Personally i would be flying . All my pups are flown to me & my dogs fly all the time & never had issues, yes issues can happen but the same applies with driving. If they truly want to meet the breeder & make a weekend of it then maybe okay but honestly given the heat if there was a cool day forecast pup would be flown quick & simple

I too wouldn't put my dog through it. But its your decision & something you all have to be happy to live with . Our Grey had very early stages but only lasted 3 months before it spread
-
Our Grey had the same diagnosis & we opted to let her enjoy her time after discussing with other people & seeing dogs we board with similar procedures. Yes many dogs cope well but we decided it wasn't an option we wished to put her through . She enjoyed a few months of still being a dog before we new it was time

A Hypothetical Question For Breeders
Dogsfevr replied to kelpiecuddles's topic in General Dog Discussion
After a set time i think 25 you can protect your prefix ,never to be used again. International prefixs can also be protected & not used anywhere world wide . Prefix holders can also protest if they feel a new prefix sounds to similar or is spelt very similar often why it isn't simple getting what you want . Our business is our prefix but we had the prefix before our business & decided to use it but if we sell our business the name will not go with it -
A Hypothetical Question For Breeders
Dogsfevr replied to kelpiecuddles's topic in General Dog Discussion
Actually i think your hypothetical is making more out of a situation than need be. Many people get there first dog to show ,many at that point have no interest in breeding or holding a prefix . There are more important things for me than whether the person phoning has a prefix who is starting out . When people contact us about a show pup then thats where we start ,discussing about breeding comes up after we have decided whether there even committed to showing in the first place . Purchasing a mains dog is more than being a breeder its about doing all the right things before even considering breeding. 99% of people who contact us wanting a showdog don't even bother coming to a show ,often its just a ploy to get main papers ,Our pets are spayed anyway so no drama of people breeding . I have owned/co owned many top showdogs with awesome breeders & i have the same expectations in the way i treat them *& in reward the way they treat me .If people making contact can't show the same basic respect for learning even before they get the breed then we aren't interested in the show aspect.I say learning because our breed isn't wash & wear & it requires a very dedicated owner to do the work & we don't see it as a hardship to make time & see if your committed to it or not after all we won't sell someone something we wouldn't show . Personally i would be more put off by a total novice having a prefix & using that as a means of impressing a breeder -
I think the main thing is to have a plan that you aren't reliant on no ones assistance but also have a shared plan if they can help . Have leads ready ,personally during fire evacs we have helped with we only use slip leads for added safety & quickness. Have cat cages ready & even lock cats in one area . First & foremost i would be getting copies of all important documents & either leaving them at work, email to your work email or leaving at a safe friends house . You can make signs saying pets here & what exactly . Horses put details of head gear )phone numbers, names ). Sadly warning & time often don't work in your favour . I tend to agree maybe boarding in safe area if you can find a kennel with spots, maybe ask employees whether they would be happy with crated pets or if you can do work from home for the day . I would hope some bosses use there brains where possible & let staff in a high risk scenario be at home . i do have to say this is when crate trained pets are a blessing as many people will help with dogs that are crated . http://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/plan-prepare/pets-and-bushfires/

The diet isn't exactly putting on weight food .Just because the others get it doesn't mean it suits this dog .
-
Some just never do. First i would looking at what is feed * how much is feed. Age of dog activity level Is it skinny or is it long in loin which makes it look skinny Then consider a vet visit maybe

Yes i had results but i also feel in my large breeds it also caused other issues . A good chiro i would happily see & have done so . We used an awesome one many years ago who used a "gentler" method to work backs & the likes but she stopped doing it. The ones we used towards the end i felt struggled with large dogs & trying to fix the issue required to many attempts & soreness .
-
I gave up on the chiro for bowen but it comes down to how often you go & whether there is an issue & what methods are taken to assist, prevent. I prefer bowen on the large dogs ,if i felt a chiro would help with an issue i would use that option but at this stage found better results with bowen but i do go regularly

I have tried roo on one of my dogs & a total disaster . No meat is perfect its what suits each dog . Roo is easy to come buy
-
The simple option would be to transfer the dog into joint names . So if either your son or yourself are handling you are both members & both names appear on the papers. As for Junior handlers ( i presume you mean as the handler not the competition just for juniors??)

Ask what the breeder washes there dogs in .
-
Depends what your wanting to buy
-
We would never give other owners private details out either .

Dry Food For My British Bulldog Pup!
Dogsfevr replied to samanthony23's topic in General Dog Discussion
Good diets vary but ultimately the dog decides what it does best on . Your breeder should supply you with a puppy booklet on diet, worming & all things related to the pup & simple breed queries. Ideally you should also contact your breeder first off for any issues so they get a chance to deal with issues before you get confused We send our diet sheets out a week before or give it to the new owners on there last visit so they can get the food & any basics before pup comes home. We encourage our new owners to discuss diet with us & if any issues to phone us as no matter what nsome advice isn't always from people who understand the breed or any special needs & can create issues . Many breeders also guarantee there pups for certain health issues on feeding there diet or contacting them if there are issues & discussing a good suitable alternative . Maybe send an email off to your breeder asking for a diet sheet so you can get the food ready . Many breeders will feed diets other people may not agree with it doesn't mean there good or bad but a case of its worked well for them & if your happy with there dogs & heealth then clearly the diet is working well . -
I have pups flown from East often & never had an issue with them adjusting here . I don't see the point of getting them unless there was an issue . A good puppy should be allowed to settle in its own way

There are plenty of good crates in Perth City Farmers sell wire crates which are good (have owned some of there s for over 16 years now. The dog shop at the Canine sells good ones too as would Better pet & gardens .

They don't need pills unless they get car sick . Just use common sense when traveling ,if traveling in summer leave early ,make sure there are window shades but good travelers travel well . Just ensure you have water, bowl & poo bags in the car .

You don't need to stop every 2 hrs on the drive just for the dogs .If they are asleep & comfy just leave them & keep driving. I have done that trip often & we stop once ,twice if required & thats usually combined with a petrol stop the dogs are curled up asleep so we sooner just get to the other end thnt stop get them out try to resettle & then the trip takes forever & they get more feed up & everyone tired . When we stop we haven't picked up anything & i don't flea/tick treat . I would suggest discussing heartworm with your current vet & get there records if there is a history , Make sure there tags have a contact number & if microchipped don't forget to change the details .
