    fraud

from The Guardian - just now : 9m ago14:11 Meanwhile, in Sydney: A Sydney man is accused of scamming more than $91,000 from wannabe dog owners in five states before laundering the money through cryptocurrency. Police say the man acted as a money mule for a multinational crime syndicate, receiving $91,580 in deposits from buyers into his bank accounts before converting the money into cryptocurrency. The 53-year-old was arrested on Tuesday morning at a unit on George Street in Sydney’s CBD. Police say the man placed fraudulent ads online, mostly for English Staffordshire Bull Terriers and French Bulldog puppies, defrauding at least 23 buyers across Victoria, NSW, South Australia, Queensland and Tasmania. The buyers paid deposits for dogs that never existed, before the fake breeders cut contact with them. Inquiries are continuing.
  2. this is about as close as things get without Clive shaking himself to pieces with fight/flight ..or Bobbin wondering whether to bite him or smooch him LOL
  3. No, some folks live in suburbs where dogs do get very ill or die because baits are thrown over fences/left on walking trails . Warnings about poisoned meat etc being found are mentioned on this forum often enough
  4. My Mitchell had a grass allergy as well! he just lived on prednil for most of his life ......
  5. All you've done is panic. You didn't buy a puppy - your well-meaning husband sadly did , and I dare say he now knows You and your dog had this pup dumped on you when you were not at all prepared ...and you reacted. I hope the breeder can take her back, I really do .It's where she should be . AS for this - it's just perfectly normal puppy behaviour , and is where single puppy owners step in with training and toys- to fill the gap No big deal .Your current dog must be wondering what on earth happened! LOL
  6. Astro/Dobby looked so cute I hope you have success in finding a new companion - it's not easy, what with COVID & all - but I'm sure there is someone out there waiting for you
  7. Welcome to DOL. little Mia RmS, she looks just the sweetest thing! The next 12 mths will be fun!! LOL
  8. Also - how long is dog alone each day ?What is your current routine for the dog? OR are you planning on getting a dog and are working out what to do when/if you get one?
  9. What do you have in the room/s where she is showing this behaviour? Anything new electronic? ?air fresheners? Phone chargers? Anything different? what is she like on walks etc? Is it in EVERY room at home . or just a couple of rooms? Is the house old or new ? Agree with staying OFF drugs until you have the behaviours exhibited in all environments at all times - making the dog the one common ingredient . At present, from your posts, it seems that something at home is the cause.....frightening her - putting her on high alert . ..and it obviously IS frightening her . It is now a matter of finding out what the something IS !! Detective hats ON!
  10. so what they have done is gone with one of the popular online DNA tests which tells you what your dog is ? is it that sort of DNA test? This then is VERY different from a pedigreed dog - where you have a bloodline going back many generations - where you can see the history of every ancestor there on the page - where those ancestors have ( if the breeder does things ethically) been tested for any faults/diseases they may carry , any championship titles won ,and which dogs created which litters. DNA testing to 'prove' a dog is 'pure' poodle is very different to a DNA test looking for faults in the genetic make-up.
  11. he is still doing HIS thing - wonderful to see . I am glad you posted this update - dear old boy.
  12. I was wondering the same thing ....We have one boy who is a similar shape and is STRONG as - it wouldn't be too hard to imagine how an infusion of that sort of bloodline could keep things going....
  13. Have you tried the 2/3litre clear plastic juice bottles ? A small amount of treats/ kibble inside...place it on lawn or where ever..and let him puzzle it out because I can't afford to buy the really good puzzles, our dogs just get these ! It takes them a while, especially if there are a few larger slices of Apple in there to slow the flow !
  14. lovely big strong dogs ! I like Hopefully with such limited numbers , they can keep them healthy and of good temperament
  15. "pet/backyard breeders" can register as breeders with their local council - whether they are breeding mixed breeds or whatever - so yes, they may be 'registered' , but NOT registered with any Kennel Control Council - therefore any pedigree they may posses cannot be authenticated/recognised. Ask them are they registered with their State's control organisation. have a look here for the relevant bodies .
  16. yes Nice to see ! Off topic- she has the most amazing plush coat ..with no longer hairs - just a short thick winter coat , unbelievably soft , and lovely to stroke
  17. It is a common practice . Some of the less reputable breeders don't - but any breeder SHOULD . If no one did, many breeds would become sickly and probably die out because of illness/deformities. many, many people buy pedigreed puppies from country/interstate breeders without ever seeing a parent . The pedigree/health test results and breeder's reputation should all be above reproach , allowing for a confident buying agreement . Research/striking a relationship with the breeder is important. Find out as much as you can ! if the breed is a herding breed, for example - Do any of the dogsin the pedigree lines work? Do they show? Is the breeder happy with the temperament generally? When pup is born ....then starts eating , ask about diet , and worming - get the name of whatever food is being fed - number of meals etc .....
  18. had to put this one in - here's the one causing all the trouble . I am standing doing dishes, and here she is ....gotta be touching my feet , somehow . Just before this shot she had her head on my foot! She's a strange wee beastie
  19. I send update messages to her foster-carers , and had to smile last night . I mentioned how she & Clive were almost eating together , and they mentioned their shock at how much the "Flying Ninja Cat" had mellowed! Anyway- she certainly has mellowed- instead of spitting fire & brimstone at Don this morning, she just gently sniffed his paw
  20. if he is on a farm there could be a number of reasons for a quarantine - either a plant or farm animal disease/parasite . Nothing to do with covid, but vitally important to the security and income of a farmer! All sorts of nasties can be carried on car tyres/shoes etc . You visiting before pups are on the ground is not usual practice - and is NO way to check if parents are carrying some genetic disease which may be passed on to a puppy, anyhow. the only thing you can do is research the breed, and ask politely if tests" A,B,C" have been done to check for diseases ..and also ask to see the results of said tests . I would also be googling the "kennel/breeder " name and seeing what other dogs of theirs are out there
  21. they are two of the most fortunate Rotties -having such a dedicated owner and a magic spot to live
  22. the next exciting installment : For those playing at home - yes, Clive now sleeps inside- alongside my bed . Bobbin sleeps in her room next to mine , separated by a wire grille and a door which needs to be shut carefully. I was just getting the legs out of bed this morning when I heard that door open ! there glided in Miss B ..right up to Clive, before I could react, and stopped about a centimetre from boppin him on the nose with her head ! I'm pretty sure that was her intent - that's what it looked like ! he started shaking- I unfroze , patted her and told her how wonderful she was - and started breathing again ....and then watched her make passes at Clive as she waltzed around the room for a few minutes until I put her back in her room .Poor Clive's eyes were bugging out- and he was too scared to move ! progress! Stay tuned....
  23. If it's any consolation, the owner's in tears as well - she is devastated.I know, it doesn't help ....
