  1. Easy fix. Don't let him. I have an annoying dog. He would love to jump all over and harass other dogs. He is bouncey and a pain in the butt playful. I've tried to stop it for years and he has toned it down a bit but his behaviour was rude to other dogs so I don't let him. Simple as that. It really isn't an issue, if your dog has no manners when meeting other dogs then hold him back and don't let him jump on them.
  2. Oh... this thread reminds me that most of my pets chip addresses are out of date.. Do they ring the mobile number recorded?
  3. Sigh..... I know. This time of year the birds start to fledge and flutter about. Wylie has all the best trees staked out Sorry, off topic...
  4. Shiba? Creams in particular, which are a fault but do crop up and go to pet homes.
  5. Nothing stopping the person coming back and just taking the dog, even if you do end up buying or otherwise keeping it. After all, they know where you live....
  6. Shiba inu? If you have very good fences it could work? They are alert and intelligent and not the kind of dog that is everyone's friend... Also they can be a pain in the arse. But they can be worth it. They are a spitz breed so training can take a bit of effort...
  7. Now I keep thinking about the Fairy Wogdog from Watership down....
  8. My dogs are gannets, and will eat everything and anything.... UNLESS they know the food is a bribe. *damn spitz and the evil satanic cogs that chugg about in their heads....*
  9. Feel free to smuggle me home a couple :D
  10. Nah, cats are fine! I mean things like guinea pigs, chickens ect. Prey animals, not cats. My cats boss the dogs around :D
  11. They will give your friend grey hairs :D (and plenty of shiba hairs as well..) Mine cost $800 on limited, and the other $1000 on main, but that was over 10 years ago, I expect it's gone up now? Just a heads up, I'm sure they have done their research but shibas are not friendly to small furry or feathery critters. High prey drive with the small edible things Also, very good fences needed. One of my little sods easily climbed 6 foot fences in his more nimble days. (now he just climbs on the couch :D )
  12. Ever looked into reptiles? albino mutations are the best bucks of all
  13. I don't have that book! The one I have is smaller. The lay out is almost the same though. :D
  14. But what is this book called? The bits you showed look quite nice! and familiar.... I have a feeling I might own that book... *off to rummage*
  15. If I ever got bored with mad shibas I'd think about getting a vallhund :D (and by "bored" I mean, the temptation to strangle the little buggers gets to overwhelming  )
  16. Shikoku :D http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shikoku_%28dog%29 Although maybe not, I have heard they can be a bit of a handful.. Shibas are bad enough
  17. I think what I was musing was you can up grade, registerwise, but not down grade?. You can breed a limited register dog all you want but you can't register the pups. But if you have a mains dog who failed the grade, nothing is stopping you from being able to register the pups (you know, if both parents are, ect)right?
  18. *just musing here* What about the dogs sold on Main that don't quite shape up to standard when they are fully grown. Obviously they wouldn't do well being shown but the owner could still breed them because they are on Mains? I know for the betterment of the breed they shouldn't be bred but I guess there is nothing stopping people? (no contract or anything right?) Ok, odd thought for the day...
  19. Awww! (Sleeping dane photo) I've got a boy who cocks his leg for number twos.... :D It gets a bit awkward, especially when he then pees all over it. You know, because picking up dog poo isn't fun enough.... introducing.... soggy poo! With extra pee!!
  20. Friends of mine had 2 dogs, a Bouvier des flandres and a 13 year old Border collie. The BC was deaf and going blind and just started to "shut down" She had no intrest in anything and went down hill. No obvious reasons (vet checked her over) She just got sad and depressed and basically gave up. They decided she was on her way out and thought they should get a new pup before she went, to help the other dog adjust to a new pup so they got a Rottie pup.... The BC was so very offended by having a young pup in her house she rallied forth and started to get up and go about her business. Total turn around... She lived for another 4 years, I believe :D I'm not saying thaat getting a new dog will help, but I have seen it do wonders :D
