  1. congrats on your new camera. Have fun with it, I am sure you will.
  2. No, I think coir is from the coconut palm and cocoa mulch is from the same plant that chocolate comes from.
  3. stunning! every single photo, I thought ooh I love that! and then I'd see the next one, and think the same.
  4. Loving all the pics but I had to laugh at this one, sounds like you're ordering a coffee. Can I have a double yoda ears with a shot of goofy please.
  5. Thanks guys. they grow out in the open but it's quite a moist clayey soil. Lots of sphagnum moss grows here. I've seen another kind of sundew that grows near my dam but this one is further up the hill and I've never noticed it before. It's very tiny and discreet. I first noticed it a couple of days ago and went back today to take some pics. I had a bit of trouble finding it again. Here's the kind that grows near the dam. I think I used a different lens for this pic. Might go back tomorrow with the macro.
  6. They're really tiny too. Lucky I've got the macro lens. They were taken just using natural light too.
  7. I've discovered a 2nd species of sundew in my paddock. I suppose I shouldn't really be pleased, it's a sign of very poor pasture I think. That's why the plants have to resort to eating meat! Look at its little tentacles
  8. I had a play around with a tripod and live view today, much sharper. this is just a little weed.
  9. do you know of an off lead park that is still safely fenced, or some other large area she's not too familiar with, so it's exciting for her, but still safe in case she doesn't come back that you could practice with. I've trained mine to come to a sports whistle. I'd say they're about 90% reliable. I still have to be careful with when and where I let them off.
  10. I love how the dogs just glow but you really are the one who takes the most gorgeous nature photos. Every single one of these flower pics is a work of art.
  11. My friend who bought my 400D went looking for camera bags and nearly flipped when she saw how much they cost so she ended up buying a lunch box, the type with a hard plastic insert inside and I think she bought some foam and customised it for her own needs. She mostly uses the camera for taking footy pics though, she doesn't use it other than that.
  12. are you sure that's the full story? It seems strange that the rspca would refuse to help animals with no food or water. :D Can you go and pick up her animals from her house. I think there must be more to this story that she is not telling you, cause it just doesn't make sense.
  13. He's gorgeous. The background in the first pic is a bit distracting. That's when a shallow depth of field can really make the pic.
  14. anyone know what this flower is called. I bought it a couple of years ago and it was supposed to be black. This is the first time it's flowered and I wouldn't call it black but I love it anyway. I think it's amazing and gorgeous. and even a bit sexy, especially when it's rotated like this
  15. why, what's wrong with the one you have. what do you want it to do that your current one cant?
  16. Frodos mum, are these with the new camera and lens? they're fantastic!!
  17. I treated mine with cheese when I trained them to the whistle. You have to find something the dog really loves and every time you blow that whistle, she gets a yummy, every single time. I now have to avoid sports days though because every time the umpire blows the whistle my dogs expect a treat, and I have to give it to them or they'll start to ignore my whistle. Yep. No matter who I'm calling with the whistle, every dog is treated when it is blown. Every time. Yep, same here. There's even another lady at the park who started using it after seeing the success I had with mine, now everytime she blows her whistle, I have to treat mine. It has it's drawbacks like that but it's still worth it to get such good recall now.

  19. My whippets were only trained in the last year to come to the whistle (sports). They're pretty good now although if something really gets them excited it's hard to call them off. Here they are coming to the whistle up at the off lead park.
  20. the 70-300 appeals to me. I'd prefer that over the one I have.
  21. thanks for showing them. I wouldn't have known a flash had been used in any of those shots.
  22. Oi you watch it. why should that stop me anyway.
