  1. The North Cott beach is lovely, but the steps down may be a bit steep for a dog with mobility issues.
  2. Scarborough or South City beach? I'm not sure of the access I'm afraid as haven't been to either of them myself - Google satellite might help? http://www.gooddog.info/beach/scarborough.htm http://www.gooddog.info/beach/southcity.htm I know you said North of Cott, but Leighton is one we go to and is just on the south side of Cott - there always seems to be a friendly bunch of people and dogs there. From the car park by the pedestrian flyover, there is a short gentle slope down to the beach. http://www.gooddog.info/beach/leighton.htm
  3. Louis does this Generally produced after a mild stubbing of a toe
  4. whippytails - for my most recent purchase I used http://www.mycamerafocus.com.au/about/. They are grey imports, but based in Perth. The service I received was excellent. Also check out..... http://www.bhphotovideo.com/ - USA based but great prices and service. I had to return a lens once that was faulty on arrival and it was exchanged with no fuss. Also good consumer reviews of lenses on the site. http://www.dwidigitalcameras.com.au/astore/Default.aspx http://www.digitalcamerawarehouse.com.au/ Be careful if buying Sigma on grey import as C.R.Kennedy, the sole Au importer for Sigma will not honour warranties on them - they will however attempt to price match. http://www.sigmaphoto.com.au/sigma/parallelandgreyimports.html Also check out POTN for lens samples - http://photography-on-the.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=107 It is a canon based site, but it has a good 'library' of lens reviews and samples. Have fun shopping :)
  5. Thanks guys :D I think that was the one I was trying to remember.
  6. Looks like she had a lot of fun in the end Love her markings too :)
  7. That's a great catch :D
  8. Hope everyone and their doggies are keeping well in WA land :) Kicking some life back into the WA thread with a question - a guy at work has just got an 8 week old Lab x Great Dane from gumtree (!!) He is looking for puppy classes but can't find one to get into until January at the moment and would like to start classes before then. Any recommendations? I think he is Bayswater way. My anti-puppy farming gripes are falling on deaf ears here - a friend at work's sister, who lives with her, brought home a Pug x Boston a couple of weeks ago too!
  9. Your two are so adorable squished up like that! Thanks, Frida was gorgeous, similarly I love seeing Maddie as she reminds me of her Gratuitous Frida pics :)
  10. Cute video :D Why do they do that  My Frida was an expert too, despite have many large, soft options.
  11. They've both got gorgeous faces :) Columbus is amazing at 21! What a dear old boy
  12. Oh poor thing, hope her tummy settles down too :) Louis is ok, just weaning off the various drugs at the moment and fingers crossed his system doesn't crash again
  13. Ah ok, my vet has trouble getting hold of the denosyl so suggested the SAMe. Was just going to give you a heads up that if you were using the human 'enteric coated' one that it needs to be cut up before feeding. I had read this on the IMHA fb page, but my vet was insistent that they should not be cut up as the denosyl explicitly says not to. However Louis vomited one up once about 15hrs after he had been given the pill and it was still totally intact! The enteric coating is apparently made for the intestines of people, which is longer and where food sits a lot longer? It is designed not to be digested in the stomach. Anyway Louis's liver values started dropping nicely once I started cutting the SAMe up, of course also assisted with a reduction in his pred dose (he was on 40mg/day to start with!). Sorry going OT but thought it worth a mention in case you have to use human SAMe at any point. I hope Odie's flare up settles down soon, it's miserable when they are suffering
  14. Out of interest are you giving denosyl itself or human SAMe from a health shop?
  15. With a dog that has IMHA and was on a very high pred dose to start with, Milk Thisle and SAMe are always recommended on the IMHA forums for protecting the liver. On my phone atm, but have a Google and I'll add more later :-)
  16. Yes of course, very true Piper - sorry being very 'Perth-centric' I guess I'm thinking about it from the position of an overseas person who has been relocated over here for work, which a lot of the people at Byford were when I went there. We certainly didn't have existing friends who could visit, but I guess you could use a service that visits for you? Given how we were told how busy Byford was and how it had to be booked well in advance, I still think it's a shame to loose it.
  17. But so many owners will want peace of mind to visit. Louis was probably more of a special case, but I had to make sure he was properly clothed and take a few changes of clothes for him as it was winter. It also took us visiting to point out the blood round Indy's food bowl and to see she had ripped a claw out at some point during the trip
  18. That sucks Perth has such a high percent of overseas workers, many of whom may want to bring their family pets with them when relocating here for work - this is going to put a lot of people off. We thought long and hard about bringing our three with us - If I knew they were going to be in quarantine on the other side of a very large country where it would be very tricky to visit, then I'm not sure what our decision would have been. Could they not have relocated to a less bush fire prone area?
  19. I voted other - my two go in the boot of our SUV and have harnesses which I then clip to the rear of the back seats with a short link. They have plenty of room to lie down and move around but this way if somehow the boot opens they can't just leap out. I posted this recently as a reminder of why it's a good idea to have dogs secured in the back of a vehicle. http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/251370-reminder-always-keep-dogs-secured-in-cars
  20. I got my 'working type' cocker at 15 weeks as I wasn't 'dog educated' then and didn't know any different. He had been well socialised by the breeder and her sons and was the most gorgeous tempered dog, great with people and other dogs - and a big plus he was almost 100% toilet trained by then as well
  21. Yup, having a naked boy means heads are turned most places he goes. I knew I was in trouble one day when walking round a park and a gang of Japanese girl students with cameras were heading in my direction - the squeals of delight were so funny  I like informing people about the breed, there really aren't many over here in WA. You hear the occasional 'haha look at that ugly dog' comment, or 'look at the shaved dog', but on the whole people are interested and seem to love his ears
  22. So is the UK. Ours didn't need a rabies jab coming over in 2010 but they would now despite the fact the UK is rabies free Is that why no more puppies from Norway Ptolomy?
  23. Awww that's just lovely What a gorgeous face she has :)
