  1. fat lot of good security camera's will do if the theives are unknown or can't be recognised. Bye bye pups and maybe adult dogs as well, never to be seen again. Even if the theives are caught what are the chances of you getting your dogs back? And as for having a large, not friendly dog, you have to be kidding don't you, there's even more trouble waiting to bite some one on the arse, not to mention people are already restricted on how many dogs they can keep. One of my dogs saw the vet for the 1st time in 3 years recently, another hasn't seen a vet for at least 4. No need for them to. Can't believe this rubbish has come from you Souff.
  2. Excuse my ignorance, please, but what do you mean exactly by they should have culled? I'm not stirring, genuinely interested if it means what I think it does I would have them put down at birth if I didn't abort the bitch. ETA I would keep 2 to keep the bitch happy.
  3. pups are sold but they shouldn't be going at 6 weeks. And personally, if they didn't want to abort the litter in case it mucked up the bitch for future breeding I think they should have culled.
  4. Ovens Valley Canine Club, Vic, is offering all neuter classes at their shows in April 2001. As show secretary I am happy to accept any donations of sashes for classes or group. I am donating Best Neuter in Show
  5. set an alarm, I've done that with all my pups, it is only for a very short while.
  6. sorry for the loss of your beautiful boy. I have used rimadyl with no problems so far but I have also read that labs are in the high risk catergory for reactions to it. This was years ago when it 1st came out.
  7. sometimes it doesn't matter what you do things don't turn out right. You seem to be a caring doggy person, don't let the hurdles with this little dog hold you back
  8. I have a mongeral and I don't care if she is called that cause that is what she is.
  9. seperate beds is what I would do, your smaller/older dog is the instigator in all of this, instead of the couch she will most likely try and guard both beds.
  10. The only problem might be this part. My boy is 35kg and quite big and he likes to walk for about 15 minutes optimally, but occasionally we will take him for a 30 minute walk and thats totally enough for him. The other night after a 30 minute walk he wanted to sleep in preference to eating his dinner he was that tired! If we wanted to walk him for an hour, he'd be knackered! Does anyone have a grey that walks for an hour? mine would if I did and I have a friend whose greys regularly did an hour every day when they were younger. They are now seniors so the walks aren't as long.
  11. even 40 kilo big boy greyhounds can curl up quite small
  12. mine can't wait for me to finish my apple so they can have the core. I am not at all worried about the seeds.
  13. on the bed with me or on one of their couches
  14. get a piece of cheap lino or put a tarp down under the crate, it's what I did to protect the carpet from a litter who I had in the lounge room.
  15. c-section so whelped at the vets, then went to the the lounge room, whelping box to start with then bunnings special :D
  16. just have to say well done to the club and exhibitors alike. I had my dogs down at the grounds for a run this morning and if I didn't know better would have had no idea there was 2 days of showing just completed. Grounds stood up well and not a bit of rubbish, or dog poop, to be seen within the confines of the dog club grounds. Well done to all. :D
  17. it has rained most of the day and is still raining, grp 5 is in ring 4, closest to the river. From the club house down it is ring 1, ring 2, a place to set up gazebo's in the middle then ring 3, then ring 4. I went down at lunch time and saved a couple of spots in the middle bit, so we will be able to see all rings. I got so wet I had to go home and change before heading back to work! Even if it doesn't rain it will be wet under foot.
  18. I had calcium, glucose and oxytocin on hand ready for Fern but she had a c-section so wasn't needed. I will have all 3 ready next time and use the calcium and glucose as a matter of course with the oxy as back up.
  19. it's a long way off but Ovens Valley, Vic will be including neuter classes in April 2011
  20. the question was watch dog, not guard. Mine have excellent temperaments and are excellent watch dogs. Anybody can pat them but they bark if someone comes to the house.
  21. do not underestimate what they are, very fast sight hounds driven by prey drive, who also happen to be very laid back, calm and loving. I have show bred greyhounds with no race blood in them, 2 out of the 3, are very keen and would certainly hunt if given the chance, yet they all live with my 3 cats.
