  1. for that idea .. and it also seems to point toward a nice safe secure run for outdoors ..so he can roll around and play ... with no worries :) and as a reply to nobull... none of my pups have ever been crated ..and yes, I got up frequently during the night with them, and a pet piglet , who WAS crated at night . During the day, when unsupervised they were in a pen with a kennel .. sand to play in, toys and large bones.
  2. toilet on command is taught here..and , yes, timing is everything :) you need to watch your pup all the time..and when peeing , just say the cue word ( just in an ordinary voice tone ..several times) ... I use 'quick quick' every single time your pup pees ...then good pup , and a little play . then say the word when your pup is about to squat ...then when you let her out ......then when she is on leash, in a particular spot...etc.
  3. Hi... I am so sorry Did the vet do blood tests? With 1 dog dying and another very ill .. there may be a connection ... maybe an illness or a poison? Just something to mention to the vet when you ask for a blood test . I hope the vet visit tomorrow helps you and Osca.
  4. Many years ago , my vet had one response to all those with older creaky, somewhat overweight dogs ..brown rice, chicken & vegies . I remember one old lady who said that as it helped her little dog so much, she was eating it as well, and felt terrific!! :)
  5. Sam is a lucky boy ..and I'm sure will enjoy all this effort to make him comfy :) Thanks for the update.

  11. Will the breeder keep pup until you are all set? It would be such a lovely thing to start off , securely , in more ways than one ! :) Can you visit pup if breeders keep him?
  12. Losing Jed was an awful experience for you .... and not meaning to belittle the impact in any way .. I think you have now been given an opportunity to provide Kirra with a fantastic - human oriented , training and relationship foundation . :) She will benefit greatly from the one on one multiple short training sessions during the day ...the long 'boring' walks , where she learns to relax and go steady and focus on who is on the other end of the lead (and no, ..not every walk needs a hyped up dog) .... She will blossom, I think - being able to concentrate on mastering communication with you, and receiving much education and reward for accomplishments :) She will have opportunity to learn to 'chill'..and also to provide her brain with exercise using all the great things you leave her with - paddling pool, sandpit, frozen food laced iceblocks, soccer balls , treat balls .... all that sort of thing :)
  13. Oh yes! All sorts of things can be placed on a concrete slab! :) Oh.. and re a soft crate .. they are very hot ..and also easy for pups to rip/chew their way out of
