  1. I clip my guys all year round about every 6 - 8 weeks but I do find they are much happier in summer with short coats. I don't find any difference in coat type or texture from one clip to another.

  7. We have bell hanging on the door and to teach we tapped paw on bell then out to the loo. Did this about 3 times and my girl just caught on, the next night she was ringing it on her own. My OH was shocked she picked it up so fast. I think the biggest thing to teaching the ring is make sure the dog needs to go so they make the association between the ring and the out to toilet, hope that makes sense. I never used treats to teach any of mine toileting. The bell doesn't get Rang for anything other than toileting apart from the occasional ring by Tully to let me know the cat wants to come in I used this method for one of mine as she didn't indicate she wanted to go out and would sit by the door and if I was in another room and didn't see her sitting there she would wee at the door. The other 3 ring the bell now too but never taught they just caught on from Tully using it. Give it a go what have you got to lose, I swear by it, especially good for the middle of the night if one needs to go out, they ring the bell and I wake up. Too easy!

(photos later) We have braved the shops today to do our xmas food shopping, boy the money you can spend on a few things for xmas, over $300 just for xmas day food things just keep on getting more expensive! Not much you can do about it I guess. Pandii, I spotted you guys in the car park (not sure if you seen me) and thought ah ha at least I'm not the only one crazy enough to brave the shops!!

  14. They keep changing the age on me, when I first started looking into this it was 12 months, then when I was contacting them about it they said 14 months (even though the website still said 12 months) and now its 18 months... I thought that was strange too, when I first looked into it it was definatley 12 months. Might be worth giving them a call, maybe they have changed the rules?

  17. We have a very similar program at our obedience school, it's called the well behaved dog program. All of the above mentioned things plus a couple more are what the dog needs to do to pass the test. On completion the dog gets a certificate and a medallion saying well behaved dog. After the dog completes the well behaved program they start classes which are more involved. It is a great way to get the dogs generally well behaved. We don't put a time limit on ours to complete, some dogs need longer than others, for example my older 3 had complete the course by around 4 - 6 weeks but my youngest was 2 years before he finally passed, as he wouldn't do the out of site stay without going nuts, i hadn't tested for a while (as im usually instructing) so had him tested for the pass and he just decided he would be good and we passed I'm sure like us other obedience schools must have similar programs to the CGC. Did you check out the Delta site for info on therapy dogs?
