  1. When she came home Cedro was a bit confused and didn't go near her, they normally are together all the time, but after a day they were back to being buddies again and are asleep together on the bed. She is still weeing heaps but she is happier and has more energy now. I was so frightened for her it was a very quiet home without her.
  2. No Cass they didn't it was a very expensive few days! She thinks she might have had a bacterial thing in her stomach. I was thinking if it was the town water. I don't give them town water usually but I have done a few times in the last few weeks. But the other two would have had the same reaction. So who knows, her poo is runny and smells disgusting so maybe its leaving her body.
  3. Anna is home and is a different dog although she now has a bit of a waist. Danny just dropped her off my home is a home again with people/dogs present. :) :) :) :) :) :)
  4. She ate something yesterday arvo she had abs when she had the op, she can come home today but I cant get her home so she stays until tomorrow or wednesday. Its frustrating I want her here but the wonderful person who will pick her up is working so I will wait. The vet isn't charging me for the extra two days!
  5. So is Cedro so they may be cousins. The are the cutest pups and can be a little bit norty but I had Anna Cedro's mum to keep him in line. He is so gentle and soft, loves people. Trish told me hers like to be out there at shows so they can meet people and get pats. Cedro is just like that he loves people. She picked the right dog for me I believe she gives great thought into what pup go's where, to match people and dog. I am so glad I waited for him and no doubt sooner or later I will get another, three Fauves IS a crowd!
  6. Hi Corvus another Fauve lover yaaaah. Where did he get his pup from he may be related to Cedro. For about eighteen months Cedro was ok he followed scents but wasn't so determined to get after them but around two years of age his nose seemed to come in really strongly and it now is all or nothing. Just to watch him follow a scent is amazing, every morning he covers the whole yard inch by inch looking to see who went over it. Its just great to watch.
  7. They were going to test her out with roast chook this arvo, I hope it works.
  8. I have had Cedro for two years since he was a pup, I also have his mother Anna. They are Bassett Fauves and are bred to hunt and chase but also be a family dog. Anna is soft and gentle and has really not a huge amount of prey drive Cedro is a crazy dog when it comes to a scent. He cant be off the lead in the bottom of my yard because he will sail over my 6foot fences and is gone in seconds. Once his nose is down he will not answer to anything. I have to physically catch and hold him, usually when he is totally exhausted. People say about Fauves, when you call them they will stop look over their shoulders and then go! That's exactly what Cedro does. He is a lovely soft boy with a very hot nose. His mother will catch and kill small things in the yard and I have called them of a snake and they have come, but a roo or a cat and its on for Cedro. They were bred to follow their noses and they will. So I control were he goes and what he does, I don't take him out on the street because Im paranoid someone will know what he is and steal him, there are a lot of piggers up here who would love to add him to the mix. I have already have had one bloke who wanted to take him! The info I have read here is really helpful for me but I just cant imagine finding something he would want other than to chase. Ive tried everything and up till now haven't found anything that he will ever consider.
  9. Cedro is Basset Fauve so if they can do it he can, their ears are heaps bigger and Cedro's legs are longer!
  10. I would love my Cedro to do this but I think if there was any kind of scent on the ground Id loose him. He is very fast when there is a scent to follow and you get the singing as a bonus!
  11. Compared to when I took her out there that's great. My problem is the vet is 70ks away and I don't have a car! Thankfully Fi's hobit takes me if she cant. I am so thankful I have such good friends. I would have been useless without them. Edited to say I just spoke to the vet and Anna still isn't eating and is back on the drip, so she wont be home today as we were hoping. She said she is waggy but not hungry its been 4 days since she ate she must be starving.
  12. The vet rang me last night and told me that they did remove a fatty lump and she has an ulcer. She thinks its a bacterial thing in her stomach. She wont come home until she has eaten but was perkier last night and wanted out of her crate. She said they will find out what is happening! You would think one dog missing from three wouldn't make much of a difference, but its so quiet here. No fighting for space in the bed no running around being annoying, one hound is quiet two are noisy
  13. Welllll they found nothing when they opened her up how that can be I don't know. But they saw how ill she was so we still haven't found out what is wrong. So at least I know she will come home for a while. But the vet said the trouble is they don't know what is wrong still.
