Any breed may be suitable but you as the owner makes or breaks a dogs nature. If you dont put the training or effort in even the most stable breed may not be suitable.

You need to interfere when it gets over the top its not as simple as saying "let them go for it". In our house all the dogs are equal & we have no issues at all but when a new baby is allowed to jointhe pack we do so carefully, some will try the strut about stuff which we do not allow, the main issue is simply rough play that the pup isnt able to stand up too . The bitch needs to understand the pup is no threat but you cant let her get away with it.Both dogs must be equal in your eye & you are the pack leader.Whilst the older dog will try to be the pack leader you must also as the owner set the rules whilst he is young & not hormonal or inclined to react & she must learn that she isnt the queen bee.

Im sorry to sound harsh but what did you expect??You seriously didnt think a 12 week old & mature adult could just be left out to play together .It will be atleast 6 months before you can fully trust harsh playtime .At this stage its simply a case of putting yourself out & allowing for small play sessions until the pup is old enough & not so fragile to romp around

Depends on the brand, the strength & the type.I use it here every day on my large dogs & follow the directions on the product . I use the powder

Bikle its up to you but many vets have started on the puppy preschool fad because it is extra dollars especially when your not getting a qualified person taking the classes. Any person could run PP but if the intercation is done wrong & the instructor isnt able to intervene & assist then yes your $50 is wasted. Most classes are up to 10 dogs so thats $500 for 4 weeks so they do make money as the product donated is the product that vets sells which may not be what your breeder has recommend. Some vets solely promote a certain brand & willpush that at these classes but if it isnt what your breeder suggested it isnt much value to you. I would be wanting to now what the qualifactions are of the instructor etc etc PP is about teaching you how to let your puppy socialize ,how to read body language etc etc,if the instructor hasnt a clue then what will you learn. As i said KC is very bad at present in perth & quite a few vets have cancelled there classes due to the risk to puppies. I would phone your vet up as an enquiry & see how many cases they have seen. In the end its solely up to you.

If the vet has seen 2 cases of parvo i wouldnt be taking my pup & would be very cautious of the subarian area at present. As to puppy preschool in perth, canine cough is going around badly at present & i wouldnt be going to the vets unless it was an emergency & even for vaccs i would leave dog in car until your turn. Some vets have actually cancelled there PP at present because of the canine cough issue at present. Most PP arent run by the vets but vet staff some PP trainers are not qualified & can cause more issues than good .It has become a business opportunity for many vets but they dont give you a qualified trainer.

Yep the coat keeps growing .If these owners intend not to clip then its very selfish on there behalf, probaly dont want to spend money on grooming & the dog pays the ultimate prive

I would scrape that diet alltogether. Pal puppy is great for small breeds & The intetional eating stage but once able to eat well we no longer use it.The milk is of no use. The pal puppy would also cost a fortune. I would get a good biscuit & use lamb flaps, frames, knecks, mutton etc. My large breed babaies ate far more than now. As a rule of thumb providing they are fully wormed the dog shouldnt be popping out more than it eats nor should it be overweight but if the diet isnt suitable it can affect adult condition

Rememeber one thing there are owners who are home all day & the dogs spend all there life outside, get no social activities,no compainship time . It seems people think because you work & want a dog your irresponsable especially if you want a pup. Older dogs from rescue can be just as much work as a puppy so i dont see that as an arguement for someones situation & there is nothing wrong with someone wanting a pup to train there way & enjoy it from 8 weeks to old age. As a groomer i can tell you now the worst owners for not brushing or training there dogs are the ones home all day

The Keeshonds we clip off are purely body, you dont clip the legs as the look is awful & it wont blend with the body. Depending on the condition of the coat we would use a #3.Many Keeshonds whilst having a thick coat are much finer once clipped & in summer you dont want the dog to get sunburnt. Having said that you could also use the clip one combs to still give & nice fuzzy/full appearance . Personally i would get it professionally done ,first time dogs can be a nightmare when they hear the clippers & it must be a posistive experience. We always suggest with our pup owners get it done proffessionally first & atleast get the dog trained,in your case its an older dog & unless its use to standing on table & the full works it can be scary . Many people in the proffessional field i now use oster,we use double K. I suggest you go to places that sell clippers & hold the models ,they do vary alot & comfort is a personal thing

I use Pantene have done so for over 15 yrs. I tried some dog ones but never got the same result or the after show quality

yes we can all loose control but do you hit people when they annoy or just your dogs??If so whats the difference & what did you achieve by hitting the dog??

