  1. Bring up current laws and legal things... Bring up how dogs are a 'product' and if any pups end up with a genetic condition that isn't tested by the breeder in contract(this works in breeder health testing) Or serious health defect that might cause problems they might be liable. To be honest, you don't have to be read up and savy on the breed. You just need to say people can be sued if certain health issues (add breed specific)aren't tested for.. Sue and liable seem to be good words to bring byb back to earth.... .
  2. My old dear will sometimes lift his leg to poop then there is the times where he poops normally then pees over it straight after while still squatting... Ok, so he has canine toilet etiguette issues......
  3. One of mine has peed on the other but accidentally,(I hope!)My younger dog often pees over the older dogs pee. My old boy dithers about with the fairies when taking a piddle and the younger one will sometimes get a bit too impatient and pee over it before the old guy has finished, sometimes splashing him
  4. No, your chi is a freaky mutant... send it to me before my neck gets cold incase it, er, savages your spleen in the night.
  5. Off the tragic topic but... Why would you adopt a dog you could not control? Even without having small children this seems like a seriously bad idea... Even if you found out it was too strong for you after you adopted it, why would you keep it????
  6. I'm surprised they didn't have one before? It's not like a police dog had never been injured before now.
  7. This is why whenever my dogs are at the vet for any reason (like vaccs) I ask them to scan them to check the details are right and the chip hasn't moved.
  8. I can only claim a Dol education here :D I have two boys with very different personalities. My "Mr issues whimpy the world is gonna end" boy and my "Mr teflon everyone loves me,whatever" boy. It was only when they were boarded for the first time I found out Mr complex was fine, he lives in his own mind and Mr Happy happy joyjoy was the one who had a break down when taken out of his family circle. It was a huge eye-opener and made me realise you don't really know your dogs until something happens to make you realise, er, you don't really know your dogs...
  9. It could be another dog and you get blamed for it?? I only commented because when I recently moved my weirdos added more tricks to their big box of weird....
  10. That reminds me of another weird thing since moving. One of my boys gets bored with toys within seconds. It's like "Hey Wow! a new toy!!!!!! wait, bored now" yet since we moved we gave him a new toy bribe and it's now his favourite thing ever. In the past all toys were surgically disemboweled within a day but now his new Mr squeaky monkey is the best thing ever!!!!!!!! He hasn't killed it at all! He even sleeps with it! Yeah, weird behaviour after moving....
  11. It could be the move bringing things out? I recently moved out of the place I'd been in for over ten years and both dogs (who have only known the old house) have shown slightly different behaviours. One of them actually makes a different kind of bark in the evening when he wants in, which is weird..... So it could be Sarah, new house, more things to be "alerted " by?
  12. Not a problem for me. My pets, I keep them. If my partner wants a pet, he can get one. We can share in it's life together but if he goes, he rightfully owns his pet. We are planning on getting another cat one day but who ever pays for it owns it. Which will be me :D
  13. and you just to look at how many off lead dogs you see in these areas to see how much actual enforcing the council actually does...
  14. In the same conversation, the same co worker went to add how several of her friends have labradoodles and the ones she met were all freaky and psycho... Which apparently was because they were "pure breds"......
  15. A new co worker was recently telling me about her dog. He is a staffy and has cost her thousands in vet fees because of allergies and bad knee joints. She tells me she is "never buying a purebred dog every again!, crossbreeds are so much more healthier" When asked about where she got her dog? "From Gumtree, his mum was a staffy, they didn't know what his dad was..."
  16. He won't have a problem getting rid of them. Thanks to all this publicity there will be people lining up to "save" them.....
  17. I was just about to ask that all shibas listen and be responsive.... I'd love to own a shiba I could rely on to stay or drop when I asked, not when they felt like it.... Won't work. Dingos are an introduced species. What we need is for them to be declared a natural monument of Australia. For example, "In December 1936, the Shiba Inu was recognized as a Natural Monument of Japan through the Cultural Properties Act," Dingos need the same thing. Yes, they would have to be brought in and bred to a standard but it would keep them alive as a breed, which wont happen as they stand today.
  18. Wait...? rajacodoo, don't you have experience with shibas somewhere down the traps? Or am I imagining it somehow? (when we talk about weird noises and all...."
  19. Annnd dog attack word of the year "mastiff" gets another outing.... What, pit bulls too boring these days?
  20. Oh no As soon as I saw the name I thought "not Mr Wilson!" I'm very sorry for your loss.
  21. He is a shiba. Even if he did hear it, if there wasn't anything in it for him he would just play deaf..... :D
  22. In Tassie we only have ravens, not crows. But people still call them crows. Best way to make a Tasmanian zoologist explode? Call a raven a crow
  23. I had this problem a few years back because my front lawn grew too long (yes, really) The neighbour complained over and over to the council about my dogs barking all day (Step 1, they are shibas, they don't bark much, they scream/yodel)Council came out to check about 5 times, all the times my dogs were asleep. In fact, they didn't even bark at the strange man walking up to the gate. (Memo to future shiba owners, not big on the whole guard dog thing...) The guy from council was fine and ignored all complaints from my neighbour after that. Er, she passed away a few months later, so that doesn't help at all....
  24. I changed vets a while back. I recently had to take one of my boys in to get a lump looked at/removed. . This included knocking out my dog (around 11 kilos if that helps)removing a rapidly growing thingy that went from a small bump to a big festy goo ridden lump in less than a week... Apparently said lump was in a bad place and vet told me it would destroy his tear duct. The vet decided that while Boxhead was out he might remove a wart that was growing happily on his eye lid. So, they burnt off a wart on his eye lid,and cut out his lump, which luckily had't grown into his tear duct and was apparently pretty good in the way of lumps (It was "encapsulated') Basically, at the end of the day I paid around $150? that included the original vet consultation the day before and the surgery the next day. I was in shock a little...... Expected it to cost me far more...........