  14. Thanks everyone for your thoughts. Anna has a large tumour in her stomach Im waiting for them to call me. I told them not to wake her if its inoperable. I said goodbye to her this morning just incase. Vet said it wasn't a good looking mass at all. I think Im broken.
  15. She has no strength she cant get into the chair she likes and her back legs arnt good. If I was somewhere on the coast I would think its a tick. I found a sore on the side of her face yesterday maybe she has been bitten by something. I don't know and hate that I cant help her.
  16. She is worse today than she was yesterday and no interest in food at all. I am so worried about her. Cedro just doesn't understand his mum doesn't want to be near him.
  17. I just spoke to Fi and rang the vet I will take her to the vet tomorrow. Ill leave them off tonight just in case they are making what is wrong with her worse, that's what it feels like. Im so worried about her she has never not eaten. And Fi says if she doesn't eat she has nothing to fight what ever is happening. She is also depressed and feeling down didn't come for our walk and just wants to sleep. So we will see the vet tomorrow.
  18. Yep everything she loves she has never been off her food that's why she is tubby. I think I will leave off the abs for tonight just to see if her tummy feels better in the morning.
  19. My lovely girl Anna is not well. All last week and this one, she has been drinking more than usual and weeing heaps as well. So much so she weed on my bed twice on Tuesday and vomited. So we went to the vet and he put her through heaps of tests and she doesn't have diabetes, her kidneys are ok as is her liver. We also tested for infection. No signs od anything. He sent me home with ABs just in case she had a uti. Since she started the ABs on Tuesday she was showing signs of improvement and wasn't weeing as much. But now she wont eat and Im worried about giving her abs without food, I will ring the vet tomorrow. Any suggestions will be greatly accepted, Anna is around 7 and usually a happy soft girl, I love her to bits and am worried sick about her.
  20. My big boy Bob lived with me through some really hard times, he saved me from myself so many times I cant count. Im still alive because of him. When I lost him it was hard hard for me I also lost my rescue girl Molly on the same day. I thought I wouldn't ever get over loosing them. Not have the noise of the two of them and Gilly rushing to the door to meet me was so hard. Gilly and I mourned for so long, I thought I would loose Gilly as well he was so sad, but then Cedro and Anna came and there was noise in my home again. But its not the same noise as Bobs. I still cry when I think of him, how he was always by my side, how when he met a snake he jumped straight up in the air, how he hated foxes and lightening terrified him because of the shooters. I will miss him until I meet him again.
  21. This is a big problem for me, I have two hounds and a terrier so nothing is safe in my yards. I have cut my yard in half so there is a wild part that sometimes has a snake and lots of lizards, I also have my front yard fenced off as well and have a huge Bluey that lives in the front yard. The other day I caught Anna with a bluey tail in her mouth. I try to get them before they are hurt and Im in the yard with them when they are out but sometimes they get something. Cedro is good he drops but Anna and Gilly just kill and throw. I hate it. I have put safe places for lizards all over my bottom yard with wood and hollow logs and water as well. They will always come here because I have paddocks on one side and behind my place.
  22. It brought back memories of my Bob and Molly and Blake. I lost Bob and Molly on the same day. It nearly broke my heart even now 3 years after it is hard to think about. So a good cry by me too. But he was happy and loved and that's all a dog can be isn't it, loved and happy.
  23. I just want to tell people what life is like with a pair of fauves. Its WONDERFUL, exciting, interesting and you never feel alone! There is always a bit of a Fauve somewhere near you, on you or about to be on you. They are gentle loving dogs that will take any chance they get to chase a sent. Keeping that in mind Cedro is perminantly on a lead outside but Anna I can trust MOST of the time. Life is never dull I have to say. Yes they shed all the time. I am like the character in Peanuts with a halo of fur, especially now when Im grooming them everyday. But its worth the anxiety when Cedro escapes and when Im covered in fur when I go to work, its all worth it. I love my fauves.
  24. Its pillows in this house. Im not completely sure who it is but Anna is too lazy, so its either the oldest or the youngest or both together. Gilly likes to hump and dyestuff at the same time, Im hoping it isn't him!
