  1. Both of my dogs suffer from very dry noses. They do not spend too much time outside, are fed mostly raw (canine country), have access to fresh water 24/7, have nice/shiny coats and are in reasonably good health for 'old' bullies. I put paw-paw ointment on their noses every morning and it sort of maintains the condition. It does not fix it. What am I doing wrong? Can I add something to their diet to help the noses stay nice and healthy? Help please
  2. How about Nutrigel for dogs "Nutrigel is a high calorie, highly palatable source of dog and cat vitamin supplementation recommended for inclusion in diets of dogs and cats where levels may be low." Does not solve the problem but may help - maybe Angus can recommend something better. Our thoughts are with you DDD and Dany. Come on little boy. Give your mumma something to smile about.
  3. Well done May he repay you 1000 times for your kindness.
  4. When you are ready for a change, please have a look at http://www.caninecountry.com.au/ My team has been on this for years (one with very sensitive tummy) and I am more than happy to recommend this food.
  5. Apologies it didn't come out right All I wanted to say is that, in my experience, dachshounds are not that great with kids AS WELL
  6. I would not recommend dachshounds. We had them as kids and ours were total Princesses! Smart, cunning and absolutely determined to get what they wanted. I adore the breed but IMHO dachshounds are more suited to adult home.
  7. I do not have experience with this but I have a dog guru - Patricia McConnell. Perhaps you can post the question on her facebook https://www.facebook.com/PatriciaMcConnellPhD or maybe send her your questions via contact us on her blog http://www.patriciamcconnell.com/theotherendoftheleash/ You never know, she may be willing to respond. Just a thought.... and good luck
  8. Run free the most beautiful pig in the wold. You will be missed. Reading about your antics has brought many smiles and laughter to us. May you find everything a pig could want at the end of the rainbow. Fare thee well.
  9. We have used Neotopic H forever and there is a large dispenser in the fridge :-) The best thing for itchy/bleeding/sore spots.
  10. Oh Pers, the ones who choose us are the best kind :D Hugs and hugs to you.
  11. I am sorry Pers It hurts to loose the loved one. You have given him home, love, appreciation and added a few (probably many) wonderful years to his life. Dear Dougal, rest well. May the cat-haven offer you a barn full of mice to chase, many dog and cat friends to play with and lots of super-special treats instead of boring meals. Have fun little one.

  15. Ohhh nooooos.... don't go there I have've had 3 ABs (only 2 left now :-(). They are all ABS registered. ABS has health check in place, breeder guidelines, etc and they are striving for the ANKC registration. That's where I will be getting my next pup. Have a look @ http://bundybullkennels.com/australianbulldogs/abd.com_menu.html and ABS http://www.australianbulldogsociety.com/ Edit: Send me a pm if you want to know more
  16. + 1. My first foster dog became my FF. I am worse than you - I never even attempted to find him a home. He was mine after a few days.
  17. + 1. Beautiful, beautiful souls. Thank you for sharing.
  18. I assume that your vet has eliminated heart arrhythmia. Is it possible that external stimuli causes this reaction (stress, fear, excitement, etc)? Edit: My sister's dog had similar symptoms. We did lots of tests. Eventually, one of the specialists suggested stress reaction to something. She hasn't had an episode for a long time now.
  19. Love Columbus @ 21. You are so, so, so lucky. Congrats.
  20. "We underestimate the impact they have on us and those around us" So very true. Condolences from all of us.
  21. If it's heartburn "Quick Eze" tablet may help.
  22. I am so sorry for your loss. RIP Oliver.
  23. Thank you for all your great suggestions. I will take them all on board - hopefully something works. Mita: My 2 other dogs are 7.5 and 6.5 ie very mature considering what they are. It's ok if it takes a month or so but I want to avoid creating a grieving pattern. It can be self-feeding in the long run. Haredown Whippets: Guilty as charged. We really miss her and though we try to be 'good', we are probably sending all sorts of wrong signals to them. Re exercise; the dogs get 2 walks per day and there is little chance of more due to time issues. You have given me an idea - perhaps we'll go somewhere special this weekend. It might help ***fingers very crossed***.
