Lure Coursing - Photos Added
CrazyCresties replied to CrazyCresties's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
Great, thanks Kirislin :D What is the minimum shutter speed you use? I'll post if any are in focus  -
Kirislin - I'm going to a lure coursing fun day in Perth on Sunday. Can I pick your brains for some photography tips please :D I plan on using my 150-600, but will also take my 70-200. Advice welcome from anyone else too :D Many thanks :)

I can still login with my Google account, if they remove that I will be pissed For sharing with the BBcode you need to click on the pin symbol, not the most intuitive but that's where it is now. I don't mind the new look, I like being able to see basic exif info on the right :)

All the best for Jenna tomorrow, will have everything crossed for you

Gorgeous shot, and your Flickr set of them all are really nice! :) 13/52 A Kookaburra enjoying the first real rain for almost 4 months!

Yup my vet pulled the blood and it spun down, Hemopet sent very clear instructions with regards to this and the packing. I can't remember the cost for that part, it got buried in all the other things I am paying them for  They organised the courier and that cost $120. I got the results so quickly, serum sent of on Tuesday and results on Friday! Hope all the red kids and yourself are keeping well :)

Hemopet (Dr Jean Dodds) charge $52 for their titre testing, of course there are postage fees and vet fees for getting the serum as well. I used them recently as the VetPath results showed Louis had no parvo immunity. Not disputing the VetPath results at all, but also wanted Hemopet's advice after Louis's IMHA. http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/255154-titre-testing/page__st__75 Start from post #90

Thanks Pers :) Got out to the lake today with RV and had a fun time with the lens. Quickly realised the monopod is no good for birds, so ended up handholding the beast for a few hours! Only edited this one so far, hopefully get round to the others tomorrow. Australian Hobby at Herdsman Lake. edit as something about the previous photo edit had been bugging me, now fixed

Skyefool - You have nothing to be ashamed of, perfectly good shots for someone just starting with a DSLR :) Would you pick up a violin for the first time and expect to be able to play like Yehudi Menuhin? Photography takes time to learn, and the beauty of digital is that you can take so many shots and see the result almost instantly. Have a read through this link - it gives a brief overview of the basics with some good examples. http://www.mdavid.com.au/photography/photography101.shtml But basically play and have fun with it - set up a static object and take several photos of it but play with your settings to see how it affects the resulting shot. Post shots on here and ask for advice if you feel like it - I'm far from being a pro, but there are a few of us on here who enjoy photography and can offer some tips. :)

Thanks T :)

Finally edited my shots from the field day at the weekend, so here are a few of them :) Pretty pleased with the lens so far, but have only had the one real outing with it. I'm planning to go to a lake in Perth at the weekend, so should be able to give it a good test with birds. Shooting at 600mm is a steep learning curve, the slightest movement is amplified! I had it on a monopod for the day and it was manageable weight-wise :)

 skyefool. They are gorgeous and a lovely light Pers :) Back in Scotland my daily walk round the lanes with the dogs would take us past the cow fields and barns - some of them had serious attitude problems!

Gorgeous Smiley girl :D

10/52 - Got up at 3:15am to join RV and a bunch of gun dogs on a field day in the middle of nowhere! It was worth it though as it was a very enjoyable day and I got to give my new lens a test run :) 11/52 The Moon. edit as I got my weeks wrong

I got Louis's results back on the 14th, such a quick service from Hemopet and.........he does have immunity :D :D :D Apparently the test they use, ELISA, is more specific and more sensitive that the IFA method hence the different results. I'm glad I sent his sample off, I'm still going to be cautious of where I take him as his immune system has taken a real battering over the past 10 months, but walks around the streets near me should be fine :)
