Why did the original listing say 'seized for investigation'?

yep, slippery elm is great. I have been using it since the eighties for dogs and humans.

Buyer Owes Money For Pup, Not Answering Calls.
Diva replied to Safffy's topic in General Dog Discussion
I took a landlord to a small claims tribunal for not much more. A lot of hassle, but was it worth it? Hell yes! Not for the money as much as for teaching the turkey a lesson. -
The funny thing is, I never saw this bat sh*t crazy of which people speak. Must just have been lucky, but ran 3 large entire males together for years with no issues. Not even with bitches in season in the vicinity. Not even after one was used at stud. The average pet owner may well not manage as well, and certainly should desex if they can't keep them safe, but I found my boys quite delightful.

How do you love a dog into being neurotic? By being hugely inconsistent. By expecting a dog to provide the kind of emotional support only a fellow human can. By developing huge irrational anxiety about their health and letting them experience that anxiety. By not believing they need exercise but thinking hot water bottles and being tucked in at night are essential. By lavish displays of affection but not letting them out of your sight 24/7 and teaching them the world is very scary, all of it. By feeding treats as diet because they are special. That is how a friend of mine did it to her swf. She wasn't well, and no matter how much she loved that dog, which she did, she needed him to feel as terrified and incapable as she was. And she refused to see any of it. It was very sad.

Australian Osterosarcoma Trials

Any advance in treating that horrible disease would be wonderful -
All my boys have been kept entire. Never had a resulting problem with them, neither behavioural nor medical.

I hope the dog was asleep, the idea of it trying to run away and being held back by the chain as the snake stalks it is pretty awful. Stupid, stupid, stupid woman.

Condolences on your loss, a very hard decision. From what I have read the damage may have been as much from the antivenene as from the venom, but you did what you had to with their best interests at heart and that is all that could be asked. Good luck with the others.

judged out here a lot too.

One of mine had a mammary lump removed last year. Small as we caught it early and it was benign, so not really anything to worry about. But we removed it anyway as apparently research has shown that the benign lumps can progress to malignancy over time. Fingers crossed for you.

Canberra Vet Recommendations For Older Arthritic Dog
Diva replied to dharma's topic in General Dog Discussion
Both the above, plus Ivan Gavazov at Weston Woden. I have also heard Hamish at West Queanbeyan and Helen Purdham at Hall recommended highly but I haven't used them, I stick to Ivan or Sandra. -
I would probably desex her, even at 11. I don't routinely desex but I think the risk of ongoing infections now she has started down that path might be worth it. I did once desex an older shepherd bitch with an ovarian issue and she came through very well. I would run bloods first, have fluids during the op, and make sure the vet was competent with anaesthesia. But if in doubt, get a second opinion.

Dogs Get 3rd Degree Burns At A Canberra Groomers
Diva replied to Her Majesty Dogmad's topic in In The News
I am looking forward to a hydrotherapy facility in the region, my old dog would have benefited a lot if we had one in driving distance. -
Mine have done well on TOTW and also the Costco grain free. But they don't have a specific issue with grain and have also done well on Holistic Select/Eagle Pack. I dont know what has chicken and what hasn't though, never needed to check. They don't like Wellness or Canidae much, low palatability for them. My cat wouldn't touch the Welness cat food I got her either, that whole purchase was a bit of a flop.

I got my first dog when I moved out of home as a teenager, he travelled with me through share houses and rental challenges. Wherever I was he knew was home. He was a beautiful pedigree Borzoi pup, a tricolour, a big dog but a perfect gentleman and a brilliant ambassador for the breed. A condition of purchase was that I show him occasionally and he titled easily. We tried to train in obedience but the club wouldn't have us, after commenting on how beautifully behaved he was they told me 'those breeds can't do obedience'. I didn't know until I handled other people's dogs that some dogs pull on lead, or don't listen, he never did anything to inconvenience me if he could help it. I loved the breed before I got him, and loved them even more afterwards, I still have them 30 years later.
-
It is too many for me when they don't get on, I can't easily fit them all in the car at once, or I am breaking the law to have them. Currently I have 2, which is too few. For me to increase happiness, just add Borzoi.

Dogs Queensland Wanting To Restrict The Limit Register

could not agree more -
we have those here too coogie. I call them the spandex brigade  Ah yes, the Mamils. Middle aged men in lycra. Although to be fair we have a lot of quite serious cyclists around here, and at least they are exercising..

Fair enough. I don't like human terms for dogs like furbaby, but mostly because it often reflects a mind set that says they are little people. Treat them as they deserve and you can call them god or the devil for all I care.
-
I don't think that was it, she was saying they don't fight at the million paws walk because they are just like us, just little people in fur suits. (Actually there are fights at that event, but that is another story.) I wasn't upset by it, as much as dismayed. I used to teach at one of the community based dog clubs here, used to teach in my previous state too. And I really felt for the dogs who had owners that really did expect them to be little people in fur coats. OMG, it killed a chook? It is an evil muderer, who knows when it will turn on the kids. it pooed on the carpet? Clearly a vengeful and spiteful little person. It chewed a shoe-it should know better, it picked my best shoes too so it must be deliberate. It licks its butt, it sniffs other butts, eeww yuk how do i stop that disgusting behaviour!! Doesn't get walked, oh it doesn't need that it goes for rides in the car instead. I have seen the expectations of people who think dogs are people, and they are cruel on the dogs. I would like dogs to be valued and understood as dogs. They deserve that. It is sad when they are expected to be people instead.

She is a regular.

2cc in Canberra. I was a bit shocked really. No wonder people get so upset when their dog does something inherently 'doggy' and think there is something wrong with it. I wrote what I know of her name but edited it out as Troy might not be impressed with naming names.

Well I just heard a local vet say on commercial radio that dogs are "just little people with fur". So I think I give up, understanding and valuing dogs for their own nature is a futile aim if even the professionals advise they are little people in fur coats. No wonder so many dogs have behavioural problems. Bring on the furbabies.
