It's not the flea treatment or anything like that. Hence my question. If you pat and feel his coat, dig your fingers in ect he feels oily. You feel an oily coating in your fingers. But when you run your hands under a tap it feels slippery like you are using detergent. It washes off very easily unlike oil. It feels like running your hands under a tap with soap or hand wash but there is no handwash.

Weird question, One of my dogs has an oily coat.(undercoat really, the top is bristley) At least, it feels oily on your hands after patting him. Yet when I wash my hands the "oil" feels slippery and soapy minus the suds. It's not residue from washing him but why does it feel like that? Google had no suggestions

Bwa ha ha haaaaaaaa. If only desexing did that for mine  as for "decreased performance in concentration tasks such as obedience training and decreased physical ability in dog sports" it's a shiba, come what may in regards to.... oh look! shiney thing over there!.......... Obviously my two shiba are boys so I can't help you with how it goes with a girl

Loki is a 10 year old Shiba inu which is getting on a bit for the breed (12-15 years average)Apart from seasonal allergies which render him bald for a month or two each year and developing cataracts he is fine. His slow loss of eyesight led to massive anxiety issues and a whole heap of other fun things including food guarding and freaking out at nightime/thunderstorms ect. We have worked with this and he is fed seperately and has a nightlight when it gets dark and has made a huge difference to his mindset. But I want to know what to look for now. He has a vet check once a year when vaccinated. Everything comes up clear and his teeth are good. But should he be getting a more thorough check up? Are there certain tests that are standard for the oldies? Should there be things the vet needs to be looking at now?

I think they were good at something... *cue banjo music*

I had an ex with webbed feet... Both sides of his family had them. Only in Tasmania

I think I saw that movie.... :D

Yes, I did. Are there othere videos? I saw a blob running towards a white/black blob and lots of wiggling/struggling. Quite frankly they may have been fending off a rabid wombat for al I saw...? How can you pick breed let alone species?

Dosen't take much to bite a leg down to the bone, depending on where abouts on the leg. Have a feel on your shin, the skin there is only a few millimeters thick.

I didn't ask cost I just asked about how big before it has to come off. He is only around 10, 11 kilos so hopefully wont cost me as much as a bernese! Wish the knot method would work on mine. He wiggles like there is no tommorrow so that would never work. I can barely touch it without him squirming about.

Reading with interest as one of my boys has developed one on his eyelid. Vet said it will have to come off before it gets too big due to location (not enough skin to stitch together) and he will have to be put under apparently.

http://www.launceston.tas.gov.au/lcc/?c=46 Launceston has a two dog limit. Look up West Tamar, East Tamar or Meander Vally councils for info on their dog limits. They are the surrounding areas out of Launceston. You can get a permit for more in Lonnie but it costs a bit, forgot how much.

Border Collie Needing A Home
cannibalgoldfish replied to cannibalgoldfish's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Sadly the dog is in limbo. My sister (primary care giver, hubbie works all day) hates him and he is tied up all day. She told me "I keep letting him out the gate and hope he will run away but the stupid thing keeps coming back" When I pointed out that should he cause an accident she remembered he is chipped in the husbands name (in other words, " oh well, he can pay the fine"). So sadly, she can't give him away without him and he wont say yes I passed on NQanimalrescues details to her if she can talk the hubbie round. I really hope they do. -
Isn't there new lines of research to suggest feral cats have been here longer than one thought? Perhaps predating European settlement?
-
Slightly off topic but interesting, these are the colours shibas are found in as well, right down to often shareing a black mask as pups :D

Any home really! My little sister gave in to the hubby on his claim that the kids need a dog. He had a border collie growing up and so should his kids... He insisted they get a dog for his son, who had just turned two, oh, and my sister had just had another baby... So... we can see what has happened. Now they are my sister is looking for a home for the dog. Basically we have a 15 month old border collie, naturally un desexed, no training whatsoever and bought from a " breeder" The poor thing is all over the shop. No training, no hope. She lives in Townsville. I have been watching this lovely train wreck for the last few months. Please, She want's to find a home for it. If there is a working dog/border collie rescue around there, this is an accident waiting to happen. More info, if I can get it, please PM)

and nutjob shibas :D (thanks to Wikipedia)Recent DNA analysis confirms that this Asian spitz-type dog is one of the oldest dog breeds, dating back to the 3rd century BC. (At the moment, one of mine looks this old too! )

I don't quite get what you mean? Your last dog sounds as much as a crossbreed as these, what's the difference?
-
What if there was no problems mentally or any tumour found?
-
*runs off to google* Ohhhhh. But, still the same problem of very low numbers? At least sesame coloured shiba are here and not a big dog handful :D
-
Orrrrr, you could avoid any restrictions, purebreed issues and have a dog that looks big in a small package and get......... A shiba inu! A breed dating back to the 3rd century BC, and comes in sesame colour (taken from the internet)

Remember, sometimes having two girls doesn't work out. Can you keep them apart permanently in the future if it came down to it?

Not world domination, just the street, maybe the bext block over. Possibly that park across town too..... I
