial too but would need to go interstate I reckon to hide from the Croydon people.

Trying to find a trial I can actually get to. Teaching on Sundays is not helping! Might have to stop teaching.

It doesn't matter to Poppy if the lead is on but it does to me

Gosh Darien what a horrible experience for you all. RIP dog.
