Have a look at buying OS, with our strong Aussie $$ now it really makes a huge difference. here's just one example, obviously you'd need to speak to/email them yourself, I am not recommending you buy this camera, just suggesting you consider online OS as well as retail, which would probably be close to double this price. http://www.adorama.com/ICADRXSIBK.html Current exchange rate makes that 599.95US camera around 646Aust. Of course there'd be postage and insurance on top of that and possibly currency conversion charges but it's still cheaper than buying it here.

Before you buy have a look around. This is definitely one I'd consider buying from the US. Price them here and then look online. I bought mine 2nd hand privately from the US through a photography forum and I got a good lens, but that might be too risky for you. You can get it through reputable companies like Adorama online and I am sure it will be alot cheaper than buying it from a retail shop here. I dont think you'll get slugged duty because it's under $1000.

the lenses that came with mine are pretty ordinary especially the 75-300. the 18-55 was OK but I find I just dont use it now. You might be perfectly happy with them but I wanted to be able to capture running shots of my whippets and those two lenses were never fast enough. For everyday type things they're OK though so they might suit you, plus I think the kit lenses they sell now are better than mine anyway. If you want to take shots of your dog in low light you might need a better lens, one with a lower f/stop which means it has a larger aperture and so allows more light in,which enables you to get the photo without having to leave the shutter open for ages, cause that means BLUR!

you can buy a camers with an all round/general purpose type lens or maybe even 2 lenses in a kit, which is how I got my 400D (a lesser model than what you're looking at) or you can just buy the body and get a lens separately, which is how I'd do it if I could do it over again.

have a look here, all these pics are with that lens. I love it. http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...=166191&hl= all these are taken with the macro too. these ones are through photobucket so not as sharp, not what you normally imagine a macro for but I happened to be passing by and it was the only lens I had.

Not even sure if you could buy a 40D new, might only be got 2nd hand now but it's supposed to be a very good camera.

I wonder if that's what Uncle Fester looked like as a baby

I loved yours Beck but I scrolled through a few pages and couldn't find your lovers. I think it would be very hard to submit something that was noticed, it's a bit like a lottery, just so many entries, you've got to be very lucky, as well as submit a very good entry, to win.

I would love to capture a bee in flight, haven't succeeded yet. Seems creatures need to be a bit slower for me.

Is there a way to scroll through them without having to individually open and close each photo you want to see?

I'm scared of Rotties, I'm scared of Rotties falling into the hands of Irresponsible owners who know nothing about them and keep them on a chain and dump them at the pound when they can't handle them. If this dog bites someone, the whole breed gets the blame. I feel very sorry for you, to judge a breed on the actions of three individuals. this is the reason I've avoided adding to this thread until now. I imagine that if I got bitten three times by a certain breed I'd be wary too - Krislin didn't say that she hated them, supported BSL etc etc, she just said she was *wary*. I don't walk very closely to larger dogs that I don't know. I don't hate them either, but I don't know the owner so would like a bit of distance in case they lunge. I'd do the same for little dogs but they can't inflict the same injury on me. Thankyou for reading my post Megan! I haven't actually been bitten, but 3 rotties I've met,( and not just once, I knew all of their owners, )have behaved in a dominant or threatening manner to either me or my dogs. Like I said I am wary of them. I can see they're extremely intelligent dogs, and I am sure if I had one on my side I would feel very protected by it, but I prefer my whippets thanks and I will continue to be guarded around Rotties.
-
I am wary of Rotties but it's got nothing to do with newspapers, it's from my own experience with them, and not just a one off, 3 so far.

hahaha great idea, no, I only met her yesterday, she came to my house along with her little friend and friends dad. I wanted to take more pics of her but the other girl expected to be in the photo too.

What about taking some where he's not looking at the camera. Has he got a hobby, is it one where he'd be sitting still doing it. Could you photograph him like that.

did they tie in that photo you took? If they did, or if they have recently an emergency visit to the vet might be in order.

wow, all beautiful but I especially love the seed head one and the silouhette but I agree, it needs to be straight. -
Dont forget though, you still need to buy a card and postage and insurance will be added on as well, but that would be the same with buying from ebay as well. I'd rather buy off cameras direct than ebay. They very helpful if you ring too.

Poor little things. It will be good when she's all clipped off and cleaned up. Is she is season?
