  1. My babies are all grown up! This is one I've reared from egg to adult, at least I assume they are now adult as one has laid an egg sac of its own, aged 5 months. 4/52 - Net-casting Spider Deinopis sp. 4/52 2014 by HairlessHounds, on Flickr
  2. No help available I'm afraid, it's incurable  S/he is gorgeous A rescue? p.s don't let Pers see this!
  3. He is growing fast and is just gorgeous! His parents are very handsome dogs too :)
  4. Lovely to see some pics of your gorgeous guys :) My Indy is the opposite - whenever I try to sneak a shot of her, even if she is asleep in the garden, she will wake up and always come straight up to me - some freaky cat sense
  5. Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD This is on my shopping list :D It looks like early orders are being received already so looking forward to seeing a good range of sample shots from it. For it's price it has super focal length and looks like a relatively 'cheap' entry lens for birds etc. http://www.tamron-usa.com/news/35mm/150600_A011_dec13.asp http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1013956-REG/tamron_a011_c_sp_150_600mm_f_5_6_3_di.html
  6. In terms of a 'cheap' flash I got the Yongnuo 568ex for $220. Remote wireless control works with my 7D as does the HSS :) If you look on POTN there is a lot of info with regards to the Yongnuo models. http://photography-on-the.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=35 I got mine from hypop and had prompt and excellent service from them :) http://www.hypop.com.au/yongnuo-yn-568ex-high-speed-sync-hss-flash-speedlite-for-canon.html
  7. Beautiful shot gapvic! and love the pose gila :) 3/52 - Little Willie Wagtail 3/52 2014 by HairlessHounds, on Flickr
  8. Thanks RV :) Today is the first day without drugs for the IMHA since it started. Good blood test yesterday so down to eod and hopefully stop altogether in two weeks! Yup taken with my under used 50mm ;)
  9. That sounds pretty funky Pers, and cool shots with it
  10. Louis and Chewy sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G.
  11. I don't know if all cresties are similar, but Louis love his butt rubbed and patted, just on his rump. He will back up to you and do a little wiggle dance with his back legs if you put your hand on there, especially if you aren't rubbing/patting it hard enough
  12. She's beautiful pers, what a gorgeous colour
  13. Nawwww what a snuggly cosy bunch :D
  14. Very nice KA, after 44 degrees here yesterday and a low of 30 overnight, I certainly enjoyed my G&T last night :D Congratulations btw 2/52 My Louis
  15. Thank you DD, T and gapvic :) I keep trying B&W and never really get it right - I need a proper lesson from someone
  16. Found this when searching for a crestie video for the naughty beagle thread. Make sure you are not eating or drinking when you watch
  17. Very smart beagle! Reminds me of this crestie :D
  18. Thanks guys, he is total sweetheart at home :D He has the flying hair shot down to perfection
  19. It has now been just over 7 months since Louis was diagnosed with IMHA and against all odds he is still here with me IMHA is a hateful condition with a high mortality rate, and Louis is so far one of the lucky ones that has responded well to treatment and is almost weaned off all his drugs. It hit him overnight in May, seemingly fine one day and then off his food and lethargic the next. His treatment was a high dose of pred and an immune suppressant called Atopica (cyclosporine). The pred dosage was almost killing him as much as the condition, and we had a very rough few weeks at the start while we tried to stop and reverse his body destroying its own red blood cells. He has had all sorts of side effects throughout this, muscle wastage and weakness, increased appetite and thirst, and liver issues from the pred. Oral papilloma, very dry skin and gingivitis from the Atopica. Luckily these have all been reversible and disappeared as dosages have reduced. He has had a blood test every two weeks since the diagnosis, with one every day at the start, x-rays, ultrasounds and drugs costing over $100 a week for the first few months. I've given up counting, but we are well over $16k so far. Oh, and he developed glaucoma 3 months ago! Again he has responded well to the treatment and hasn't lost his vision. Other people would think it crazy to spend so much, but he hasn't been in pain throughout this and he truly is my heart dog. I took some shots of him yesterday, as apart from the pot belly and lack of muscle tone due to not being allowed out, he is looking pretty good at the moment :) The next couple of months will be all fingers crossed as we wean him off the last drug, especially as the underlying cause of this is unknown. My little buddy boy  Had enough now Full set including bloopers here - http://flic.kr/s/aHsjQsKZku
  20. You can get a decent macro lens for a little over $400. Not enabling in anyway at all :D http://www.dwidigitalcameras.com.au/astore/Tamron-SP-AF60mm-F2-Di-II-LD-IF-11-Macro-Lenses.aspx Thank you :)
  21. What a great bunch of photos to start this 52 weeks off with! Love the range of shots from goofy dogs, sunsets and sunrises to portraits and birds eta - Thanks huga for the list of dates, every year I have a scrap of paper on my desk that I write the dates and weeks on - not this year :D 1/52 Pole Dancing Paper Wasp :) I think this was a newly hatched wasp, as it spent a while hidden in our basil while stretching its legs and wings and 'hardening off'. 1/52 2014 by HairlessHounds, on Flickr
  22. When my cat when through period of picking them up back in the UK, I would have a cotton wool pad soaked in surgical spirit, pop them on top and set light to the pad like a little funeral pyre. You would get a very satisfying small 'pop' as one each met its end :D
  23. Sorry HazyWal I'm just rather fascinated by them atm. If it's any consolation I usually find the cute little jumping spiders, rather than any big arsed hairy ones ;)
  24. Ok I failed miserably to complete the challenge I started this year and have been pretty slack with my photography recently So I will give this a go with the theme of 'All Creatures Great and Small', but be warned they will probably mostly be small and spidery  If anyone is genuinely freaked by spiders, let me know and I'll put them in spoilers :)
