  1. Still not sure. Cam is metting me after and I'm going to try and get some shots of the dogs in the city. I'll prob just get him to bring it with him. Take yours if you want! Im sure lots of others will. I pretty much have to take mine with me as I cant leave it in the car. My camera bag often serves as my handbag too these days. I have room for my keys and wallet in there too if I just have the 50mm on it.
  2. What a great Birthday present, you are well loved. Happy Birthday, I am sure it was getting a great new DSLR. Congratulations and welcome to the very unofficial DOL photography club. You're off to a great start, they are very clear and sharp, those gulls are stroppy looking birds aren't they.
  3. That's the cutest funniest thing I've seen since I dont know when. I wish they were mine.
  4. OMG! Ride 'em cowboy, or should that be catbird.
  5. You've had me in stitches here, they are so funny, there's Dad, sound asleep and those two very cute clowns are wrestling on him, and the look on his face when he wakes up like "what the hell??" too funny The cat and bird are just amazing too, that they play together like that. You could take a video of that and send it into funniest home videos, I reckon you'd win the car for sure.
  6. From what everyone says it looks like I cant get that effect from the 50mm and the distance I was at. It doesn't matter, it was really just a spur of the moment thing when she ran at the birds, not much I could've changed in the circumstances.
  7. Wow Tess. Just stunning. Breaks your heart to think of these animals all being endangered in the wild, and the awful things that are done to them. You've really captured their souls. I hope the photos will still be on display when we get there. Congratulations to all the DOL winners too.
  8. yep - I'm leaving home about 8:40 - catch the 9:18 from Frangers (lets hope it arrives). Gets in to Flinders St at 10:25, then I'll walk to "wherever" - must check the map again! I'm really nervous this is going to cost me a lot more $'s that I really don't need to spend OK, so it looks like you'll be there around 11ish. I will drive in part way and then catch the 109 tram (I think) What if we say we will meet somewhere at 11.30ish. But where, since we dont know what is there. edit You were posting at the same time as me. I dont know if I can get there by 11. Bec. Can you call back by the Canon site at 11.30 too?
  9. Are you in Victoria or Qld? If you are in Qld shouldn't you contact that states board?
  10. aahh another discerning intelligent dog owner!
  11. Oh no, I let out an audible gasp when I saw that, and then I giggled......sorry couldn't help it.
  12. Oh good, I'm glad it's not just me.
  13. Urban fragments. Not my idea, I saw some amazing photos on POTN http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=737713
  14. Yes, worded perfectly.
  15. What sort of dog is Tango. When you put the coat on him the reason he went wiggly is it might have been tickling him or possibly become a bit static. Mine actually do that when they want me to take their coats OFF. Is he crate trained? If so a way around his cold at night issue might be to just place a heavy blanket over the top of his crate. He wont be encumbered with clothes but the crate will hold much more heat in without any blankets actually on his "person"
  16. I think there was a thread about problems/concerns about petfood247. Perhaps, do a search before you order from them. Di Can you please delete your quote and I will remove the original reference, thankyou for the warning.
  17. Fingers crossed the last one is found safe but I am not feeling optimistic about that at all I hope they ramp up their security so it's like Fort Knox from now on.

  19. It is a bit of a lump but it's worth it for the heat.
  20. Oh yes, they're notorious counter surfers, the tall ones will just stand on their hind legs but the littler ones will just float up onto the counter and walk around helping themselves. Both Feather and Kibah do this if I go out and forget to lock them out of the kitchen. They've broken a number of glasses and plates like this which is always a worry when they jump onto the floor. So far mine haven't cut themselves.
  21. I've currently got 5 and I've had whippets since 1985. There's a few different personality types, some are quite outgoing and some are reserved. I've got some of both. One of my boys is a bit of a bully with timid dogs and if given the chance, will try to make them run so he can chase them. I have to be careful with him these days to make sure he cant do it. He himself is the biggest coward though and easily gets frightend of dogs chasing him. Both he, his brother and mum all love people. My little blue girls only love people they already know. Generally they are very loving gentle dogs with people. If brought up with cats from the time they are puppies they are usually OK but my current ones would kill a cat, I have no doubt. One thing all whippets hate is cold. If you believe dogs should sleep outside, dont get a whippet, unless of course you have a really good warm set up in kennels but even then, they like to be with you so they'd fret outside on their own. When you go lure coursing are there whippets there? If so talk to their owners and see what they say about them.
  22. I dont see why you cant do that. She might not care but who knows, it might at least bring a smile to her face to know a dog she bred has brought so much joy. She might have bred so many litters and become jaded by now but at least YOU can be a good owner, the kind that caring breeders would hope the sell their puppies to. I sent Kibahs breeder a photo of her on her 10th birthday. I haven't heard back from him but some people are just like that. I think the previous year I said something along the lines of I just wanted you to know how loved she is, and he wrote back and said of course! I know she is. He's just happy to know she's in a good home, he doesn't need to keep hearing about it I suppose, even though I want to keep telling him.
  23. Mine's on my lower back right now, mmmmmm toasty warm
