  1. the turbine head cant get into the little spaces. I haven't found it very good at all even on flatter areas.
  2. You are not alone there Kirislin.... most people mis-identify snakes. I have people tell me they have a huge (HUGE!!) Brown Snake in their yard, only to find a 3' Copperhead Snake. The thing is, some snakes vary so much in color too.... where we live a Copperhead can a lovely red and orange color, or as dark as charcoal with a pale belly. To anyone inexperienced they would appear to be very different species of snake. I think this is one of the most important reasons why people should not try to catch/kill a snake themselves, because chances are they don't even know what it is! This is important in other states (other than Vic, Tas etc) where Pythons abound. Often completely harmless, beautiful snakes are hacked to death because someone "feared for their life", assuming it was a venomous snake. the copperhead I caught here with my barbeque tongs was almost black and with a cream belly from memory. It had markings I've never seen before, on its neck, reminded me of the markings on a cobra, looked almost like an omega sign. I only knew it was a copperhead because I saw a photo of one with the same markings shortly after at Healesville sanctuary.
  3. How do you get dog hair out of car carpets and upholstery? I've got a dyson and it's making lots of noise but not showing much in the way of results. I'm trying to give my car a really really good clean and all I'm getting is a sore back and hot 'n sweaty. I'm going to try rubbing a damp cloth over it to see if that works, but if anyone's got any brilliant ideas, please tell me now.
  4. I've got one but it doesn't fit very well in my sliding door, perhaps because my house is 30 years old or so. There's a gap big enough for spiders and cold drafts to get through and the latch didn't match up with my door so I had to rig up another type of lock. That said, it's fantastic for the dogs as before I had it I was getting up at least 10 times a night to let them out to the toilet.
  5. I looked up Victorian snakes on the Museum of Vic site and the RBB and some forms of the copperhead look almost identical to me. I doubt very much that I could tell them apart.
  6. He's coping really well. They look like great buddies too, it made me smile to watch them playing.
  7. I wouldn't have thought it would taste appealing to a dog, unless they're like mine that eat anything.
  8. Take the Pointer out of the crate and put the Shih Tzu in it. They can alternate between being contained or outside. Yep, this sounds like a good idea.
  9. I had a large copperhead close to my kitchen door a few years back. I called a friend to come round, just in case I got bitten. I got a large plastic bucket with a lid, I put on my long gum boots, big leather gauntlets and got some long handled barbeque tongs. I just picked the snake up and put it in the bucket and plonked the lid on. Then I took it up the road to the national park and let it go. I dont suppose you could do something like that could you?
  10. Pity you cant send it to the neighbours place. They'd probably just kill it though
  11. their normal food plus, someone stole an egg from the chickens, not sure who, and all probably ate some chook poo. One or two might have sneaked some chook food as well. Kibah had some banana, I know Puck pulled an unripe apple from the tree, it was my last pink lady
  12. "We" being my dogs and I know a boxer at the park. She is very friendly and gentle but gushy. She wants to lick all the dogs faces whether they want it or not, and although they're now used to her, when they first saw her face they were afraid. I think they couldn't recognise her expression. They were the same with their first shar pei. Those dogs with lots of folds seem to confuse them.
  13. My nephew, actually, he might be my great nephew, or is it grand, or it could just be a new kind of mushroom, fungi cutealiciosa. 5F6A4139 by kirislin, on Flickr
  14. He's really showing off his "happieness" isn't he.
  15. wow what a view!! is this from your little stone cottage? I love it.
  16. this looks like a bread roll with teeth!
  17. Only go hands free if you have it slung across your shoulder, not hanging off your right shoulder, on your right side, assuming you have all the fittings done up correctly it cannot fall then.
  18. I cannot stop thinking about Buddy and you. It's been on my mind all day. I am so sorry, it was a horrible way for him to die, and so preventable. Poor sweet Buddy.
  19. generations of mixed breeds, a heinz 57 varieties.......at least
  20. this is just sickening. I feel ill and cannot imagine how distraught you must be right now. I am so sorry for you and Buddy. You are not the one who should be feeling guilty about this though. I have a friend who runs a grooming business and she would NEVER tie a dog up with a choker chain to start with, but never leaves dogs on the table unattended. What a terrible thing to do.