We are a multi dog household & have never had issues with the dogs bonding more to the dogs than humans.Every dog is different so you approach each dog to there needs. We seperate pups from adults here when not supervised as no matter how well behaved they are pups are annoying & a big dog can only be so gentle. We have showdogs & we dont go out of our way to seperate we prefer to teach each dog that there time will come & to be relaxed & patient. Pups break so easily so even the most gentle dog can have a zoomie & plough through a baby.It doesnt take long for pup to grow up & be able to play with the adult,so we prefer to play it safe

When To Start Training A Pup
Dogsfevr replied to TessaBella's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
All the answers will be given too if you purchase from a good breeder, many of use start lead training before they go & then show you how to follow on with it. Whilst the basic concept is the same some breeds have little habits that a good breeder can help with. We arent a believer in puppy preschool ,many do not have qualified staff running them & no matter what there is a higher risk of picking up bugs.Dogs go to the ets because there due for there needles but maninly because there sick -
Tuckertime do a special Pancretitas roll wihich is very good & the dogs do like like they also do a low fat one. The key is with the dog being old a big diet change could be more trouble so any changes do very slowly

Diabetes is become very common,we get alot of dogs in boarding with it. Really you need to wait for the test results as each dog is different but it can be very easy to maintain you just have to be very diet aware etc

Dobes are notorious for whinning. Did you get Harley as a pup or as an older dog?? If an older dog what /where did he come from & do you now what his routine was in the past. The key is dont give him but you need to try & figure out what he wants & find a happy ground

You should be keeping the one with special needs.if its too much for you to accomadate them then just remember finding a permant special home will be alot harder. As you made the decision to keep her alive it really should be up to you to raise her . Your fears of the special needs pup should be considered before placing her out & expecting someone else to deal with the hard decisions & issues that you dont want too. Whilst the litter wasnt your doing you are the one who made the decision to keep her alive despite her problems. You cant just keep the best because another is a problem. You need to advertise & see what sort of people are willing to take on the special needs pups as you may find placing her out to be very hard as pet people also hope to have there pup grow into an adult
-
sibe remember you want to show this dog so the roll is of no benefit in the show world nor will you be able to do that in the ring or outside.I personally agree it is a totally useless procedure that after the 2 parties have battled each other no one has one & if you have to keep doing it it just shows the dog hasnt learnt.
-
Any practise like must be done with a very calm non reactive dogs, until as handlers you both have understaood how to control the dogs i agree it would be a double trouble disaster. I would ask the trainers at obedience for more advice, nearly all the good clubs i now of have trainers there who will work one on one during the class to get you the extra help you need,if your club isnt good then maybe seek a new one

I can highly suggest Applecross vet, very experienced, good prices, after hrs service(most vets shut at 7 & refer you to murdoch). Have used them for over 20 yrs now
-
You may also find the dog is cold once placed outside & getting hungry.Do you feed before going to work ?
-
I would maybe watch where you walk the adult dog for awhile, instead of going to the park just walk around the block & preferably on the road. Your adult dog could bring parvo home but also remember you can bring it home on your shoes so i would play it safe & let the 2 dogs interact & make it bonding time without taking the adult to high risk areas. Keep playpen in an area where it can still see ,that way pup is still exposed to noises people etc & also learns to sleep & have time out whilst distractions are there

Okay a few questions. *will the dog have access outside *What sort of social life do you have(many people work but many have very busy social lifes which means the dog spends alot of no people time We place puppies out with people that work as there good owners but some breeds cope better with being alone alot compared to others. I personally dont think a toy poodle is a breed that generally copes with alot of no people time & do suffer from seperatin issues more than most breeds do. Older dogs can/cant work out ,am older dog is just as much work as a puppy because it can be harder for older dogs to settle /adjust to a new home

When it first happen what did you do?? I mean was this a novelty at first & not disciplined & now its a pain?
